“Cutlass” by TKegl 2

Posted by KatHat
(banner made by Brandi)

Captain Edward Cullen was popularly known as one of the most ruthless, murdering, thieving, dread pirates of the Atlantic Ocean, particularly of the areas between the Caribbean and the American colonies. He ran a tight ship named the Black Arrow, and rightly so since it was one of the fastest pirate ships in the known world. He needed the speed of his boat and the utmost respect and loyalty of his crew because he wasn’t just after any treasure, he was on a quest searching for specific relics portrayed in a cryptic journal he possessed that were rumored to be the keys to finding a hidden, enormous Aztec treasure. The main problem was, there was only half a map known to exist and it was currently in the hands of his arch-nemesis and competition for the treasure - another notorious but vile pirate - one that Edward had vowed to get his revenge against for more reasons than one. Said pirate was also constantly evading being caught by ships of the Crown; a wanted man for all his heinous crimes.

Raised a proper young lady, Isabella is convinced the notorious pirate Edward Cullen is responsible for her father's death two years ago, since "Cullen" was the last word he spoke with his dying breath. His prized cutlass with a large sapphire inlaid in the handle had also been stolen, and from her private investigator, she had gained knowledge that Cullen is, in fact, in possession of it. Come hell or high water, she was determined that she would get her revenge for her father's death and get the cutlass back. So she flattens her breasts with strips of cloth, disguises herself in breeches and other clothing of a young boy, rolls her long hair up and tucks it in a hat and manages to get hired on board the Black Arrow. Her target is the captain, ‘One-Eyed-Eddie’, wearing the black patch that covers the scar of his missing eye and his signature red bandana tied over his long hair that is twisted into reddish brown dreads. She will just bide her time until she can get to him and then, kill him! Will she get her revenge and retrieve her father’s cutlass? Or will she be discovered and find out things are may not be as they seem?

Of course Cutlass by TKegl is loosely based on the Pirates of the Caribbean, but the author definitely puts her own unique spin on it. At her flawless words and vivid imagery, you will experience a total immersion with cut-throat adventures on the high seas and beyond, and the characters and action will spring to life before your very eyes! Her Bella is one kick-ass little hellion that doesn't take grief off of anyone. She gets herself into all kinds of difficult circumstances, but a well-placed knee to the groin, a punch in the nose or a rum jug smashed up side a head usually takes care of it! Eddie's one hot, sexy, tough-as-nails pirate, but has all kinds of secrets of his own, like where he came from and how he came to be a pirate. These two constantly butt heads and antagonize each other and the tension builds and builds until...you’ll have to read to find out! There is action and adventure in every chapter along with mystery and intrigue, all shrouded in danger and of course UST and more! Batten down the hatches, mates, and jump on board with TKegl for this voyage of your life! (Unedited version of the story can also be found on Archive of Our Own.)

Cutlass consists of 27 chapters and a total of 134,307 words. The story is rated M for content and sexy times.

“The Bigger They Are” by LadyExcalibur2010 1

Sergeant Major Edward Cullen is finally coming home stateside from his last tour of duty overseas and contemplating whether he should sign up for another one. After twenty years in the military and his age pushing forty, was he as ready as he thought for a change of pace? On the other hand, his entire life thus far has been spent in tents and the military way... As he is contemplating these options, a big rock suddenly comes out of nowhere and hits his windshield as he driving under an overpass. Infuriated, he pulls over, chases the culprit through the woods and collars him, finding out that the rock was in fact thrown by a very big and angry fourteen year old Emmett James, son of one Bella James. Edward is wondering what kind of Medusa-headed woman would have that kind of delinquent for a son; little did he know he was so wrong...

When he pulls up to the house with Emmett, three other boys tumble out of the front door and Edward starts wondering what kind of mess he really got himself into. But when their mom steps out of the door to talk with him, this big ol’ veteran army man right about falls to his knees in shock. How did these four boys come from this petite beauty? She barely comes up to his shoulder, with slender beautiful body, long brown hair and beautiful soulful eyes.  But the very same beauty seems to gone through a world of hardships raising four rambunctious boys on her own due to the death of her late husband, Mac; who had also been in the army. As Edward observes her while they talk, he notices the lines of fatigue that did not seem to belong on her beautiful face and suddenly feels the urge to help her alleviate these burdens. Sergeant Cullen, confirmed bachelor, has feelings stirring inside for this woman that he has never felt before. Even though he internally argues with himself that he doesn’t do commitment, it was like the gauntlet was thrown down for him when he met Bella. Is Edward man enough to step in and pick up where Mac left off and make this family whole again? Will the boys even want him to?

The Bigger They Are is written in EPOV and is an absolutely beautiful, heartwarming fanfiction by the very talented LadyExcalibur. The writing is flawless and the pacing is perfect on this amazing journey as Edward gradually works himself into their lives and grows to know, love and win over every one of these boys; each in their own unique way. Witness their characters develop and grow! In the process, of course, he slowly woos Bella right off her feet. I mean, who can resist a strong, sexy Sergeantward? What a gem this man is and you, too, will be yearning and swooning right along with her! It’s also witty and humorous, with Edward having many conversations with his - um, ‘manhood’ as he works through dilemmas that will have you chuckling! What a delight to read that will keep you hitting ‘next’, ‘next’ and ‘next’! There is also companion piece that accompanies this including different POVs called, The Harder They Fall.

The Bigger They Are consists of 78 chapters and a total of 304,177 words. It is rated M for language and sexual activities.

Bella has been locked inside her home because her nightmares haunt her every single day. she tries to help her father Charlie, Chief of Police, as much as she can, but there is only so much she can do by staying at home and suffering... After the death of her best friend Rosalie, she has been more than devastated and not gotten out of her secluded home in order to get away from the murderer. Because you see, Bella has nightmares of how the killer carries out the murder with his victim - a power that she sees as her demise, because no one should ever have to go through that kind of pain. Imagine going through the abuse and torture repeatedly as if she were the victim, making it especially hard on her when it came to witnessing her best friend's outcome. Living through death every night literally paralyzed her and affected her own health when she finally came to consciousness, yet she did her best to help Charlie locate the bodies of the victims whenever another nightmare struck her. But when Rosalie's brother, her friend, and Charlie's FBI colleague Edward turns out to be the next unusual victim, she knows that she cannot let anything happen to him...

Edward has been trying to locate this serial killer for a long time now, but after the death of his beloved sister, he must find his hideout and put an end to the killer's sick fantasies. So one day, he decides to follow the tracks in the woods and somehow figure out a way to the lion's den in order to capture him and find out why this murderer kidnapped young women and buried them alive so senselessly. Unfortunately for him, things obviously do not go as planned when he falls for a trap and finds himself struggling to break through. The next time he opens his eyes, he is around Chief Swan and his daughter Bella, whom he hadn't seen since Rose's death. Where had she been all along, and more importantly, how did they know where to find him? Will Edward be able to digest Bella's secret and join forces with the woman he loves to bring down the killer?

Buried is definitely an emotional roller-coaster that will have you on the edge of your seats! ericastwilight has written an extremely unique plot that you may only have encountered in maybe an episode of SVU on television. And let me tell you this story is just as amazing as any other murder mystery out there and you really start feeling for the characters. On one hand, there is Edward who is both angry and heartbroken over his sister and desperately wants to punish whoever the sick bastard is, and on the other hand we have Bella, who goes through death almost every night and is brave enough to stand up and help out in any way that she can. I am not to going to say that this is an easy read, but I will say that if you have read anything by ericastwilight, you know that it is very well-written with a great plot and a HEA. So hold on to your seat belts and buckle in to experience this wild ride! Definitely don't miss out on it!

Buried consists of 36 chapters and a total of 74,889 words. The story is rated MA for violence, language, and content.

"The Secrets We Keep" by mathisson 0

(banner made by OTB)

After the unexpected death of her fiance Jared Black, Bella decides to escape from Forks and leaves the town in order to start her life over. Her grief for the loss of her best friend was far greater than for a fiance, because she had never been in love with Jared; they had always been good friends and it seemed like the next step to continue what their families expected for her in the future. But his sudden death definitely put a stop to things, and so she decides to go to a place no one would think she would go to: Chicago, in order to start her life anew. There, she meets Esme Cullen, the owner of a fabulous flower shop called Just Blooms right across from her apartment and discovers that this is something that she would love to do. Esme too, is extremely taken with her and her capability to form flower arrangements, and hires her immediately to work alongside her and a co-worker Angela at the store. But when a certain, and extremely handsome, son of Esme walks right in with a foul mouth and an order of "not so fresh" roses for a skank, Bella discovers that the life she had been living was not true at all...

Edward is a broody, whorish, dark man that spouts multiple curses and does dozens of women - none of whom he repeats more than once. But his dark past combined with his profession in the mafia is what leads up to his exterior personality. So when he actually sees Bella, a woman who was naturally beautiful and so oblivious to it, he finds himself cracking his brain to find a way to pursue her. Esme is the first to notice his hard edges smoothing out because of this girl, but she also knows that her son has a long way to go if he wants to build a serious long-term relationship with her. Will Edward be able to get the courage and guts to tell Bella who he really is? And more importantly, will Bella be able to accept his profession as well as the fact that he is somehow connected with Jared's death?

This story will have you hooked from the very first chapter because of its amazing plot-line! mathisson creates two beautiful characters, both broken in their own way, who come together in a world that is not as simple as either of them think. What I absolutely adored in this fanfiction was that Edward's character had a marginal improvement within him, from the moment he first lays eyes on Bella to the very end when he discovers that his connection with him lies deeper than just the physical aspect; in fact, it was much closer to her life than he would like. But in the end, their love story does have a HEA, so please be patient when things get slightly jumbled in the middle; the story truly is worth the read and not to be missed out on!!

The Secrets We Keep consists of 47 chapters and a total of 92,649 words. The story is rated M for language, violence, and sexual content.

"Masen Days" by purelyamuse 0

(banner made by Mina)

He seemed to be a pro in his world, skating on his beautiful masterpiece of a skateboard and with his messy, sweat-filled bronze hair. Bella's classes were just over and she had trolled along with her best friend Angela to wait with her for her boyfriend, Ben, finish his skateboarding routine. But she couldn't pull her eyes away from this other, tall and lean man that had a black choker on his neck that made him seem even more sexier than he was. And his skating seemed to be the best among the people he was around, even every fall seemed choreographed. She had noticed him a couple of times in her poetry class, always doodling one beautiful thing or another. But today was the first time she was standing right in front of him and having a conversation with him, or least as much as time would allow anyway... He seemed to be extremely shy, and walked away if things got quiet for more than a few seconds. But when Bella suggested he walk her home that day after his skateboarding session was over, she realized that she was already smitten with this boy who had obviously gone through some things, who wrote lovely poetry, had sea-green eyes, and drew masterpieces. Will he be able to fall in love with her too or continue to walk away?

Masen Days is a story that will remind you of the loveliest of love stories out there!! Edward's character is pretty withdrawn within the fanfiction for his own reasons, and you will find yourself melting when he starts opening up with Bella. From his nerdy poetic quirks to his amazing talents in every way imaginable will want you eager to meet him in real life and be there with him when his mood is down. The story develops pretty quickly, considering it is not a huge fanfiction to start with, but this will only have you wanting to read it over and over again! purelyamuse creates a beautiful plotline with the right amount of hurt/comfort and romance all tied into a masterpiece free of grammatical errors, if any. Although it is told entirely from Bella's point of view, there is nothing that we miss on Edward's end as the story unravels and we find out why he stays so secluded. So don't hesitate and go read this story now, it's definitely a MUST!

Masen Days consists of 19 chapters and a total of 66,922 words. The story is rated M for language and content.

"Boycotting Valentine's Day" by jennlynnfs 0

It's Valentine's Day and unlike what Bella had thought, she suddenly finds herself being bombarded with several suitors lining up for her and asking her to be their valentine. Bella being herself, finds it more than awkward that these guys that she has no feelings-whatsoever-for were suddenly lining up in front of her on a name forsaken day. So she decides to flip the table and spend the day with her best friends Alice at her house instead. Boycotting Valentine's Day never seemed better before, and being with her best friend was all that mattered; sure her brothers Emmett and Edward were present too but they don't matter much, right? Well it turns out Bella was wrong, and wrong again when it came to underestimating where she stood with one of Alice's brothers...

Boycotting Valentine's Day is a perfectly cute fanfiction for today, especially for those who think nothing good could come being alone. Well, watch out because you never know what unexpected surprise awaits you in the near future! This short, bubbly story will take very less time so be sure to spare an hour on this day and I promise the fanfic will only make your day better, whether you are single or not! jennlynnfs creates great humor mixed in with romance that makes this the ideal story for today's date. You will come to adore the siblings - Alice, Emmett, and Edward - as well as their strong bond with Bella. Don't miss out on this one today!

Boycotting Valentine's Day contains 7 chapters and a total of 34,051 words. The story is rated M for some language.

"Designated Hitter" by esmegrace 0

(banner made by Mina)

Seven years ago, Bella thought she had found the love of her life in Edward Masen; even though she was insecure about him being a few years younger than her. The chemistry between them was instant and conversation seemed to never come to a pause when they were together. Bella's past and insecurities always created a small doubt in her mind regarding their relationship, but she knew that deep down, she had fallen in love with Edward. But her fear becomes true when unfortunate circumstances causes them both to split different ways to pursue their respective careers. Bella achieves a fellowship in orthopedic surgery and is well on her way to become what she always wanted to, and Edward leaves town to attain the title of a successful baseball pitcher. Now, present time in Houston, Texas, the last person she expects to see - on Valentine's Day too no less - at the hospital she works at is the very same Edward trying to make amends and get back with her... Why was he back in town again and more importantly, why did it seem as though his eyes were hiding a secret of his own? Will Edward be able to restart what he has always felt for Bella and regain her trust?

Designated Hitter seems like a very ordinary plot-line, but let me tell you that the story is actually impeccably written! You are able to read through the physical changes within both of our characters at present time compared with seven years ago, when they were more naive. Edward, is obviously extremely hot with his sport muscles, but he too has an inner turmoil going on these past years. As they unravel themselves to each another once more, hold on tight because I assure you that it will be a beautiful ride with the right amounts of angst and romance. Just remember not to judge either of them in the beginning without knowing the full story, especially because the story is only told through Bella's perspective. Don't miss out on this one, it's definitely worth a read!!

Designated Hitter consists of 26 chapters and a total of 136,641 words. The story is rated M for language and sexual content.

"Duty and Desire" by Aspenleaf 0

(banner made by Romy)

Meet Mr. Edward Anthony Masen, who when he twenty years of age found himself heir to the huge estate of Pemberley, a fortune, and guardian to ten year old little sister, Alice. He feels bound by his duty to preserve his impeccable family name and status in high society, and the responsibility for all of those in his employ. Now, at twenty-seven years of age, he endeavors to observe obligatory social functions from a safe distance to avoid being accosted by the artificial, superficial, incessant women who only want him for what he stands for, not who he is, including Emmett's evil harpy of a sister, Tanya. Tired of the endless pursuits of such women, he becomes more and more jaded. He continually wonders if he will ever meet a woman who is of high caliber, but who is also intelligent, witty, and spirited; when one day it happens out of nowhere. While riding his horse during a storm, he encounters a beautiful young woman walking along the road and dancing in the rain. He is intrigued and gets closer; entranced by her beautiful features, her long dark hair and gets lost in her big brown eyes. He asks politely if he could be of assistance and introduces himself, finding out she is Isabella, the daughter of a gentleman whose estate is nearby as he kisses her sweet hand. Then, with complete disregard to the duty of his station and against all rules of propriety and polite society, he leans down and kisses her soft lips.

In the days that follow, he learns that she is one of five sisters and that although her father is a land owner, they are far beneath what is considered socially acceptable for a man of his high status. To be with her would taint and ruin his family name that he is bound by duty to preserve and uphold. He determines he must distance himself from her, yet he is almost driven to madness with hopeless dreams of her. She is his heaven and hell, the one woman he had been searching his entire life for, but Isabella, no matter how beautiful, intelligent or talented, comes from an unsuitable family. His actions towards her run hot and cold and many times he treats her intolerably - trying desperately to maintain that distance; yet he is undeniably physically attracted to her and emotionally torn. Will he let her lower station in life continue to make him shun her as unattainable, or will he overcome this deeply ingrained sense of duty to pursue his desire and find happiness? Would she even accept him if he did?

Set in early nineteenth century England, this is a spectacular adaptation of Pride and Prejudice by Aspenleaf that will keep you entranced with it's poetic Victorian prose, visual imagery, character development and it's own unique twists and turns in the compelling plot. You will find this flawless story emotionally engaging, full of drama, romance, a little angst, a dastardly evil villain, action, and of course, some sweet loving! This is one of the early fanfiction classics that was just as exciting for me to re-read now as it was several years ago. Allow yourself to get immersed into another wonderful place and time and go read this!

Duty and Desire consists of 30 chapters with 115,375 words. It is rated M for themes, violence and sexual situations.

"A Ilha do Amor" by tufano79 1

Posted by KatHat
(banner made by beegurl13)

Bella is five minutes away from walking down the aisle when she receives a very abrupt breakup text from her fiancé, Tyler, saying that he can't marry her because he's in love with someone else - his roommate, Eric! Bella’s over-the-top reaction is understandable but very entertaining as her inner ranting is quite humorous. She commiserates with her bridesmaids who quickly rally behind her and convince her to go ahead with the prepaid three week honeymoon trip to a resort island off Rio, even if it's minus the groom; she definitely deserves some relaxing and fun time to herself. They pack her suitcase and put her on the plane to 'A Ilha do Amor', a.k.a The Island of Love, with instructions to call it a ‘singlemoon’ and with encouragement to find herself a Brazilian hottie to hook up with as a distraction when she gets there. While on the layover between flights, she meets a vivacious young woman named Alice who strikes up a conversation with her, which proves to be a turning point in Bella's trip. They realize they are on the same flight and heading to the same resort which, coincidentally, Alice’s family owns and operates. Alice describes her family members, including her middle brother, Edward, who is a brilliant accountant in charge of all the business decisions. However, Alice advises her to steer clear of the "douche" as he has a tendency to sleep his way through the female guest list without a second thought. Little does Bella know what a challenge that will prove to be!

Yes, Edward is pretty disgusting at first as he clearly has no respect for the women he has been with or himself and distances himself from any emotional attachments. He is an arrogant and presumptuous womanizer and you will really want to inflict him with some bodily harm! But when he sets his eyes on the stunning new petite brunette guest who just arrived at the resort and who wants absolutely nothing to do with him, he is completely thrown off guard since he is not used to rejection. He is puzzled because he gets a strange feeling around her like he has felt for no other woman. After repeated rejections and all out avoidance from Bella, her heated accusations strike a nerve and he starts to question his lifestyle and what he is doing. Is that all he truly wants in his life...fleeting gratification from meaningless, faceless hook-ups? Can he possibly redeem himself in the eyes of his family...and her? It will make you wonder what happened to this man in the past that made him so calloused and jaded. Enjoy experiencing his character evolve as his story emerges!

If you could use some laughs and appreciate witty banter, tune in for all the hilarity and adventure as tufano79 takes you on a wild tropical roller coaster journey with these two stubborn individuals. You can feel the tension and passion build as they circle around and size each other up, trying to fight the undeniable attraction, trying unsuccessfully to justify all the reasons this can't work; but who rediscover themselves and finally, each other! The story is very engaging and quick paced right from the beginning with all kinds of fun in the sun, a wonderful supporting cast, a bit of suspense and drama, and yes - ultimately - the hot-as-hellfire romance with lemons that will have you self-combusting into thin air. In fact, you might need use of a fan, an ice cold drink or other devices to cool off as you read! Don't miss out on this epic page-turner!

A Ilha do Amor consists of 38 chapters and 298,949 words. Rated MA for language and sexy smut.

"Cotton Belt" by ThisIsReallyHappening 0

Posted by
(banner made by Mina)

The Swans lived in the deepest, most southern area of Forks County, Mississippi, right where the Cotton Belt laid. Born and raised there, Cotton Bella Swan was the eldest of three sisters Alice Jo and Jessica Beth Gracie and they lived a good life with their parents Charlie and Renee as an upper-middle class family. When Bella and her family are in church one day, she notices another family walk in; two adults - the female pregnant - and three sons, all dressed in raggy and dirty clothes. She had heard from the town as well as from her mother that the family was fairly new and had relocated due to personal reasons. The family, coincidentally enough, came to sit in the same pew as the Swans and the eldest boy happened to be on her immediate left. She didn't want to talk to  him, but couldn't help but notice and underneath all that dirt was a fairly handsome young boy with grass-green eyes. Unfortunately though, his first words to her are far from clean for a teenage boy who calls himself Rowdy...

Despite the initial differences between Cotton and Rowdy, circumstances and fate lead them to meet over and over again. Cotton finds herself waiting at night for Rowdy to appear outside her house so that they could begin their nightly sessions of reading and just, being together. Soon, they two develop something that runs deeper than just friendship and a love so pure blooms among them. Everything seems right in Cotton's world; she was in love and was confident that even adults don't find love as great as hers. Sure, Charlie is not too fond of dirty Rowdy touching his 'all-too-clean' Cotton, but that was just a small issue in their path right? But as time grows, Cotton can't help but notice that Rowdy often had bruises appear on his body from nowhere. Her first suspicion is to doubt Edward's - his actual name - father, but she realizes that there is something more about Rowdy that everyone except for her seems to know. Falling in love with Rowdy was the easy part, but will their love be strong enough to withhold what is up against them?

This story is much too under-appreciated for its amazing plot and heart-touching love story! Although ThisIsReallyHappening writes this story as if it were from historical period, don't be mistaken, for it is definitely in the present time, and portrays the setting perfectly. All the characters are extremely OOC. Unlike the typical Twilight family, the roles are quite reversed here; the Swans are the richer ones between them and the Masens. Cotton and Rowdy coouldn't seem more opposite in both their personalities and behaviors, but somehow this story is the epitome of portraying how opposites really do attract. And despite Edward's dirty mouth, his love for his Cotton is oh-so toe-curlingly beautiful. He is the most sweetest boy that is in love and Cotton, just like the rest of us, melts. Things are perfect between the two when they realize what is ailing Edward; however, their deep adoration for one another is what makes the two bring not only their futures, but also their families together. This is a classic that is a MUST READ!! You'll regret it if you miss it!

Cotton Belt contains 43 chapters, and a total of 93,779 words. The story is rated M for language and heavy content.

"The Girl in the Creek" by MandyLeigh87 0

Single father Edward has too much on his shoulders to bear as a young cop. Not only does he have to find a balance within his work life, but he also wants to make sure to give his precious daughter, Maggie, all the care she needs at her tender age. And on top all of that, his reason to become a cop eats at him everyday, sometimes even leading to sleepless on his part. The urgency to find what happened to his sister when he was just twelve years old is a mystery he has to figure out. Its been ten long years since his late sister has been named "The Girl in the Creek" and Edward is determined to get to the root of the matter. After all, why was his own sister's file being kept a secret from him, especially since he was in the police force now? Why was his innocent sister a part of such a horrendous crime and who was behind this?

In the midst of all his stress - just when he thinks everything is going downhill - he hires Bella, who is studying law and needs an extra job on the side to cover up for time and money. She immediately agrees to Edward's offer on babysitting his daughter Maggie and, though she doesn't quite say this to Edward, fix up his apartment to make it seem more organized. The connection between Maggie and Bella is instant and it warms Edward heart to see them together; suddenly, he finds himself coming home to two girls that he adores the most and a place that has miraculously been turned into a home. Their relationship hits off strong from the beginning, and Bella decides to stand by Edward through his goal to catch his sister's murderers. But is she risking both hers and Maggie's life in the process? Will Edward be able to come out of all this successfully?

The Girl in the Creek is a wonderfully written story that will have you glued to the screen to figure out what exactly happened with Edward's sister. The story's main plot revolves around Edward trying to get to the bottom of the case, and ultimately finding out shocking revelations that put his sister to rest. But MandyLeigh very successfully weaves Bella into this story and the love between our main characters is what get us through the fanfiction. Bella's background in law makes her extremely understanding and supportive of Edward, and at the same time a perfect companion who can love both him and his daughter. At the same time, your love for Edward will increase as the chapters progress because as a reader, you will be able to feel what he is going through and why he is so adamant on solving this case - one that will both his late sister and his mind some peace. This story is not extremely angsty, but the angst is definitely there in some of the chapters. Don't miss out on the opportunity to read this love-filled mysterious ride! It won't take much time out of you since it's pretty short, but don't underestimate it ;)!

The Girl in the Creek contains 30 chapters and a total of 38,497 words. The story is rated M for language and content.

Lieutenant Edward Cullen is one of these men - the eldest son in a family of firefighters, along with his two younger brothers and his father who is the Fire Chief. At a glance, this family is the epitome of pillars of the community, but as we get a closer look behind the scenes, we find a highly dysfunctional group of members instead. Edward has always been the hard-working, responsible one and everyone in the family automatically has the highest expectations of him; they look to him to solve all their problems or pick up their slack and put way too much pressure on him. Carlisle expects him to run the station in his absence, pick up extra shifts and lays the heavy responsibility of watching out for the safety of his irresponsible brothers on his shift. The brothers turn to Edward for financial help when they haven’t managed their money or gambled it away and Edward bails them out. Yet, they never express gratitude or offer to pay him back. Not one of them put his needs before their own. That is, until the night he ran into a complete structure fire against orders to search for and rescue one young lady named Bella, who was reported missing according to her friends.

Struggling against the flames and collapsing building, he finally locates her, unconscious from smoke inhalation, gives her his oxygen mask and jacket and almost makes it back to the entrance when he feels the floor begin to give way under him. In a last ditch effort to save her, he throws her towards the door yelling, “Grab her!” as he plummets into the basement's darkness and the building collapses on him. When Bella regains consciousness in the hospital, the events of her accident replay back in her mind and she immediately wants to go see the firefighter that risked his life for her, especially since Edward remains unconscious in the ICU. Someone needs to be there for him to help shoulder the weight of the pain he suffers from constantly, the hardships of adjusting to being dependent and needing physical therapy, the fear of the possibility of being permanently disabled, and that person would be her because in her mind she owed him a debt of gratitude. His bravery had given her the chance to live out her life and find happiness, and with any luck, she would be able to give him the same chance.

TtF comes with heart fail and multiple tissue warnings, yet a wonderfully developed and mind-blowing plot. SparklingTwilight superbly depicts how the selfless but near-fatal act of one brave firefighter choosing someone else's life over his own, brings one troubled family to their knees; but how that event is a catalyst for changes and healing for both Edward and his family members. The author takes you on an intense journey of a man who had achieving his goals within reach, but because of who he is and a split second decision, he agonizingly almost lost it all. Will he ever be able to walk again after his back injury? Will he ever think beyond his own pain and difficulties to see the sacrifices Bella makes; how she is always there to meet his every need, calm his fears and offer words of encouragement? TtF is indeed a slow agonizing burn, but so worth it in the end. Don't miss out on this compelling story, but maybe have a box of tissues handy!

Through the Flames has 41 chapters with 200,140 words. The story is rated M for themes, language and sexual situations.

"The Last Breath" by FirstBlush 0

Posted by KatHat
(banner made by beegurl13)

This magnificent story takes place in 1944 during WWII, and begins when Edward, who was in the army, is regaining consciousness. He discovers that he is in an army field hospital in London, has been recovering from a serious shrapnel injury as well as a surgery and has been unconscious for nearly two months. The story is so eloquently written that you will literally feel the vivid descriptions; such as Edward's first reactions as he wakes up to the pain, nausea and vertigo from being in a coma for so long. As the doctor explains where he is and what happened, he also offers his condolences for the loss of his wife, Bella, whose car was bombed during an air raid by the Germans in London. To say that Edward was shocked would be an understatement, but but he knows deep in his heart, that this can not possibly be true; his Bella had to be alive. As he deliberates what to do, we see through his memories how their relationship began in the first place and how their marriage came to be. Their deep love for each other despite the risks around them solidified Edward's conscious thoughts that Bella indeed, cannot be dead, because without her, he wouldn't be awake either. He is intent on being released as soon as possible to go find her, which leads him to a heart-breaking journey over two continents. What obstacles must he face and overcome in his journey to find her? What situation will he find her in and what is her story?

I was naturally drawn to this because I have a passion for historical pieces, but as I began reading FirstBlush’s passionate descriptive words, I was quickly impressed with what an intricate plot it was as well! The story pulled me in even more with its intense drama, intrigue and action and I just could not put it down. This is one of those fanfictions that will impact you on an emotional level and stay with you for days. It is brilliantly written and well-researched to be as authentic as possible - considering the time period - by FirstBlush; with enlightening explanations and links of important details given in her A/Ns. Through her words she will have you sharing a sense of urgency and determination with the main characters as they journey to survive and reunite with their loved ones. There is also a major plot twist that compounds this urgency and I promise, the action will keep you on the edge of your seat! I encourage you to check this out for yourself.

The Last Breath has 31 chapters and 170,164 words. It is rated M for themes, violence, and sexual situations.

"Stolen Secrets and Shattered Dreams" by FoxxyJ 0

Posted by
(banner made by OTB)

Edward is a NYC barman of a nightclub called "BE" and has a peculiar ability to read minds along with his sister, who can see snippets of a person's future. But unlike Alice, Edward views his ability more as a form of cancer, because he constantly finds himself lost in the middle of loud thoughts that he never wanted to be let into in the first place. Due to the siblings' unnatural capabilities, there are several people out in the world who want to grasp their hands on them, curious to have them captivated and undergo a series of tests. BE serves as the perfect hideout for Edward, Alice and her boyfriend Jasper - who is aware of their abilities and loyal towards them both - where they can all forget the harsh realities of life and, as the title suggests, just be. But once again unlike Alice, Edward is a shell of a man who has built a hard exterior wall around him so that no one can hurt him again; his past and his present was enough to torture him. So when a certain brunette walks into his club with extremely nervous, yet sexual thoughts for him, he is more than surprised to find himself attracted towards her too...

When Bella first meets Edward, or "Sugarlips" as the back of his shirt says, she is more than bewildered that he seems to be answering most of her questions she never spoke out loud. Her first thoughts are to ravish the beautiful man, whose current nickname only diverted her attention to his lips and thoughts about kissing him. On the contrary, Edward seems to find this woman's thoughts so much more vivid and louder than any other human before and finds it hard to control himself from having her. He realizes that she too, came with some baggage and was a beautiful woman lost in the image of what society wanted her to be. And as much as he wants to start something with her to bring her out of her shell, he can't help but to avoid her because of his own secrets and insecurities. Will Edward be able to reveal his identity to her without putting her in danger?

This is great fanfiction with the perfect mixture of sexual tension, humor, and angst! FoxxyJ manages to create an impeccable sense of attraction between Edward and Bella, and you will find yourself screaming 'Get it on already!' to our two lovers. But the angst goes hand in hand with the thick tension, because ultimately, Edward and Bella are complicated in their own respective lives. Edward makes us realize that mind-reading can not always be 'cool' in any sense whatsoever, and his personal story will break your heart. This fanfiction has a wonderful plot that will keep you on your toes as to what will happen next, and I promise you will not be disappointed! There will be some humorous moments in the story as well, particularly in the titles of shirts that the characters wear in the bar, which are ironically also the titles of FoxxyJ's chapters. Go ahead and give this one a try, or it will definitely be disappointed that you missed it!

Stolen Secrets and Shattered Dreams consists of 24 chapters and a total of 172,164 words. The story is rated M for language, angst, and sexy times.

"Artful Maneuvers" by planetblue 2

Posted by
(banner made by Mina)

"I needed to figure out who Edward Cullen was before he figured out me."

Indeed, planetblue leaves a lot unsaid in her one-liner summary, yet the very same phrase pulls you into this unexpected and beautiful ride. Rose owns an art gallery, where Bella works and the two manage to exhibit paintings from popular artists as well as sell them off to their highest of buyers. The catch? Well, the art is not exactly the actual paintings or statues and the two ladies, along with their personal artist Alice, manage to create masterpieces that do not differ from the actual painting even in the slightest of brush strokes. But things go down a different road when a certain Edward Cullen wants to visit said gallery to have a look at the artwork. Now, that shouldn't be surprising considering they often had customers, but the fact that he had requested to meet the owner, Rosalie, after closing hours just to take a look at the paintings seemed more than a little odd. So when Rose brushes Bella's worries off and instead tells her to give the prestigious Mr. Cullen the grand tour when he arrived at 8:30pm, Bella did not expect to stand in front of a young, and very handsome man...

The attraction is instantaneous, and Edward is more than amused with the whole idea of the gallery and the woman standing in front of him - Bella, and not Rose. He had never seen such natural beauty before and his rich, flirty ways reach Bella immediately. And although Bella cannot seem to snap out of Edward's very green eyes, she can't help but notice that he is taking the art work in a bit too meticulously. His velvet voice talks about the statues and paintings as if they had been memorized in his head, and Bella fears she needs to figure out this man before he realizes her truth. Alas, he already knows how this gallery is run, and proceeds to give Bella a business card, quite sexily by brushing against the top of her dress, only to leave the next minute. To say that Bella is speechless would be an understatement, and something tells her that this will not be the last time she sees him... Who was this enigmatic man that had already seemed to have grabbed her heart?

It's planetblue!!! That's all that needs to be said when you come across this story because you will expect nothing but flawless amazing plot lines when it comes to her. Artful Maneuvers is another one of her masterpieces that should not be missed. Both Bella and Edward are less than perfect in their occupations in this fanfiction, and yet that is the perfect reason the two end up together. Their chemistry is wonderful, and their love for each other has no bounds. That, combined with the lives of crime that they are living leads to a series of events that will have you hooked to this story, and wanting to re-read it even after you have finished it! I can't say much more without revealing important information, but I can say that this story is definitely a drop-everything-and-read-now type!

Artful Maneuvers consists of 21 chapters and a total of 85,825 words. The story is rated M for language, crime, and hot sexual activities.

Diary of An Ugly Girl by Anton M 1

Posted by KatHat
(banner by Romy)

This amazing story by Anton M is set up as insanely hilarious entries to a seventeen year old Bella’s diary where her main ongoing concern is her appearance. She considers herself to be ‘ugly’-because apparently that was ingrained into her at an early age by bullies as well as her mother - as she constantly, although humorously, describes and berates her appearance throughout the story. You will sometimes hear her comparing herself to ‘fortunate’ girls, and it goes without saying that she considers herself unfortunate. She is, however, snarky, sarcastic, and witty and thus projects an outward confidence in the unique way she dresses, her love of drama class among other things, and her outrageous interactions with her big brother, Emmett.

Her junior year, Edward moves to town and starts school with them. Of course being handsome and athletic, he has instant admirers and is a shoe-in with the ‘it’ crowd. When he sits down at Bella’s lab table in science, she assures him it is pretty much social suicide to talk to her. After listening to some of her crazy ranting, he says, “You are...something else.” She pretty much assures Edward that she'd rather be the latter "else" and that she is not a person to be considered at if he was looking for "normal". But she gets caught off guard when Edward responds to her comment by saying that he is simply in need of a friend, not normalcy. After they accidentally get locked inside the school auditorium overnight after a drama practice, their friendship truly begins and the fast-paced give and take of their banter will knock your socks off as you witness the beginning of the epic journey of their relationship.

I was immediately hooked and found this to be a refreshingly unique story filled with consistent humor from Bella's thoughts and actions. But it becomes increasingly heart-wrenching as we realize it is mostly a coping mechanism for deep-seated insecurities and a hidden pain regarding Bella's past. What happened back in middle school that led her to be what she is now? What further obstacles will she have to overcome? The fanfiction not only addresses the against-the-odds journey of one remarkable young woman to search, create and develop her own identity - above and beyond what she perceives as her appearance; but she also finds her voice to address social injustices and encourages others to stand up as well, which makes the story all the more realistic in its overall plot. Right next to her in this journey is an equally remarkable young man that we watch evolve from friend, to a best friend and then more. DoaUG has left a lasting impact on me. Absolutely magnificent!

Diary of An Ugly Girl has 26 chapters with 289,228 words. It is rated M for language and sexual situations.

"Sear" by Rochelle Allison 1

Posted by
(banner made by Mina)

The cabin was supposed to serve as a sanctuary for Bella. After having her heart broken quite ruthlessly, she needed a place where she could be herself and regain some form of stability, which seemed perfect in her uncle's log cabin in the middle of the woods. But when Bella hears a knock on the cabin's door, her first reaction is to stay put in fright. She was alone in the cabin and there was no way Uncle Phil was already back; so who was this visitor knocking so late at night and in the middle of a snowstorm? She is prepared to hit the intruder with Phil's baseball bat when the man standing outside collapses on the floor as soon as she is able to open the door. She manages to somehow drag the poor guy in, realizing that bad guy or not, he was in the verge of hypothermia. After getting some help from her best friend Rose, who is a nurse, on the phone, Bella is able to remove the wet shoes, socks, and shirt from the man and places him in front of the fire, waiting for him to wake up and open his eyes...

If she was shocked when she first opened the door to this man, now she was bewildered as she stared into his emerald green eyes. This man, though not completely shaven, was a sight to be looked at! His chiseled jaw and intensity within his eyes almost made her forget that the reason he was shirtless was because he almost died in the blizzard. She manages to snap out of it and learns that his name is Edward, whom she expects to stay in her cabin for the next couple of days considering the weather. Edward seems to be an enigma to her, because he seems to be repeating to Bella that he didn't deserve her care; that he was bad and she should stay away. But neither of them could resist the other's pull and soon the two begin a relationship of sorts in that cabin. Bella finds herself falling for this mysterious man who refuses to tell her more about his past. So when she hears about the warning signs from her phone calls to Rose and her father Charlie and happens to turn on the television, she sees the same face that has been the star of her dreams...except this time it was framed in a square with bold letters of "WANTED" labeled above it. Will she defend the man she loves, or tell him to surrender? Can they even be together?

This story had me pulling my hair out from the very start! Rochelle creates a beautiful plot for Sear and I couldn't put this story down until it was finished. Edward is, as you read, a very unexpected character as the story unfolds, but the fact that he is a criminal does not make us, the readers, or Bella falter in terms of love. You also learn that Edward had his reasons for his actions, and that he had not expected to find love in the middle of nowhere either. And let's admit it, who doesn't love a passionate bad boy Edward? Bella and Edward have such amazing chemistry in this story that you will bite your nails off because the sexual tension is so palpable! Yes fellow readers, this fanfiction does have lemons, intense ones at that, and only adds more fuel to the fire that is Sear. I can't say enough how much I adored this fic, from the characters, to their love, and to their constant promise to stay together no matter what the circumstances. The fanfic itself is pretty short, so you will be able to complete it quite quickly; be sure to set aside some undisturbed time for this one. A hooking plot that you will not be able to put down, so be sure not to miss this story, a MUST READ!

Sear consists of 25 chapters and a total of 50,344 words. The story is rated M for language and sexual activities.

"Counsel" by Write Sisters 1

Posted by KatHat
(banner made by Romy)

Edward is a formidable, ruthless prosecutor in the courtroom, possibly the best ADA in the District Attorney’s office. He is driven to seek justice by a devastating childhood that involved poverty, neglect and witnessing the premature death of his mother. His merciless approach to litigation has earned him the name Counsel by those he works with, and bastard or worse by the criminals he prosecutes. Of course women are naturally drawn to him, not only because of his dominating well-publicized persona in the courtroom, but also because he is extremely good looking. Edward however, has little time, patience or interest in a relationship with these superficial and pretentious women. The obstacles he has had to overcome to get him to where he is in this point in his life have left him uncaring behind his thick, protective, professional shell, but you will come to find out there is so much more to this seemingly arrogant man.

Within a few hours time, his axis is thrown off kilter by a series of events. His so-called live-in girlfriend has had enough of his inattentive ways and packs up and leaves, but he can’t find it in himself to care. He also finds out via the news that his former best friend, now Senator Jasper Whitlock, has been alleged with using a high dollar escort service and maybe more. Then, some woman rear ends his new Mercedes at a stop light because she said she was reaching for her phone, she has the audacity to smart off at him as he is chastising her, and to top it all off, he finds out later she gave him a bogus insurance number and a fictitious name of ‘B. Cygnet’. All he can discern from her graceful movements as she exits her car and the way she is dressed is that she must be a dancer. Of course you can probably figure out that was Bella. She is pretty much an enigma for the first part of the story, but as her character and story are slowly revealed, we find that despite circumstances that forced her to compromise her integrity, there is a lot more to her than first meets the eye. Just hang in there with her before you send the jury out to judge her!

Counsel is brilliantly written by Write Sisters as an intense keep-you-on-the-edge-of-your-seat action thriller both in and out of the courtroom, with coordinated efforts between the DA’s office and the Boston PD to find evidence and round up suspects in a number of high profile criminal cases. The multiple fragments of the plot are expertly interwoven and gradually revealed with stunning precision and clarity. Can they find enough convincing evidence and missing key witnesses to convince to jury in each case? Will anything ever change the repulsion and animosity between the counsel and Bella: a key witness for the prosecution and alleged escort? A couple of the pairings are non-canon and heads up if you are an American reader: although the setting for this story is in Boston, MA, USA, the author is Aussie and often uses the old English spellings and terms. This was overall a magnificent story and I could not put it down. It also has a companion fic, Cygnet, which tells Bella’s story.

Counsel has 56 chapters with a total of 330,532 words. It is rated MA for themes, language and sexual situations.

"Cadillac" by ThisIsReallyHappening 0

Raised in poverty by her stripper mother at a tender age, Bella found her only coping mechanism to be alcohol. Along with her best friend Alice, she somehow got through life - unknowingly trying to escape and be something that she isn't. She is contemplating on buying ice-cream with the amount of money she has, when a junior behind them gets impatient and pays for them instead. Bella and Edward's first encounter definitely do not reveal each others' names - he calls her Dimples and goes by Cadillac himself - which also happens to be the very brand of the blue car he owns. Bella knows better than to get herself involved with the bad boy who smokes and seems to be hidden within himself, but she cannot help but get attracted towards Cadillac's mysterious self; were the rumors about him true?

When the two start meeting due to coincidences, they cannot help but feel the intense pull between each other, and start to get in a relationship. Unfortunately for both of them, neither of them is carrying a lighter baggage and they have to open up to each other in order to solve their issues. For Edward, Bella is an even bigger enigma than himself, and he struggles to make the decisions for her because in the end, she has to be the one to decide on what is good for her. Has her mother ruined her so much that she cannot see the difference between her true love and her love for alcohol? Will Edward be able to bring her out of her ruins before it is too late, or will he fall in the dark tunnel with her?

Cadillac is a beautiful story that will capture your hearts immediately. I will not lie, this story does contain some heavy angst and is very realistic in portraying our main characters' situations. But the love between Dimples and Cadillac is so wonderful, that it will keep you going. I loved Edward in the story, especially because he was the slightly mature one between the two, and you can feel the love he has for Bella in every touch, every word, and in his every look. He is there with her through everything, and stands by her in her toughest of times. The HEA in the end of this fanfiction will be toe-curlingly sweet, and I strongly suggest that you give this story a try! It's definitely a MUST READ :)

Cadillac consists of 40 chapters and a total of 91,783 words. The story is rated MA for alcoholism addiction, language, and sexual content.
