"All the Wild Horses" by elusivetwilight 0

Posted by Anonymous

Bella Swan lives in a small town in the South, where everyone knows everybody. There are as good as no secrets and the gossip never ends. The special focus of attention among the inhabitants lies on the elusive Edward Cullen and his more than tragic life. Edward has lost his wife and son in a terrible accident a few years ago. Ever since, he has spent his time mourning and focusing completely on the horse ranch he owns a little outside town. He hardly talks to anyone except for his good friend and farm hand Eleazar and hides behind his stetson and a thick beard. The first time Bella meets Edward, she is working her shift at Emmett McCarthy's Ranch Supply Store, where Edward picks up one of his orders. From then on, the two of them cross paths more than once, as if fate wants them to be together...

After seeing Bella slip on the icy street in front of the local grocery store, Edward drives her home, afraid she might have gotten a concussion. A few days later, the handsome yet quiet rancher finds her near the road with a flat tire and offers her to take her back to his place (on his horse, thank you very much) so she can call someone to pick her up. Much to her surprise, Bella notices the strong feelings she harbors as well as the fact that she feels incredibly safe whenever she is around Edward. And as him calling her to ask if she's alright and his behavior around her let her believe that he feels the same, she musters all her courage, drives to the ranch, and asks him out. Unfortunately, Edward declines. Heartbroken, the young woman walks away, not knowing that the reason why she was rejected has nothing to do with Edward not finding her intriquing - quite the opposite actually: Edward already likes Bella enough to do what he thinks is best for her. And that includes to not get involved with him...

All the Wild Horses is the epitome of Southern/Cowboyward. Our dear Edward always wears his stetson, loves his horses, and that Southern accent is constantly there. That said, as someone who has not been to the Southern states of the U.S., Edward's habit of almost never taking off his hat or that people in the story call their parents "Momma" and "Daddy" is a bit foreign and strange to me. However, once you get used to it and take it for what it is, namely a habit/custom typical for the rural parts of the South, it doesn't bother you anymore. The Edward in this story is devastatingly broken. He suffers the loss of his son and wife and doesn't seem to know how to continue living. Until he meets Bella, that is, who brings some fresh air into his life as well as the ranch and helps him coming to terms with his past. The two spend some wonderful moments together and Edward can finally start living again! This story might not contain overly graphic lemons but its realistic portrayal of living in the South and dealing with the death of loved ones makes it so worth the read!

All the Wild Horses consists of 29 chapters and a total of 99,119 words. The story is rated M for foul language and description of sexual activities.

"Wild Horses" by MandyLeigh87 0

Just after she graduated from High School, eighteen-year old Bella Swan is told that she will be staying at her father's ranch in Montana for the summer. For a city girl like Bella, hearing that is more than a shock, so grumbling, and with no hopes of spending a day withouth being bored, she packs her bags and catches a flight to Billings, Montana. Once at the ranch, Bella's father Charlie introduces her to his three farm hands, the brothers Emmett, Jasper, and Edward. The latter is especially good with the half-dozen horses Charlie owns and is currently busy taming one of the latest additions to the stables: Lightning, a wild horse. When Bella sees Edward for the first time, she is impressed by his intuition and empathy when it comes to horses, as well as his muscled physique. She is confused, however, when he seems to know more about her than he should, given the fact that they have never met before. Or have they? What starts out as a month-long trip to hell soon turns into the time of Bella's life. Full of horses, laughter, and true love. But what happens when the summer comes to an end?

Wild Horses is written by the wonderful MandyLeigh87's, one of the most populare Twific authors out there. Her stories are always moving and captivating; they never disappoint but always leave you with a feeling of wanting more. Wild Horses is no exception to that. It is completely written from the point of view of Bella, who is like the wild child from Seattle - not knowing what to do with her life and where to go. Much like with Lightning, Edward and the other people she meets on the ranch, take their time in taming her; giving her a new perspective on life and her future. Edward has been in love with her ever since the first time he laid eyes on her and no one was able to compete with her charm, wit, and beauty ever since. He is willing to wait years - decades even - to have her in his arms again, and the sweet, romantic moments these two share will leave you with a wide grin on your face. Wild Horses is an angst-free fanfic about growing up and finding out where your life should take you. Almost perfect. Almost? Well, it's too short and will leave you wanting more! ;-) Highly recommendable!

Wild Horses consists of 26 chapters and a total of 29,508 words. The story is rated M for one nice lemon and some foul language.

"Down Home" by MrsSpaceCowboy 0

It's been a while since Bella has come back home to visit her family. Rather than spending time in Quitman, the small town in Mississippi she grew up in, Bella prefers staying in Jackson with her friends Jessica and Alice. But alas, every once in a while, one has to see the family and as Bella is currently on semester break, she decides to use that opportunity and drives down home. There, she is immediately dragged into the next bar by her gorgeous sister Tanya and runs straight into Edward Cullen. Edward has been Bella's secret crush since High School, where an unfortunate misunderstanding has prevented them from getting closer. Now, three years later, he still manages to make her heart beat quicker and gets her all flustered, but she refuses to only be one of his flings. What she doesn't know is that Edward's wild days are long gone (if they even existed in the first place) and that he longs to have a second chance with her. He was never really able to get her out of his mind, whether he used to be engaged or not, and now that she is back in town, he is willing to really get to know her. So the two go on date after date and get closer. Over the summer, they both learn a lot of new things about the other (and themselves) that astound and scare them. Edward is in the middle of building his own house and struggles with his decision to become a doctor. Bella feels insecure about her feelings for Edward, especially because she tends to run into women with whom he was involved at some point in time. Thinking that he still pines after his former fiancé, Bella decides to "let him go". Already in too deep, she leave her love behind and goes back to Jackson...

Down Home was written as an entry for the "The Heart of Country" contest and won pretty much every important prize that was awarded, including "1st Place Gentlemen Wear White Award (Swooniest Fella)". And what a swoony fella Edward is! He is a full-blown Southern boy, complete with Stetson and accent. His love for working outdoors brings Bella and the reader a lot of joy as that means at one point in time, he is going to lose his shirt *giggles*. He also wants his girl to spend the rest of his life with him and once Bella sees some reason, he doesn't hold back on telling her exactly that every opportunity he gets. The story is written from BPOV and EPOV, though the latter doesn't come until later in the story. The lemons are not overly graphic but sweetly written and lots of humor comes from the Chief a.k.a. Charlie, who scares Edward only a little bit. It's a lot of fun to read! MrsSpaceCowboy really deserves the praises and awards she's gotten for this little gem!And if you don't believe me, see for yourself!

Down Home consist of 12 chapters and 79,201 words. The story is rated M for tame lemons and some profanities.

"Horse Play" by AngelGoddess1981 0

After the debacle that was her relationship with Mike Newton Bella Swan decided never to date someone she works with again. That is, until Edward Cullen comes along and turns her world upside down. A handsome bronze-haired adonis who looks hot by simply carrying a bale of hay from one barn to another, he seems to be from a completely different world. In fact, his crooked smile is so mesmerizing that Bella, an experienced and prize-winning rider, is completely captivated, loses her balance and falls from the horse, landing hard on her side - twice! Grumbling and determined to neither look or talk to the (cocky) guy her father Charlie employed to help them run their ranch again, Bella retreats to the beautiful house she lives in. After the death of her grandparents a couple of years ago, their successful horse ranch was given to Bella's father. Planning to once literally take over the reins and become the boss of the beautiful piece of land she grew up on, the 25-year old young woman studied business and put all her love and strength into helping at the ranch wherever help was needed. And now, that sexy looking devil comes along and makes her lose focus! Glad to finally be alone for a moment, Bella goes straight to the bathroom to take a much needed shower and tend to her nasty bruises. She is utterly unprepared for what awaits her behind the door: a completely naked, breathtakingly beautiful and muscular Edward...

Embarrassed Bella runs out of the bathroom (but not before taking a thorough look at everything Edward has to offer) and takes a deep breath. After she's over the initial shock, she gets extremely angry when Charlie tells her that, from now, Edward would live with her in the big house. And even though Bella shows both men the cold shoulder and seems to be more than upset, she is secretly excited to have that hot piece of men sleeping just across the floor from her. It doesn't take long for Bella to realize that he is far from being the arrogant dick she thought he was. Instead, the young man is friendly, an amazing rider, smart, funny, and, immensely interested in Bella and her well being. After she once again falls from the horse, the pain is so unbearable that Edward takes her to his father Carlisle. He diagnoses a couple of cracked ribs and orders Bella to stay in bed for two to three weeks. Almost unable to move, she relies heavily on Edward and can't seem to ignore her growing feelings for him anymore. Edward also cares about her deeply but asks her to take things slow. Instead of jumping each other's bones the first chance they get, they both want to get to know each other a little bit better. That, and Edward is still not entirely over the heartbreak he suffered from his previous relationship...

AngelGoddess1981 is a wonderful author whose stories always contain tons of hot lemons, a little bit of angst, lots of sweet romance, and a bit of drama! And Horse Play is no exception to that! Even though Bella tries to deny her feelings for Edward in the beginning it doesn't take long for her to eventually give in. And how could she not? Edward is everything a woman could hope for in a man: he's intelligent, funny, incredibly sexy (especially on a horse), very romantic (their first date is simply perfect), and, most importantly, he worships the ground Bella walks on. Hearing why his past relationship ended is both heartbreaking and infuriating but the showdown between Bella and Kate (Edward's ex) really makes up for it! Horse Play is mostly written from Bella's POV but from time to time, we get a glimpse into Edward's head as well. The story lacks typos and grammatical mistakes and is therefore very easy to read. However, it also includes many scenes that are neither needed by the reader to follow the character's actions nor move they the plot along. Thae result is that the storyline only progresses slowly and the fic is very long. You’ll definitely need a while to finish it but the magical moments between Edward and Bella are really worth it!

Horse Play consists of 38 chapters and is rated M for lemons and language.

"Under Heaven's Skies" by sunflowersongs 2

She is driving her old and beat up truck through the country; windows down and the warm air flowing through her hair. Bella Swan, a girl on a mission. A girl who was running away. After a tragic incident where her mother's boyfriend shot first Renee before then turning the gun on himself, Bella is more than devastated. After burrying her mother she seeks nothing more than the comforting arms of her boyfriend Brad but is confronted with a sight no woman ever wants to see. She finds him at home rolling in the sheets of their bed with another woman. Close to the brink of actually losing it, Bella's old friend Alice suggests that she should come to stay with her, her husband, and her brother. The three run a farm where they raise and train horses. Upon arriving at said farm, Bella is immediately assulted by the warm embrace of her best friend and it also doesn't take long until she is introduced to her brother Edward - tall and rugid man with a sharp scruffy jaw, toned tan arms, and tight stomach. In a nutshell, the sexiest man she ever laid eyes on. And while Alice is more than excited to see Bella and her brother become the best of friends, the latter is less than thrilled about the idea: "I don't have time for friends." Behind his scruffy appearance also lies a broken heart because after the death of their cousin Emmett and his wife Rose he has never been the same...

Meanwhile, Bella enjoys the gorgeousness surrounding her: lucious trees, a babbling creek which runs through the middle, endless horse trails and tall blades of flowing grass. Definitely a place she could see herself finding some peace at! After getting settled in her room, Bella decides to take a shower and is assaulted by the delicious smelling robe she puts on afterwards. She leaves the bathroom and runs straight into Edward who tells her was planning on showering as well but can't do that now because she has worn his robe. They desperately fight the sexual tension that has been following them the moment they have met each other. And while Bella decides she doesn't want her heart broken again by a man, Edward ignores his sister's friend as much as he can. It isn't until Bella manages to impress the young man by seeing to make a connection with one of the wildest and seemingly untameable horses on the whole farm. The encounter makes Bella realize how much he actually needs her to meant his broken heart. She starts working with the stallion and Edward's beloved dog Max is always close on her heels. The grumbly farmer is amazed by the beautiful visitor and asks:

"Do you have this effect on all males or is it just animals?"
"How am I supposed to answer that? I have no idea. I do have a way with animals. Your a male; you should answer that question yourself," Bella threw back.
Edward stepped forward, slipped off his hat and leaned in till his lips were nearly touching the shell of my ear, "If your asking if I want you, then my answer would be...."

Swoon warning ladies! This fic is beautiful! I say beautiful because the author, sunflowersongs, created a wonderful and mesmerizing setting for her story! Her descriptions of the farm and its surrounding land are so realistic that I swear you can almost feel the sultry sun or hear the breeze blow through the grass and trees! You can picture this farm, and feel the emotions of her characters so strongly. Edward is a sexy, swoon worthy cowboy, and Bella is an edgy, but very sweet, tough girl. This story is truly romantic - in just the right amount and places. You follow Bella and Edward as they heal together on the place that quickly becomes their heaven on earth. But don't get too comfy ladies because let me tell you, there is a twist that will pop out and truly give you whiplash! I wasn't exspecting it at all! Bella and Edward are faced with a situation that has the power to make or break them. So pack up your cowboys boots, a cool lemonade *grins*, and a blanket to clutch once this story really gets started. Because you won't be able to put it down until the end!

Under Heaven's Skies consists of 40 chapters and a total of 169,073 words. The story is rated M for lemons, language, violence, and suspenseful situations.

"Tethered" by Jonesn 2

Bella's ready to venture out and start over. She's lived a very sheltered life after the death of her father with a man who intends to make Bella his wife. So as soon as she's eighteen she packs her things and jumps into her truck toward... anywhere. But the damn beast breaks down near a wheat field in the middle of nowhere, trapping her in the bed of her truck for the night until morning where she'll soon find herself on the doorstep of one very broken man.

Edward's stuck living a life he never asked for, but one he feels obligated to live. When he's not working in his Papaw's wheat field, he's indulging himself in the very thing he brews for a living. Night after night he drinks himself into unconsciousness and wakes to continue the exact same cycle all over again. That is, until  an unexpected knock at his door breaks through his pattern.

Written in 3rd POV, the story switches between Bella and Edward in perspective, but reads as a drabble. Short chapters and jumpy scene changes. But it works for this fic, I usually stay away from drabbles because I don't like short stories but this one caught my eye. Who doesn't love a dirty, scruffy and broken Edward? There is a lot of angst in this as well and I do love me some angst. The lemons are delicious and hot and I enjoyed every bit of this story. Edward's character is so complex and broken and you just want to fix him sooo bad! Bella is young and naive and you just want to hug her soooo bad! Then when you read about these two together you never want the story to end. I really, really, enjoyed this fic and I hope you guys will, too.

Tethered consists of 41 chapters and 18,691 words. It is rated MA for lemons and language.

"Walk" by mustlovertp 0

Posted by Anonymous

The moment Edward Cullen finds out that his wife of five years, Kate, aborted at least two babies without his knowledge, he packs his bags and leaves. Intending to start fresh, the Doctor of Physiotherapy leaves his home behind and moves to Phoenix, Arizona. There, he plans to fulfill his long-time dream: running his own Horse Farm & Recreation Center (or, how he later calls it "Corrine's Hope"). As he already found the perfect place the only thing left to do is convince the owner to work with him.

When Bella Swan's grandfather passed away he left her his beloved farm. Though she loves every quarter mile of it and enjoys riding the horses, she knows that the huge ranch is too much for her alone to handle. So she agrees to sell half of the property to Edward Cullen, an old buddy of her friends Jasper and Alice. Once the contracts are signed, Edward, who seems to have a problem with Bella's young age (she's 22 while Edward is 35) and the fact that he can't get her out of his head, moves into a small house on the farm. And that's when things start getting interesting...

mustlovertp's fanfiction Walk is written from both Edward's and Bella's POV. Edward's character is immensely sweet - his deep love for children and desire for a soul mate will bring a huge smile to your face, trust me. And just like Bella, you might catch yourself thinking "Is this man for real?" Yes, he is, well at least in the Twiverse. Nevertheless, there is also a slightly darker side to Edward: the betrayal of Kate left him vulnerable and broken. That is also the reason why he tends to overthink things and doesn't dare to acknowledge Bella's advances and the amazing draw he feels towards her. Now, our lovely Bella becomes a little bit frustrated with that. Watching Edward working without a shirt (who wouldn't swoon at that sight!!) yet having to keep her distance is definitely not easy for her. Additionally, memories of her late twin sister just won't let go... That said, let me assure you that you will hardly find any angst in this story.
