After both of her parents' death, Bella Swan is striving to make ends meet in her hometown Paris, France. Although she inherited quite a sum of money it isn't nearly enough to cover all of her expenses for a litte more than a year. So in the hopes of finding a simple job Bella ventures out to town one fine day and happens to pass by a large crowd of people who are ready to witness an execution. Instead of simply walking away, the quick glimpse she catches of a bronze-haired man with hurt-filled emerald eyes causes her to stop. And it doesn't take long for her to decide that she wants to save him.

"The law clearly states 'should a man be sentenced to hang, he may be saved by a virtuous maiden who agrees to marry him. She must take him into her home, where they must live as husband and wife.' "

And taking him home she does, even though she only knows that his name is Edward Cullen and that he is convicted of murder and theft. Bella can't believe that such a beautiful man could be capable of committing such horrendous crimes but soon realizes that it doesn't really matter to her anyway. Because after all, her father has always told her to follow her heart and the latter definitely feels an immense attraction towards the handsome stranger. She trusts him completely and marries him the next morning. If it weren't for the fact that rumors start to fly around Paris and her newly wed husband refuses to share his thoughts and feelings with her things could be good...

DeltaSwan90 has created a wonderful story and I am surprised so few people actually know about it! In just twenty chapters, the author has created a beautiful and unique love story set in the 1800s. Passing By presents you with a very troubled Edward, who behaves slightly mean towards Bella in the first days of their marriage. Yet Bella is willing to see behind the facade and begins peeling away layer by layer until she eventually discovers the man underneath all the terrible accusations he is faced with. The reader also soon learns that Edward's rudeness has much to do with him not understanding why Bella trusts him that much without actually knowing him. It doesn't take long until what starts out as a forced agreement between two people turns into a deep love and adoration for one another. Two romantics, one agreement, and a false accusation create an amazing spin that will have you hooked! The entire story is in Bella's perspective, but the author has created an Edward point of view of the most important chapter in the story as well. A story not to be missed!

Passing By consists of 21 chapters, including one outtake, and a total of 85,235 words. The story is rated M for adult situations.
