Sergeant Major Edward Cullen is finally coming home stateside from his last tour of duty overseas and contemplating whether he should sign up for another one. After twenty years in the military and his age pushing forty, was he as ready as he thought for a change of pace? On the other hand, his entire life thus far has been spent in tents and the military way... As he is contemplating these options, a big rock suddenly comes out of nowhere and hits his windshield as he driving under an overpass. Infuriated, he pulls over, chases the culprit through the woods and collars him, finding out that the rock was in fact thrown by a very big and angry fourteen year old Emmett James, son of one Bella James. Edward is wondering what kind of Medusa-headed woman would have that kind of delinquent for a son; little did he know he was so wrong...

When he pulls up to the house with Emmett, three other boys tumble out of the front door and Edward starts wondering what kind of mess he really got himself into. But when their mom steps out of the door to talk with him, this big ol’ veteran army man right about falls to his knees in shock. How did these four boys come from this petite beauty? She barely comes up to his shoulder, with slender beautiful body, long brown hair and beautiful soulful eyes.  But the very same beauty seems to gone through a world of hardships raising four rambunctious boys on her own due to the death of her late husband, Mac; who had also been in the army. As Edward observes her while they talk, he notices the lines of fatigue that did not seem to belong on her beautiful face and suddenly feels the urge to help her alleviate these burdens. Sergeant Cullen, confirmed bachelor, has feelings stirring inside for this woman that he has never felt before. Even though he internally argues with himself that he doesn’t do commitment, it was like the gauntlet was thrown down for him when he met Bella. Is Edward man enough to step in and pick up where Mac left off and make this family whole again? Will the boys even want him to?

The Bigger They Are is written in EPOV and is an absolutely beautiful, heartwarming fanfiction by the very talented LadyExcalibur. The writing is flawless and the pacing is perfect on this amazing journey as Edward gradually works himself into their lives and grows to know, love and win over every one of these boys; each in their own unique way. Witness their characters develop and grow! In the process, of course, he slowly woos Bella right off her feet. I mean, who can resist a strong, sexy Sergeantward? What a gem this man is and you, too, will be yearning and swooning right along with her! It’s also witty and humorous, with Edward having many conversations with his - um, ‘manhood’ as he works through dilemmas that will have you chuckling! What a delight to read that will keep you hitting ‘next’, ‘next’ and ‘next’! There is also companion piece that accompanies this including different POVs called, The Harder They Fall.

The Bigger They Are consists of 78 chapters and a total of 304,177 words. It is rated M for language and sexual activities.

"Bad Blood" by LadyExcalibur2010 0

Edward Cullen is the son of a serial killer - Edward Masen. As a young child, he witnessed things that no boy should ever experience. He was taken in by his aunt and uncle - Esme and Carlisle Cullen - and was raised with them. Now, about twenty or so years later, he lived his life in absolute control away from his family. Every hour was designated for something specific, and tardiness just won't do. No surprises, no shocks, and definitely no change for Edward Cullen in the life that he is supposedly 'living'. But one day, a brown-eyed woman knocks on his door - unexpectedly, something which Edward didn't appreciate since it was disturbing his routine - and asks him of his identity. And suddenly his whole world seems to have shaken to the core. Who was this beautiful lady and what could she possibly want to do with him? When he finally decides to give her a chance to explain herself, will he be able to meet eyes with her when he realizes that she is part of the past he is so desperately trying to run from? Will her whimsical nature connect with that shy one of Edward's and will she be able to make him realize that he is not a monster he thinks he is or has bad blood running in his veins?

I don't think I can emphasize how much I adored this fanfiction. I am a huge fan of angst, as you all know by now, and this story had me hooked from the very first chapter. The entire story is written in Edward's perspective so we, as readers, can see exactly what is going through his head for him to live such a constricted lifestyle. When Bella and Edward meet, it is obvious to both of them that they are polar opposites from each other despite being two roots of the same problem. While Edward deals with his past in a controlled manner, Bella chooses to move on and build something better of her life. This fanfiction will tug at your heart-strings for the things that both of them have gone through, especially Edward. But it's an amazing feeling when we see Bella really smoothing Edward out around his edges and making him realize that he is and will never be even close to what his biological father ever was. The story is fairly short, and you should be able to finish it in a couple of days so please do not hesitate to delve right into it! In fact, stop waiting around and jump at it at this moment - it is a MUST read!

Bad Blood consists of 20 chapters and a total of 57,319 words. The story is rated M for language and sexual activities.

"From the Cup of Duty" by LadyExcalibur2010 0

Ever since his father passed away a few years ago, Edward is the king of his small country and responsible for thousands of people. With the help of his mother, Queen Esme, and his chief advisor Carlisle, the young man is able to manage the burden of being a monarch well, until now. Because at 28-years old Edward stumbles upon a problem he would rather like to overlook: he's in dire need of an heir. Needless to say, in order to have just that the current King needs to find a Queen first...

And not any Queen, no, she must come from a fruitful stock! Because for generations Edward's family, the Masens, have had utter difficulties in producing children, not to say sons. So Esme and Carlisle (who seem to get rather close) sent for dozens of young and attractive noble women, who could be to Edward's liking. Alas, they are either incredibly dull or couldn't be bothered to pick up a book. And this is where the Swans come in. Charles Swan, a baron on the northern borderland, and his wife Renee have three strong sons and one daughter. The fact that their ancestors have always produced many children makes both Carlisle and Esme hopeful that, should Edward marry the Swan's daugther, Isabella, it wouldn't be a long time coming until an heir arrived. So the lady in question and her family are invited to the court to attend a masquerade ball. It is there that the King and Isabella meet for the first time, ending in one more than smitten Edward (even though he doesn't like to admit it). The 16-year old is all he could have ever hoped for: strinkingly beautiful, immensely smart, polite, loving, and funny. Yet as he reveals his intentions to her, he does not expect to be rejected - he is the King after all! But Isabella doesn't want to be forced to marry, she wants her future husband to respect and love her. So now, King Edward has some serious wooing to do!

From the Cup of Duty is the perfect story if you need your regular dosis of history but don't feel up to reading hundreds of pages. The fanfic is relatively short, yet full of wit and sexual innuendoes. Because, let me make one thing clear: Edward is so horny! That means you're in for a very naughty story as From the Cup of Duty is, with the exception of one outtake, completely written from Edward's (lustful) POV. It is through him that the reader gets to know Charlie, Emmett, and Jasper, who are more than funny and maybe even a little crazy. A very good read!

From the Cup of Duty consists of 23 chapters and 75,939 words. The story is rated M for description of sexual activities.
