Edward Cullen knows how he wants to earn his money: by making music. Against the will of his father Carlisle, Edward starts working on his career by playing gigs here and there and writing songs. The latter is extremely difficult, however, as the 22-year-old's neighbor likes to watch TV - loudly. As banging on said neighbor's door and screaming like a mad man don't reduce the volume Edward is forced to listen to news reports all day long. Needless to say, he doesn't achieve much on the song writing front...
But thanks to his cousin, Edward might at least finally be given the chance to make some kind of a name for himself. He is allowed to play two of his own songs in Emmett's bar - but unfortunately, the moment he enters the stage he cannot remember a single word of the lyrics and no sound manages to escape his lips. Among the dozens of customers who dismissively shake their heads while laughing, Edward a beautiful brown haired girl, smiling at him. Fascinated, he approaches her after the disastrous gig but doesn't get much of a response. It is her pixie-like friend Alice, who not only tells him that the name of his mystery girl is Bella but also that he will have a hard time talking to her. Because Bella is deaf...
HelloElla's story The Lyricist is beautifully written. She portrays Bella and her disability in a very sweet way. Although she and Edward cannot have a "real" conversation they manage to express so much more with looks and music. Their talks are funny and meaningful and reading about Edward's infatuation with Bella is heart-breaking - but in a good way. ; ) This story is love at its purest form, make sure you read it!
So far, The Lyricist consists of 6 chapters and a total of 23,380 words. The story is rated M for foul language and possible adult content.
