"Watch Me Burn" by Livie79 0

Ever since his brother Alex and his wife had a baby, Edward has been noticing Bella start to act differently. They were together since college, and with a ring safely secured in the back of his pocket, Edward was ready to make their dreams come true. But her lack of response regarding anything these past couple of days was making it hard for Edward to pop the question. Far from actually, because Bella was acting - to put it bluntly - like a self-righteous bitch who kept pushing him away over and over again. There was no doubt to Edward that something was majorly wrong with Bella but no matter how much he pushed, she would distract him and avoided conversation. Her cold nature was burning Edward in the most cruelest of ways. Bella, on the other hand is also burning away internally for the one thing that she couldn't give Edward, the one thing that defines him. She labels herself as a "fraud" and even "incapable", making herself seem to be such a horrible person - one that does not deserve the love of Edward. So she does something that no one should ever do: she leaves. The heartbreak from both is a little too much to bear and they both go a quest to find out what the reality is. What was the reason behind Bella closing herself off? Will Bella finally open her eyes wide enough to see that she needs Edward just as much as he needs her before it is too late?

I have read many of Livie79's stories and, from personal preference as well as experience, am very familiar of the angst she uses in most of her writing. That being said, this is a heavy piece of angst that will tug your heart and form tears in your eyes. The story is a HEA but throughout the eleven chapters of the story, there is some serious subject matter going on; this one is not for you if you aren't a fan of angst. Despite the deep angst, the story was a quick, and amazing read. The characters are very well developed and with the alternating point of views, the reader will be able to catch on with both sides of the story. I will admit, there were times I wanted to punch Bella in the face and go hug Edward to make it all better, but Livie has incorporated realism very well into the story. You have to understand that though you might favor Edward, Bella is going through some very serious matter and as his lover, her mind is bound to think about what is best for him under the given circumstances. But I think it is all worth it in the end when the two talk things out - finally - and are able to understand each other. Ultimately, it's their undying love for one another that brings them back together. Definitely give this a read with a tissue box in hand (you could always read a fluffy story after this one ;-) ) but don't hesitate on this one!

Watch Me Burn consists of 11 chapters and a total of 56,617 words. The story is rated MA for foul language, heavy angst and serious subject matter.

"Que Sera, Sera" by Livie79 3

"Come straight home and don't make eye contact with anyone. Don't talk to anyone except a teacher asks you a question directly."

Bella Swan's life is miserable - and that might even be the biggest understatement ever. From a normal bystander's point of view, all seems to be fine with the Swan family; but what actually happens behind closed doors is far from good. After their mother goes through a miscarriage of what was to be a baby boy, Bella's parents changed completely, personality-wise. Gone are the devoting and loving parents and they are replaced by two brutal adults, who seek nothing but power and absolute control over their two remaining daughters Bella and Alice. Alice, being the elder sister, instead of protecting both herself and her baby sister, turned to Bella to be beaten and blamed her for things that she didn't do. This, in turn, brings her parents attention back to Bella and from then on, she becomes the daily victim of cruel abuse. As she is not willing to confide in anyone about her horrible life, she is left alone in her suffering and pain...

So Bella continues to endure her miserable life in silence until, on the first day of school, she meets Edward Cullen in her biology class. As her lab partner and secret-admirer, Edward is more than aware of her injuries and wounds (not instantaneously, but as they start somewhat of a friendship between themselves). So when he feels like the right time arrives, he approaches Bella and carefully asks her about her scars. But Bella is adamant on keeping her secrets to herself, forcing Edward to figure things out on his own. And figure it out, he does. But that only motivates him from caring for Bella even more so than before. Despite all the strict rules and regulations she has to live by, Bella too can't help but get closer to the young man. Before she knows it, she has fallen for Edward deeply and and it doesn't take long before she finds out that he loves her just as much. Moreover, Edward is willing to help her through her difficulties and stand by her no matter what. But before either of them could devise a plan to escape, Charlie and Renee find out about Bella's love affair. If they were brutal before, than they are ruthless now. Will Edward be able to save Bella or can they only find peace in death?

I don't have to say it again - the fact alone that this is the fourth story by Livie79 that I review on MSB shows that she is a great author and that each and every one of her fanfictions is great. And yes, Que Sera, Sera (or "what will be, will be" translated into English) is no exception to that. This story has an amazing plot and portrays a realistic, yet horrible, example of parental abuse. That the story is labeled 'horror' is definitely justified, even if it doesn't contain any vampires and werewolves. To go through such a torturous life is equivalent to having no life at all, and to live and suffer in silence is the worst possible horror for the victim. And Livie is able to explain and describe all that extremely well; so well in fact that I must warn you: this story is MA, meaning that it is definitely nothing for the weak-hearted. It contains graphic descriptions of violence, characters die, and blood flows. But have faith everyone, I promise that this fanfic does have a HEA - albeit a unique one; at the end of the fanfic you will be happy for the couple. Thirteen horrifying yet attention-grabbing chapters (you can guess why the number 13) that will have you biting your nails and keep you at the edge of your seats!

Que Sera, Sera consists of 13 chapters and 45,174 words. The story is rated MA for abuse, language, and sexual content.

"Glass House" by Livie79 0

"I knew I'd fucked up, and sometimes life didn't always give second chances for your mistakes. I knew all of this, but the empty gaping hole where she had lived for most of my life - where her soul was intertwined with mine - it didn't care about rational thought, it didn't care about accepting punishments, it wanted its mate back, and it was blind in its desperation to have it."

Edward and Bella have been lovebirds for a long time and want nothing more than to put their relationship on a new level. Unfortunately though, things start to go downhill when Edward's band hits the road of success and becomes popular. Very popular. Surrounded by fame and opportunities, Edward spends more time on the road than he spends at home, eventually even leaving Bella alone at times when she needs him the most. Although Bella is pretty upset about his constant absence, she understands that Edward's career is something he has worked hard for as long as she can remember. Knowing that his band is the second love of his life, she was willing to wait for her man to come back to her, but all her hopes are shattered when she finds Edward in bed with another woman. Not interested in hearing any kind of excuses from Edward, she rushes out of his place and breaks out in tears, mourning the loss of her true love. Edward, on the other hand, is devastated and utterly confused by the situation he apparently has put himself in the night before. Two things he knows for sure: one, he did not have sex with the strange woman sleeping next to him in his bed; and two, he will do everything in his power to get his beloved Bella back.

Once again, livie79 has written a fantastic story with an extremely realistic plot. She has depicted a scenario in which a couple that is deeply in love with one another drifts apart due to a successful career in music as well as a major misunderstanding. And let me assure you right away that this story does not involve any kind of cheating and has a very lovely HEA! It is heart-warming to see Edward so determined to win Bella's heart back - even though he has to realize, as he starts picking up all the pieces of their once so wonderful relationship, that this kind of undertaking won't be easy. Sometimes all a couple lacks is communication and really, that is the main issue in this story. You will find yourself wanting to beg the two lovebirds to finally talk everything out so they can get back together. And when that finally happens in the end, it will put a smile to your face and you will breathe a sigh of relief. This story has everything that you want in a fanfic from sentimental feelings to a great plot. Furthermore, the alternating perspectives of both Edward and Bella really give you insight to both their minds, making the story whole and vivid. Do give it a read!

Glass House consists of 26 chapters and 60,616 words. The story is rated M for language, some angst, and sexual activities.

"Practice to Deceive" by Livie79 3

Until recently, Edward Cullen was pretty happy with his life: he enjoyed going to college and had planned to propose to his beautiful girlfriend Maggie, whom he had been with for seven years. Unfortunately for Edward, he finds said girlfriend ***king with his best friend and roommate Jacob. Needless to say, Edward is devastated and more than furious about the fact that the two people he trusted the most have deceived him so terribly. So when, after a few months of grieving, he finds out that Jacob has fallen completely in love with the new girl in town, he is adamant on seeking revenge. Edward plans on snatching Bella Swan away from Jacob and to make her his, so that his friend will learn the hard yet valuable lesson of what it means to be cheated on. What Edward doesn't take into consideration is that he could genuinely like Bella. It never occurs to him that he could actually fall in love with the brown-eyed beauty and before he knows it, the whole thing he has with Bella is no longer the part of an act anymore but real. His mission of seeking revenge gets pushed to the background when he spends time with this wonderful woman, who has stolen his heart completely. But what will happen when Bella comes to know that she was part of a game he played? Will he be able to convince her of his true love for her?

Once again, Livie79 has written a wonderful fanfiction! Even though you can understand Edward's hurt, you'll want to smack him every once in a while for being so stubborn and driven by hatred. The latter will melt away gradually as he slowly falls for Bella. And though it's great to read how these two get closer, you always have in the back of your mind that it probably won't last too long before Bella finds out the truth about his initial intentions. Once that happens, you won't be able to put the fanfic away, too eager to find out what happens next and how our two lovers get back together. Let me use this opportunity to say that Practice to Deceive definitely has a HEA! This fanfiction has everything that you could possibly want: from some well-described moments of pure emotions to wonderfully developed characters and a more than interesting plot. Though the fanfic is pretty well-known in the Twilight fandom, I can't help but be a little surprised whenever I come across people, who haven't read this fabulous story yet. Because trust me when I say that this story is totally worth the read!

Practice To Deceive consists of 28 chapters and 131,761 words. The story is rated M for language and sexual activities.

"Glycerine" by Livie79 5

Independent and assertive costume designer Bella Swan has a fantasy, and now she is faced with the opportunity to make it a reality. Because cocky and talented actor Edward Cullen is more than willing and happy to oblige. No strings, no obligations, no shame. Though the heart stopping rendezvous they have only ends with a spar of words and a simple thank you, Hollywood lets them cross paths again months later. A self imposed challenge ignites a spark, but soon the tables will be turned. Fortune favors the bold, but how far will these two take it for the grand prize? Glycerine is sweet, clear, odorless and harmless, unless mixed with the wrong ingredients, or in this case, two very headstrong individuals. Will the highly combustible mixture of lust and love survive or create an explosion that will destroy them both?

One of the things we loved about Glycerine was the way it was written. Third-person was hard for us to read, we were accustomed to only read stories told by a first-person narrator, but this story was worth it. The author’s writing is concise and clear, it was easy to notice the change of voice from Bella to Edward. It was an interesting back and forward and it added another brilliant element to this story. Livie79 took us through a journey of lust, romance, heartache, drama, and all of it placed right smack in the middle of Hollywood’s distorted lifestyle, where fame and success is everything at whatever the cost.

For the first time we felt a connection with all the characters. Whether it was love, anger, pride, or disappointment, we could relate to all of the emotions described. We have always felt the connection with the main characters in other stories, but this time the writing opened our eyes and made us focus on the supporting characters as well; completely forgetting about the narrator. Because these characters were simply amazing as they all represent the polar opposites that are the lives of Edward and Bella, yet fit seamlessly into the main story, which shows that the author had put as much thought into them as she did with the main characters. Much like in real life, everyone has a story, and all these stories merge seamlessly, giving us a very dynamic tale with a solid plot. It was an amazing experience for us. The main characters are so different yet so similar in some way. Both of theirs lives and pasts are discovered layer by layer, and you can’t help but keep clicking the next chapter button because you are dying to know all about it! And in this story was also the first time that we felt so much hate for one character we never thought we would be able to hate - but that just shows how brilliant this fanfiction is as it invokes such feeling from us.

We just can’t stop singing our praises, really! Go check out this story now, you’ll probably go through several bottles of booze, boxes of tissues and pints of ice cream, but the ride is completely worth it. You won’t regret it!

Glycerine consists of 25 chapters and 193,891 words. The story is rated M for adult language and extremely hot sexual activities.
