After a terrible road accident, Bella's self esteem went down drastically; if she thought she was even remotely ordinary before, now she believed herself to be completely oblivious to every man around her. The accident left ugly scars on her leg, and she was very self-conscious about the fact that she will always have a metal rod inside of her leg to put all the bones together, leaving her with the slightest of limps forever. But when her long time crush - the bass player and singer from the band Midnight Sun - Edward Cullen approaches her on the night of her birthday, claiming that he is also fond of her, the two hit it off immediately and realize that they are made for each other. Is it just that simple for the two of them or are there secrets that remain closed? Will Bella gain back her confidence with the help of hot and sweet music-ward?

Initially written as a one-shot for the Twific Happily Ever After Contest, kitchmill has expanded Bass Instinct to be an amazing multi-chaptered story! I absolutely fell in love with the characters in this fanfiction, especially Bella and Edward, who are much more similar that they think. They both have shy personalities, so when Edward guts up and reaches out to Bella, it is a complete shock for him. The chemistry between them is mind-blowing and even though they have only met for a few hours, they manage to understand each other to an extremely high level. A hot bass player as well as a singer combined with a shy, compassionate partner is everything you can ask for in a perfect Edward and kitchmill really makes him come alive! This story is definitely underrated for it's fabulous plot, which incorporates a little bit of angst, lots of love - yes, there are lemons! - and some comfort that makes it whole. Do give it a try - it won't disappoint you!

Bass Instinct consists of 28 chapters and a total of 67,135 words. The story is rated M for language and sexual content.

It is the last day of their tour and Edward Cullen can't wait to finally get home. But alas, as lead singer of the famous rock band "Breaking Dawn", he has responsibilities to see to and one of them is signing autographs for his fans. So instead of chasing woman or getting a cold beer, Edward writes his name over and over again on photos and CDs. Just when he feels like things couldn't get any more God-awful and boring, he comes face to face with a stunning brunette, who shyly asks him to sign something for her best friend. Utterly fascinated by the young woman, he lets her bring her to his dressing room, asking her to wait for him. Edward wants her, badly, like he never wanted any woman before. Though he is sure that one quick fu** will get her out of his system, he also knows that it'll probably be the best fu** of his life. And he's right. Bella makes him experience rare emotions, stirs in him the urge to kiss her, and willingly gives him her virginity. When Edward comes back from the bathroom after cleaning up, he is disappointed to find Bella gone. Disappointed because he wanted to spend more time with her and disappointed because he never had the chance to tell her that the condom they used broke...

And so things come as they must: Bella gets pregnant. With the help of her loyal friend Alice, she goes through the ups and downs of her pregnancy, all the while trying to contact Edward. Yet as all she has is the band's fan address it takes until after the little baby girl, Charlie, is born, that Edward finds out that he is now a father. Totally overwhelmed with the situation at hand, he visits his daughter and Bella. The latter tells him to carefully think about whether he wants to be part of Charlie's life or not and that she would accept both. However, once he chose one way of dealing with the situation, there would be no turning back. With the help of his mother, Esme, Edward eventually realizes that he wants to be there for both Charlie and Bella. It takes the next couple of weeks for him to slowly start bonding with his baby girl and to realize that he likes Bella as more than just the mother of his child. Suddenly, his whoring lifestyle turns out to be incompatible with changing diapers and feeding bottles and the media is making Bella's life difficult. Soon, Edward has to make a decision: stop fu**ing around and take care of his new-found family, or leave Bella and Charlie for good...

Altered Measure is a slow burn, let me tell you. Apart from the heated beginning that brings sweet little Charlie into this wonderful story, Bella and Edward take a long time to finally share a bed with each other. The reason for that is mainly Edward, who a) can't keep his di** in his pants - something that not all of you might be willing to read (including myself), but it only happens once, I promise - and b) has difficulties acknowledging his feelings for Bella and Charlie. Edward, from whose persepctive the story is written (except for three chapters in the beginning), is an emotional cripple when it comes to relationships as he has never been in one and also doesn't plan to give it a try. His unuconventional lifestyle is more than once the reason for arguments between him and Bella and if it weren't for Esme, Carlisle, and even Rose, Edward's band member, the young musician would probably take a lot longer to see finally reason. However, he quickly starts learning the deeds of being a father and is simply adorable with Charlie. To read about him singing to her or making her drink from a bottle, is immensely heart-breaking. So if you have no problems with a very realistically written fanfiction in which the characters definitely take their time to go to second base, then this one is perfect for you! Daddyward awaits you! :-)

Altered Measure consists of 36 chapters and a total of 90,387 words. The story is rated M for some lemons and lots of foul language.
