Detective Inspectors Edward Cullen and Bella Swan work like a perfectly oiled machine. For years, they have been solving murder cases in and around Boston and have spent more time with each other than apart. Slowly, their professional relationship developes into a close friendship as they start sharing their innermost fears, wants, and thoughts with the one another.
Whenever they've successfully closed a case or need to work extra hours, they stay in Bella's small bedroom apartment, talking and laughing. And even though Edward could easily go to his far more luxurious uptown flat he prefers staying with Bella as often as he can (sleeping on the way too small sofa) and often spoils her by cooking great meals. Life could be really good for both of them...
Life could be really good for both of them...
...if it weren't for Edward's growing desire to be with Bella. Really be with her. Unfortunately for Edward Bella has made it abundantly clear from the very beginning that she would never get involved with the men she worked with - no matter how smart and sexy-looking they might be. And so, for as long as they know each other, the two have enjoyed casual flings instead of serious relationships. Too bad that Edward begins to realize that, more often than not, he thinks about his beautiful brunette partner rather than of the blonde bombshell lying beneath him. And when he notices the green monster appearing whenever Bella goes on a "date", Edward knows he is in way too deep. Can he convince Bella to overcome her fear of commitment and admit her feelings for him? And does Bella really don't mind when Edward goes home with another woman?
When I saw that It's Murder is acutally ElleD'Amore's debut as a Twilight fanfiction writer I had hard times believing it. The story is immensely well-written and contains a lot of humor. The dialogue is full of wit and esprit and the characters are immensely entertaining. Yes, some passage are a tid-bit too long (especially the parts when we get a glimpse of Edward's and Bella's thoughts) but the nice plot really makes up for that. From the very beginning the reader is somewhat on Edward's side and watches how he tries to get Bella to admit her feelings. Our little firecracker shows a lot of resistance but Edward wouldn't be Edward if he didn't know ways around that! This story is highly recommendable!
It's Murder consists of 33 chapters and 200,811 words. The story is rated M for lemons, violence, and profanities.
