"Shadow Mission" by maxigrumpling 1

Posted by KatHat
(banner made by beegurl13)

When you look at the many popular images of Edward Cullen, you can clearly recognize the devastatingly handsome A-list movie star who has an outstanding reputation for immersing himself into the characters he portrays. He has just completed the fifth installment of a highly successful series called “Shadow Mission” where he plays the lead role of Special Agent, James Goodall. The only problem is, he doesn’t always come out of character when he leaves the set. This personality shift apparently happens as a defense mechanism triggered by confrontation or stress in his life and seems to have started after an unresolved tragedy that happened five years ago which resulted in the death of his former bodyguard, Charlie Swan. In addition to his mental instability, he can’t remember anything from before that time, he hears voices in his head, has nightmares and has his current bodyguard, Emmett McCarty, at wits end to keep him safe and protected; especially when he slips into other personalities. What exactly happened years ago when Charlie was shot that left him so traumatized? Why was there no resolution to the investigation? Why can’t Emmett find any records of Edward’s life before that time?

Bella Swan was his closest friend when Edward was a beginning actor and her dad was his bodyguard. They did many things together on a daily basis and over the years, even though she was a little too young to be in a relationship with him, they both harbored feelings of more than friendship that they never acted on. She had hopes that one day it could all work out, but suddenly, after Charlie’s tragic and mysterious death, Edward cut all ties with her. He did not even attend Charlie’s funeral or send any condolences or respond to any calls. She was blocked and denied at every attempt to contact him by Edward’s agent, Tanya Denali, and after repeated attempts, she finally decided she had had enough. It had been five years and she wanted some answers. After being turned away at the gate to Edward’s mansion, she scaled the fence, fell out of the tree, was promptly apprehended by security, and she still demanded to see Edward! What will happen? Will she ever get to see Edward and get answers? Will he remember her?

This is a spectacular fanfiction! You will be immediately pulled in to Shadow Mission by the brilliant writing and sequencing of maxigrumpling, but get this - the plot and story-line are from Mr. maxigrumpling! How cool of a collaboration is that? The author also uses a clever ploy of successfully writing this in multiple first person POVs, which gives you a feeling of being omnipresent, like you are viewing changing scenes in a movie and can see action happening through the eyes of different people; one of those being the most impressive Emmett characters you will have ever met. Shadow Mission will get your adrenaline pumping as it is a fast-paced, action-packed mystery full of intrigue and conspiracy that will appeal to you on a wide range of emotions. On top of the danger and suspense, there is comfort, humor and at the heart of it is of course, the truly inspiring and healing joy of rediscovering a lost love. If you are not already reading this, please click on the link right now and check it out!

Shadow Mission consists of 21 chapters and a total of 188,658 words. It is rated M for language, content and sexy times.

“Cutlass” by TKegl 2

Posted by KatHat
(banner made by Brandi)

Captain Edward Cullen was popularly known as one of the most ruthless, murdering, thieving, dread pirates of the Atlantic Ocean, particularly of the areas between the Caribbean and the American colonies. He ran a tight ship named the Black Arrow, and rightly so since it was one of the fastest pirate ships in the known world. He needed the speed of his boat and the utmost respect and loyalty of his crew because he wasn’t just after any treasure, he was on a quest searching for specific relics portrayed in a cryptic journal he possessed that were rumored to be the keys to finding a hidden, enormous Aztec treasure. The main problem was, there was only half a map known to exist and it was currently in the hands of his arch-nemesis and competition for the treasure - another notorious but vile pirate - one that Edward had vowed to get his revenge against for more reasons than one. Said pirate was also constantly evading being caught by ships of the Crown; a wanted man for all his heinous crimes.

Raised a proper young lady, Isabella is convinced the notorious pirate Edward Cullen is responsible for her father's death two years ago, since "Cullen" was the last word he spoke with his dying breath. His prized cutlass with a large sapphire inlaid in the handle had also been stolen, and from her private investigator, she had gained knowledge that Cullen is, in fact, in possession of it. Come hell or high water, she was determined that she would get her revenge for her father's death and get the cutlass back. So she flattens her breasts with strips of cloth, disguises herself in breeches and other clothing of a young boy, rolls her long hair up and tucks it in a hat and manages to get hired on board the Black Arrow. Her target is the captain, ‘One-Eyed-Eddie’, wearing the black patch that covers the scar of his missing eye and his signature red bandana tied over his long hair that is twisted into reddish brown dreads. She will just bide her time until she can get to him and then, kill him! Will she get her revenge and retrieve her father’s cutlass? Or will she be discovered and find out things are may not be as they seem?

Of course Cutlass by TKegl is loosely based on the Pirates of the Caribbean, but the author definitely puts her own unique spin on it. At her flawless words and vivid imagery, you will experience a total immersion with cut-throat adventures on the high seas and beyond, and the characters and action will spring to life before your very eyes! Her Bella is one kick-ass little hellion that doesn't take grief off of anyone. She gets herself into all kinds of difficult circumstances, but a well-placed knee to the groin, a punch in the nose or a rum jug smashed up side a head usually takes care of it! Eddie's one hot, sexy, tough-as-nails pirate, but has all kinds of secrets of his own, like where he came from and how he came to be a pirate. These two constantly butt heads and antagonize each other and the tension builds and builds until...you’ll have to read to find out! There is action and adventure in every chapter along with mystery and intrigue, all shrouded in danger and of course UST and more! Batten down the hatches, mates, and jump on board with TKegl for this voyage of your life! (Unedited version of the story can also be found on Archive of Our Own.)

Cutlass consists of 27 chapters and a total of 134,307 words. The story is rated M for content and sexy times.

“The Bigger They Are” by LadyExcalibur2010 1

Sergeant Major Edward Cullen is finally coming home stateside from his last tour of duty overseas and contemplating whether he should sign up for another one. After twenty years in the military and his age pushing forty, was he as ready as he thought for a change of pace? On the other hand, his entire life thus far has been spent in tents and the military way... As he is contemplating these options, a big rock suddenly comes out of nowhere and hits his windshield as he driving under an overpass. Infuriated, he pulls over, chases the culprit through the woods and collars him, finding out that the rock was in fact thrown by a very big and angry fourteen year old Emmett James, son of one Bella James. Edward is wondering what kind of Medusa-headed woman would have that kind of delinquent for a son; little did he know he was so wrong...

When he pulls up to the house with Emmett, three other boys tumble out of the front door and Edward starts wondering what kind of mess he really got himself into. But when their mom steps out of the door to talk with him, this big ol’ veteran army man right about falls to his knees in shock. How did these four boys come from this petite beauty? She barely comes up to his shoulder, with slender beautiful body, long brown hair and beautiful soulful eyes.  But the very same beauty seems to gone through a world of hardships raising four rambunctious boys on her own due to the death of her late husband, Mac; who had also been in the army. As Edward observes her while they talk, he notices the lines of fatigue that did not seem to belong on her beautiful face and suddenly feels the urge to help her alleviate these burdens. Sergeant Cullen, confirmed bachelor, has feelings stirring inside for this woman that he has never felt before. Even though he internally argues with himself that he doesn’t do commitment, it was like the gauntlet was thrown down for him when he met Bella. Is Edward man enough to step in and pick up where Mac left off and make this family whole again? Will the boys even want him to?

The Bigger They Are is written in EPOV and is an absolutely beautiful, heartwarming fanfiction by the very talented LadyExcalibur. The writing is flawless and the pacing is perfect on this amazing journey as Edward gradually works himself into their lives and grows to know, love and win over every one of these boys; each in their own unique way. Witness their characters develop and grow! In the process, of course, he slowly woos Bella right off her feet. I mean, who can resist a strong, sexy Sergeantward? What a gem this man is and you, too, will be yearning and swooning right along with her! It’s also witty and humorous, with Edward having many conversations with his - um, ‘manhood’ as he works through dilemmas that will have you chuckling! What a delight to read that will keep you hitting ‘next’, ‘next’ and ‘next’! There is also companion piece that accompanies this including different POVs called, The Harder They Fall.

The Bigger They Are consists of 78 chapters and a total of 304,177 words. It is rated M for language and sexual activities.

Bella has been locked inside her home because her nightmares haunt her every single day. she tries to help her father Charlie, Chief of Police, as much as she can, but there is only so much she can do by staying at home and suffering... After the death of her best friend Rosalie, she has been more than devastated and not gotten out of her secluded home in order to get away from the murderer. Because you see, Bella has nightmares of how the killer carries out the murder with his victim - a power that she sees as her demise, because no one should ever have to go through that kind of pain. Imagine going through the abuse and torture repeatedly as if she were the victim, making it especially hard on her when it came to witnessing her best friend's outcome. Living through death every night literally paralyzed her and affected her own health when she finally came to consciousness, yet she did her best to help Charlie locate the bodies of the victims whenever another nightmare struck her. But when Rosalie's brother, her friend, and Charlie's FBI colleague Edward turns out to be the next unusual victim, she knows that she cannot let anything happen to him...

Edward has been trying to locate this serial killer for a long time now, but after the death of his beloved sister, he must find his hideout and put an end to the killer's sick fantasies. So one day, he decides to follow the tracks in the woods and somehow figure out a way to the lion's den in order to capture him and find out why this murderer kidnapped young women and buried them alive so senselessly. Unfortunately for him, things obviously do not go as planned when he falls for a trap and finds himself struggling to break through. The next time he opens his eyes, he is around Chief Swan and his daughter Bella, whom he hadn't seen since Rose's death. Where had she been all along, and more importantly, how did they know where to find him? Will Edward be able to digest Bella's secret and join forces with the woman he loves to bring down the killer?

Buried is definitely an emotional roller-coaster that will have you on the edge of your seats! ericastwilight has written an extremely unique plot that you may only have encountered in maybe an episode of SVU on television. And let me tell you this story is just as amazing as any other murder mystery out there and you really start feeling for the characters. On one hand, there is Edward who is both angry and heartbroken over his sister and desperately wants to punish whoever the sick bastard is, and on the other hand we have Bella, who goes through death almost every night and is brave enough to stand up and help out in any way that she can. I am not to going to say that this is an easy read, but I will say that if you have read anything by ericastwilight, you know that it is very well-written with a great plot and a HEA. So hold on to your seat belts and buckle in to experience this wild ride! Definitely don't miss out on it!

Buried consists of 36 chapters and a total of 74,889 words. The story is rated MA for violence, language, and content.

"Deep in the Heart of Me" by counselor 0

(banner made by Romy)

Since Edward “Tonio” Cullen is the oldest of nine, he carries the weight and responsibilities of being a firstborn on his shoulders. The responsibilities that he holds towards his family have been instilled within him early on, giving him the insight of a grown man in an almost fourteen year old’s body. His personality is an interesting cross between his hard-working/ready-to-fight-for-family Irish father and his fiery, passionate Italian mother. He contemplates that he might be handsome; his 'granma' says it's common knowledge and his dad says, "he won't break a mirror." And although he is accustomed to working long, hard hours on the family farm, often from before sunrise until after sunset, he sometimes wonders what life could be for him beyond just the farm and his duties. Little does he know how soon he will come to find that out...

Everything is as it should be in his world until one day when a sleek black car passes him, his brothers and sisters on the dirt road as they are walking the mile to school, bringing the new sheriff to town to drop off his daughter and turning Tonio's life completely upside down. This new girl is dressed in a crisp new dress and shoes with ribbons in her hair - the prettiest thing he has ever seen. The teacher starts to introduce her as “Isa-”, but her father quickly corrects her saying, “Her name is Sobe.” Not only is Sobe Swan sweet, pretty and smart, but apparently also a harbinger of all kinds of trouble. Trouble not only for a smitten young Tonio’s heart, but a host of other situations, some of which she keeps deeply hidden. Why is her father giving her a different name? What kind of adventures will these two young people experience and what obstacles will they encounter before they can be together?

Deep in the Heart of Me is of course, our beloved counselor’s latest addicting gem in the crown of her many fanfiction accomplishments. My words cannot adequately praise her unique ability to so completely and vividly immerse you into the mindset of her characters that transport you to another place and time; this time through the riveting point of view of young Tonio Cullen! counselor’s superior mastery of words will evoke the rawest of emotions from you, from total disbelief of what is happening, nail-biting suspense of what will happen, complete angst and rage against powers that be, and of course, swooning over the yearning and adoration Tonio has for his beloved Sobe and his determination to let nothing or no one keep them from being together. This coming of age journey is of epic proportions, spanning several years while his character matures and evolves from being reckless and hard-headed to someone with vision and purpose; enduring and surviving many adventures, twists, turns, trials and tribulations on his way to becoming the man he is destined to be, with the woman he is destined to be with. If you are not already reading this, what are you waiting for? You need to click on the link right now and go share this spectacular experience!

Deep in the Heart of Me has 100 Chapters and 155,396 words. It is rated M for themes and content.

"The Secrets We Keep" by mathisson 0

(banner made by OTB)

After the unexpected death of her fiance Jared Black, Bella decides to escape from Forks and leaves the town in order to start her life over. Her grief for the loss of her best friend was far greater than for a fiance, because she had never been in love with Jared; they had always been good friends and it seemed like the next step to continue what their families expected for her in the future. But his sudden death definitely put a stop to things, and so she decides to go to a place no one would think she would go to: Chicago, in order to start her life anew. There, she meets Esme Cullen, the owner of a fabulous flower shop called Just Blooms right across from her apartment and discovers that this is something that she would love to do. Esme too, is extremely taken with her and her capability to form flower arrangements, and hires her immediately to work alongside her and a co-worker Angela at the store. But when a certain, and extremely handsome, son of Esme walks right in with a foul mouth and an order of "not so fresh" roses for a skank, Bella discovers that the life she had been living was not true at all...

Edward is a broody, whorish, dark man that spouts multiple curses and does dozens of women - none of whom he repeats more than once. But his dark past combined with his profession in the mafia is what leads up to his exterior personality. So when he actually sees Bella, a woman who was naturally beautiful and so oblivious to it, he finds himself cracking his brain to find a way to pursue her. Esme is the first to notice his hard edges smoothing out because of this girl, but she also knows that her son has a long way to go if he wants to build a serious long-term relationship with her. Will Edward be able to get the courage and guts to tell Bella who he really is? And more importantly, will Bella be able to accept his profession as well as the fact that he is somehow connected with Jared's death?

This story will have you hooked from the very first chapter because of its amazing plot-line! mathisson creates two beautiful characters, both broken in their own way, who come together in a world that is not as simple as either of them think. What I absolutely adored in this fanfiction was that Edward's character had a marginal improvement within him, from the moment he first lays eyes on Bella to the very end when he discovers that his connection with him lies deeper than just the physical aspect; in fact, it was much closer to her life than he would like. But in the end, their love story does have a HEA, so please be patient when things get slightly jumbled in the middle; the story truly is worth the read and not to be missed out on!!

The Secrets We Keep consists of 47 chapters and a total of 92,649 words. The story is rated M for language, violence, and sexual content.

"Getting Blitzed" by Nolebucgrl 0

Posted by KatHat
(banner made by beegurl13)

Edward Cullen, college quarterback extraordinaire in Sideline Collision, was the NFL overall first draft pick and is now starting quarterback for the New York Giants in Getting Blitzed! Coming off of two national championships, two MVPs, and two Heisman wins with the Florida State Seminoles, he might come off as a bit cocky in nature. Actually, that may be putting it too mildly. His arrogance knows no bounds and he thinks his new NFL coach and teammates will bow down and worship the ground he walks on for gracing them with his presence; but he definitely gets a big, bruising reality check! Playing with the big boys is a whole other level of competition than what he knew in college football, and even “Edward F’ing Cullen” has to pay his dues and prove his worth. His teammates not only hit hard on the field, but punk him after practice time and again, because he’s the rookie. Then he has to drag his aching body home alone to his penthouse because his sexy girlfriend Bella, aka “Reed Girl”, is still back in Tallahassee finishing up her degree. Things seem to be completely haywire in his life...

Edward met Bella a couple years back at a Florida State football game as he was running out of the tunnel with the team to take the field and collided with some band geek that was coming off the field. The story picks up after their relationship in Sideline Collision and now Edward must endure months before she can join him in New Jersey after her graduation. Sure there are phone calls, Skype chats, and a few weekend visits for games to share with each other, but is that enough to keep everything good in their relationship? Unfortunately for Edward and his cockiness, being the best has always come so easy to him that now he is having a hard time adapting to the multiple changes around him, with only his very possessive and temperamental kitten - Rainbow - to console him. How will he survive the separation from his beloved other half and accept the discipline it now takes to be a pro quarterback; even accepting defeat?

Getting Blitzed, of course, is the hilarious, outrageous sequel to Sideline Collision by Nolebucgrl. This woman knows football plays, calls and stats like no other, and it is absolutely amazing how she can make you feel like you are experiencing everything as if you are right there in Edward’s head. It is equally impressive how she portrays his undoubtedly masculine voice with his unfiltered thoughts, words and actions, as he fumbles his way through all manner of shenanigans, freak-outs and ups and downs; learning many of life’s lessons whether he is ready or not. The focus is currently on Edward’s journey, but of course Bella is a constant presence, either in person or by contact. When she is there in person, Edward is insatiable - so prepare for some toe-curling, sizzling lemons! The previous gang of crazy friends and family also pop in from time to time in addition to a whole new cast of wacky characters livening up the new location to round things out. Never a dull moment, people! If you need a good pick-me-up story and a reason to smile, don't miss the escapades of Cockyback and Reed Girl! So much fun! Updates every Sunday!

Getting Blitzed consists of 23 chapters and a total of 104,838 words so far. The story is rated M for language and sexy times!

It's Valentine's Day and unlike what Bella had thought, she suddenly finds herself being bombarded with several suitors lining up for her and asking her to be their valentine. Bella being herself, finds it more than awkward that these guys that she has no feelings-whatsoever-for were suddenly lining up in front of her on a name forsaken day. So she decides to flip the table and spend the day with her best friends Alice at her house instead. Boycotting Valentine's Day never seemed better before, and being with her best friend was all that mattered; sure her brothers Emmett and Edward were present too but they don't matter much, right? Well it turns out Bella was wrong, and wrong again when it came to underestimating where she stood with one of Alice's brothers...

Well, watch out because you never know what unexpected surprise awaits you in the near future! This short, bubbly story will take very less time so be sure to spare an hour on this day and I promise the fanfic will only make your day better, whether you are single or not! jennlynnfs creates great humor mixed in with romance that makes this the ideal story for today's date. "Gothic" by author-self-insert 0

Posted by KatHat
(banner made by beegurl13)

Gothic: pertaining to a style of literature characterized by a gloomy setting, grotesque, mysterious, or violent events, and an atmosphere of degeneration and decay. This describes not only focus of the classes Dr. Isabella Swan teaches as a professor of Early Modern Literature, but it also her proclivity in her personal life as a connoisseur of horror films and 19th-century Gothic novels. She rationalizes that these things are her safe haven where she can immerse herself in the tortuous existence of the characters in these stories - as a way to escape from her own; choosing the safe haven of books with characters that will cause her no pain as opposed to people in real life who can. She is extremely intelligent and thought-provoking, often leaving you chuckling from her unusual and hilarious thought associations, but she is also constantly disparaging herself as awkward or not socially acceptable or what a “burden it must be for people to have to look at someone like me”. She is always expecting the worst from others and questioning every action and word for ulterior motives, but she endeavors to appear ‘normal’ and charming in front of her colleagues and students; trying to present herself as tolerable and carefully following all the rules of etiquette. What could have happened in her life to leave her so disturbed and damaged? What had she endured as a young girl to drive her to only find solace in books of Gothic literature?

For one thing, meet Edward Cullen, the bane of her existence. Back in high school he was the leader of the resident ‘brat pack’ who made it their sole purpose in life to bully, humiliate and torment Bella and her best friend, Alice, making their daily lives a living hell. Now he shows up ten years later at the bar where her department colleagues are having ‘happy hour’ and he has the audacity to approach and speak to her, and even has the nerve to ask her to help him solve the mysterious cold case murder of his ex-girlfriend, Tanya, that happened right after high school. And why ask Bella? Because willing or not, she was his only alibi that kept him from being tried for the murder himself, and the only one who knows without a doubt he did not do it. Now he’s intruding on her personal life once again, saying he’s a doctor, he’s changed, and he’s sorry. You have to give him credit for being a persistent fella who keeps asking her questions, eventually figuring out how to play by her rules - but still pushes her buttons to get her to talk. Then he listens in fascination as she goes on one of her crazy rants - even though most of the time he has no idea what she is talking about! Her passive-aggressive treatment of Edward, and the changing dynamics and dialogue between these two is like watching a championship tennis match.

Author-self-insert will definitely keep you on your toes with her brilliant and articulate word play, the intense, intriguingly complex plot and the absolutely unique voice she has given Bella. You will be torn between cracking up over Bella's inner dialogue and feeling heartbroken for her damaged sense of self-worth and complete distrust of everyone. You will discover that Gothic is so much more than a murder mystery, even though that part will have you continually racking your brain to come up with your own theories as to ‘whodunit’ and keep you riveted on the edge of your seat. It is also an intellectually challenging and emotionally provoking study of the struggle of two flawed individuals to deal not only with the demons of their pasts, but with increasingly disturbing events that start happening in the present; while at the same time forging the basic foundation of a budding relationship with each other - seemingly against the all the odds. Can they figure it all out? Do you think you can figure it out? Are you up for the challenge? Don’t miss out on this gem, it's perfect for Friday the 13th ;-)!

Gothic contains 23 chapters and a total of 116,449 words. The story is rated M for language and content.

"Duty and Desire" by Aspenleaf 0

Posted by KatHat
(banner made by Romy)

Meet Mr. Edward Anthony Masen, who when he twenty years of age found himself heir to the huge estate of Pemberley, a fortune, and guardian to ten year old little sister, Alice. He feels bound by his duty to preserve his impeccable family name and status in high society, and the responsibility for all of those in his employ. Now, at twenty-seven years of age, he endeavors to observe obligatory social functions from a safe distance to avoid being accosted by the artificial, superficial, incessant women who only want him for what he stands for, not who he is, including Emmett's evil harpy of a sister, Tanya. Tired of the endless pursuits of such women, he becomes more and more jaded. He continually wonders if he will ever meet a woman who is of high caliber, but who is also intelligent, witty, and spirited; when one day it happens out of nowhere. While riding his horse during a storm, he encounters a beautiful young woman walking along the road and dancing in the rain. He is intrigued and gets closer; entranced by her beautiful features, her long dark hair and gets lost in her big brown eyes. He asks politely if he could be of assistance and introduces himself, finding out she is Isabella, the daughter of a gentleman whose estate is nearby as he kisses her sweet hand. Then, with complete disregard to the duty of his station and against all rules of propriety and polite society, he leans down and kisses her soft lips.

In the days that follow, he learns that she is one of five sisters and that although her father is a land owner, they are far beneath what is considered socially acceptable for a man of his high status. To be with her would taint and ruin his family name that he is bound by duty to preserve and uphold. He determines he must distance himself from her, yet he is almost driven to madness with hopeless dreams of her. She is his heaven and hell, the one woman he had been searching his entire life for, but Isabella, no matter how beautiful, intelligent or talented, comes from an unsuitable family. His actions towards her run hot and cold and many times he treats her intolerably - trying desperately to maintain that distance; yet he is undeniably physically attracted to her and emotionally torn. Will he let her lower station in life continue to make him shun her as unattainable, or will he overcome this deeply ingrained sense of duty to pursue his desire and find happiness? Would she even accept him if he did?

Set in early nineteenth century England, this is a spectacular adaptation of Pride and Prejudice by Aspenleaf that will keep you entranced with it's poetic Victorian prose, visual imagery, character development and it's own unique twists and turns in the compelling plot. You will find this flawless story emotionally engaging, full of drama, romance, a little angst, a dastardly evil villain, action, and of course, some sweet loving! This is one of the early fanfiction classics that was just as exciting for me to re-read now as it was several years ago. Allow yourself to get immersed into another wonderful place and time and go read this!

Duty and Desire consists of 30 chapters with 115,375 words. It is rated M for themes, violence and sexual situations.

"Through the Flames" by SparklingTwilight 0

Posted by KatHat
(banner made by Romy)

Firefighters are held in the utmost esteem in our society; our modern-day heroes ready to put their lives on the line to protect any living thing in harm’s way. Lieutenant Edward Cullen is one of these men - the eldest son in a family of firefighters, along with his two younger brothers and his father who is the Fire Chief. At a glance, this family is the epitome of pillars of the community, but as we get a closer look behind the scenes, we find a highly dysfunctional group of members instead. Edward has always been the hard-working, responsible one and everyone in the family automatically has the highest expectations of him; they look to him to solve all their problems or pick up their slack and put way too much pressure on him. Carlisle expects him to run the station in his absence, pick up extra shifts and lays the heavy responsibility of watching out for the safety of his irresponsible brothers on his shift. The brothers turn to Edward for financial help when they haven’t managed their money or gambled it away and Edward bails them out. Yet, they never express gratitude or offer to pay him back. Not one of them put his needs before their own. That is, until the night he ran into a complete structure fire against orders to search for and rescue one young lady named Bella, who was reported missing according to her friends.

Struggling against the flames and collapsing building, he finally locates her, unconscious from smoke inhalation, gives her his oxygen mask and jacket and almost makes it back to the entrance when he feels the floor begin to give way under him. In a last ditch effort to save her, he throws her towards the door yelling, “Grab her!” as he plummets into the basement's darkness and the building collapses on him. When Bella regains consciousness in the hospital, the events of her accident replay back in her mind and she immediately wants to go see the firefighter that risked his life for her, especially since Edward remains unconscious in the ICU. Someone needs to be there for him to help shoulder the weight of the pain he suffers from constantly, the hardships of adjusting to being dependent and needing physical therapy, the fear of the possibility of being permanently disabled, and that person would be her because in her mind she owed him a debt of gratitude. His bravery had given her the chance to live out her life and find happiness, and with any luck, she would be able to give him the same chance.

TtF comes with heart fail and multiple tissue warnings, yet a wonderfully developed and mind-blowing plot. SparklingTwilight superbly depicts how the selfless but near-fatal act of one brave firefighter choosing someone else's life over his own, brings one troubled family to their knees; but how that event is a catalyst for changes and healing for both Edward and his family members. The author takes you on an intense journey of a man who had achieving his goals within reach, but because of who he is and a split second decision, he agonizingly almost lost it all. Will he ever be able to walk again after his back injury? Will he ever think beyond his own pain and difficulties to see the sacrifices Bella makes; how she is always there to meet his every need, calm his fears and offer words of encouragement? TtF is indeed a slow agonizing burn, but so worth it in the end. Don't miss out on this compelling story, but maybe have a box of tissues handy!

Through the Flames has 41 chapters with 200,140 words. The story is rated M for themes, language and sexual situations.

"The Last Breath" by FirstBlush 0

This magnificent story takes place in 1944 during WWII, and begins when Edward, who was in the army, is regaining consciousness. He discovers that he is in an army field hospital in London, has been recovering from a serious shrapnel injury as well as a surgery and has been unconscious for nearly two months. The story is so eloquently written that you will literally feel the vivid descriptions; such as Edward's first reactions as he wakes up to the pain, nausea and vertigo from being in a coma for so long. As the doctor explains where he is and what happened, he also offers his condolences for the loss of his wife, Bella, whose car was bombed during an air raid by the Germans in London. To say that Edward was shocked would be an understatement, but but he knows deep in his heart, that this can not possibly be true; his Bella had to be alive. As he deliberates what to do, we see through his memories how their relationship began in the first place and how their marriage came to be. Their deep love for each other despite the risks around them solidified Edward's conscious thoughts that Bella indeed, cannot be dead, because without her, he wouldn't be awake either. He is intent on being released as soon as possible to go find her, which leads him to a heart-breaking journey over two continents. What obstacles must he face and overcome in his journey to find her? What situation will he find her in and what is her story?

I was naturally drawn to this because I have a passion for historical pieces, but as I began reading FirstBlush’s passionate descriptive words, I was quickly impressed with what an intricate plot it was as well! The story pulled me in even more with its intense drama, intrigue and action and I just could not put it down. This is one of those fanfictions that will impact you on an emotional level and stay with you for days. It is brilliantly written and well-researched to be as authentic as possible - considering the time period - by FirstBlush; with enlightening explanations and links of important details given in her A/Ns. Through her words she will have you sharing a sense of urgency and determination with the main characters as they journey to survive and reunite with their loved ones. There is also a major plot twist that compounds this urgency and I promise, the action will keep you on the edge of your seat! I encourage you to check this out for yourself.

The Last Breath has 31 chapters and 170,164 words. It is rated M for themes, violence, and sexual situations.

"Cadillac" by ThisIsReallyHappening 0

Raised in poverty by her stripper mother at a tender age, Bella found her only coping mechanism to be alcohol. Along with her best friend Alice, she somehow got through life - unknowingly trying to escape and be something that she isn't. She is contemplating on buying ice-cream with the amount of money she has, when a junior behind them gets impatient and pays for them instead. Bella and Edward's first encounter definitely do not reveal each others' names - he calls her Dimples and goes by Cadillac himself - which also happens to be the very brand of the blue car he owns. Bella knows better than to get herself involved with the bad boy who smokes and seems to be hidden within himself, but she cannot help but get attracted towards Cadillac's mysterious self; were the rumors about him true?

When the two start meeting due to coincidences, they cannot help but feel the intense pull between each other, and start to get in a relationship. Unfortunately for both of them, neither of them is carrying a lighter baggage and they have to open up to each other in order to solve their issues. For Edward, Bella is an even bigger enigma than himself, and he struggles to make the decisions for her because in the end, she has to be the one to decide on what is good for her. Has her mother ruined her so much that she cannot see the difference between her true love and her love for alcohol? Will Edward be able to bring her out of her ruins before it is too late, or will he fall in the dark tunnel with her?

Cadillac is a beautiful story that will capture your hearts immediately. I will not lie, this story does contain some heavy angst and is very realistic in portraying our main characters' situations. But the love between Dimples and Cadillac is so wonderful, that it will keep you going. I loved Edward in the story, especially because he was the slightly mature one between the two, and you can feel the love he has for Bella in every touch, every word, and in his every look. He is there with her through everything, and stands by her in her toughest of times. The HEA in the end of this fanfiction will be toe-curlingly sweet, and I strongly suggest that you give this story a try! It's definitely a MUST READ :)

Cadillac consists of 40 chapters and a total of 91,783 words. The story is rated MA for alcoholism addiction, language, and sexual content.

"Unplanned" by jennde 2

Edward Cullen thought he had his life planned out. At seventeen, he knew he wanted to pursue a career in the medical field as a doctor, and planned on getting settled down after that. But he didn't expect his whole life to follow a different course of plan when he met with a small accident with a stunning brunette on her bike. Life had been a series of ups and downs when Edward's mother passed away just three weeks ago - part of the reason why he relocated to Forks to complete his final year in high school. Engrossed in his own deep thoughts, he didn't realize when he hit the poor girl's bike until they had both come to a halting stop. Their first words to each other aren't super, as no one's would be if they were to be in an accident, but it turned out that the lady - Bella - was starting her first day at the same high school as Edward. And the two seem to hit it off right away. Edward didn't think he would find the love of his life at the age of seventeen, but life doesn't always plan out the way we think. The couple continue a path in their lives neither of them planned, with their love growing each and every day. But just when they thought everything was perfect, life takes an unexpected turn yet again - this time, not a very good one. Will Edward survive?

This one-shot will beg you to read it over and over again! It's a sweet love story and our main characters hit it off - literally - right away, engrossing us readers. Let me warn you that the last third of the story is not very easy to read since there is character death involved. But please don't let this keep you from Unplanned because it is a story that you will regret missing out on! Edward and Bella are super adorable together, and their love for each other is something we all want in our lives. The best laid plans often go awry, and that saying is exactly what depicts this short story. jennde manages to create undying love, realism, and some angst all into a total of about 11,000 words and I promise you will be mind-blown. So if you are free today at work or sitting home enjoying the summer, go and read this great story - it won't take long to finish!

Unplanned is a one-shot and consists of 11,123 words. The story is rated M for language and sexual content.

"Lords of the Gangland" by LeeCullen89 0

Bella has no idea how she ended up in this perfectly tidy house that oozed out richness and wealth. One moment she was going through her life normally and the next, she was being beaten up to unconsciousness. She can't help but realize that her kidnapping has something to do with her father's occupation. Born and brought up with luxuries, she had never questioned Charlie's ability to throw money at her in every way, but when rumors started spreading around like wildfire by the time she was in high school, she knew she had to escape from him; she wanted to play no part in accepting his life as a mob-boss of Chicago. So she fled away to college and changed her name from Miss Isabella Marie Francon to Miss Isabella Marie Swan. It had been a few years of no contact between daughter and father, and now that she had been kidnapped, she couldn't help but feel as though Charlie was behind it. But when she gets out of the room she is in and meets a certain wild haired man with piercing green eyes who claims to be her father's enemy, she knows she is in deep trouble.

The spark between them is instant, but definitely uncomfortable at first. Bella is unable to meet his sharp gaze and his behaviors are starting to give her whiplash. He seems to be cruel for keeping her hostage in his house, and yet at the same time he offers her free reign to roam around his house and have meals with him during supper. When he suddenly approaches her one night to claim her as his, there is nothing she can do but allow him to have his way with her. What shocks her the most is that instead of being disgusted with the man for his actions, she feels desire. And somehow, she wants that connection with him over and over again just like him. She can't help but find the goodness in this dark man who seemed to only soften his eyes when he was staring into her own brown ones. What happened to Edward that caused him to play tortuously painful music in the wee hours of the night? And why is he filled with vengeance towards her father - what did Charlie do? Amidst all this violence and fear and suspense, combined with pasts filled with pain and sorrow, could their love make it?

Believe it or not, I just finished reading this story, and jumped to reviewing it as soon as I was done! If you are a huge fan of mafia-ward/mob-ward like I am, then this story will make it to your list of top ten. I absolutely adored this fanfiction and am so very grateful for that random email in MSB's inbox one morning that urged me to go read this story. LeeCullen89 has portrayed two beautiful characters and I found myself falling in love with her broken Edward. One thing I have to say to the audience is, please have patience with him. In the first few chapters, you may not agree with his actions, but have faith because our dear Edward has his reasons for everything. Yes, there is a chapter of rape between Edward and Bella, but I can't emphasize enough to you all : Don't let that stop you from reading the story! You have to understand that they both come from the dark world, and Edward has gone through some very f**ked up past that led him to where is now. And even while you are reading that particular chapter, you will feel that Bella is really not as apposed to it physically and she realizes that Edward never really hurt her, but his way of going about everything was incorrect. This story is about true love that strives to survive in the cruel mob world. Don't miss it guys, it's a MUST READ!!!

Lords of the Gangland consists of 20 chapters and a total of 65,018 words. The story is rated M for a rape scene, language, and sexual content.

"This Thing of Ours" by WeeKittyAndTAT 5

(banner made by time_lights)

Edward Masen owns the entire mafia business, taking the ownership after his grandfather since his father wanted to pursue a career as a doctor. Besides doing what has been in his blood for centuries now, Edward also has a public persona of a rich businessman; he owns factories of specialized weaponry - ironically. But most of all, his role as a father is what makes him him. Edward is the father of two twins Cassie and Cullen, who - though conceived by insemination - are the dearest people he holds to his heart. He is turning thirty-two soon and although he is more than content with everything that he has accomplished in his time, he can't help but feel sad about going to his bed alone at night. Everyone around him seems to have their perfect love to spend the rest of their lives with, except for him, who always seems to encounter women who want him for either his looks or his money. Bella, on the other hand, is a mysterious identity whose last name remains an enigma as the story progresses.  The two of them meet during an unfortunate, but small, accident and instantly the chemistry is charging. She is one woman who can be tough as nails on Edward, talk back at him, and care for his children like no other. Will Edward finally be able to find his true love in Bella? Or will her true identity make everything come down crashing?

This Thing of Ours is a beautiful story that combines the love of family as well as the tough reality of being in the mafia all the at the same time. One thing I absolutely love in the fic is Edward's character, who is firm in his job aspects but sweet as a sugar treat when it comes to his children. The reader quickly comes to realize that he yearns for someone to love him the way his mother does his father, or the way his best friends do with their significant others. The fact that his life is so full in terms of all of his accomplishments, yet so empty when it comes to sharing his bed with someone he can love is so heart-felt. Bella, on the other hand, is simply put - a mystery. From the very beginning of the story, we see her as a strong persona - ones that does not reveal even her full name to the people around her. Her ID states that she is twenty-one, but is she really? Meeting Edward and his children compel her to spill everything before him, but can she trust him? This story is really mind-blowing in every aspect and the authors WeeKittyAndTAT have done a really good job portraying what is going through both of their minds through alternating point of views between the characters. Don't miss this one!!

This Thing of Ours consists of 40 chapters and a total of 136,260 words (more on TWCF and FP because they are not as constricted as the fanfiction). The story is rated M for language and sexual activities.
