Diary of An Ugly Girl by Anton M 1

Posted by KatHat
(banner by Romy)

This amazing story by Anton M is set up as insanely hilarious entries to a seventeen year old Bella’s diary where her main ongoing concern is her appearance. She considers herself to be ‘ugly’-because apparently that was ingrained into her at an early age by bullies as well as her mother - as she constantly, although humorously, describes and berates her appearance throughout the story. You will sometimes hear her comparing herself to ‘fortunate’ girls, and it goes without saying that she considers herself unfortunate. She is, however, snarky, sarcastic, and witty and thus projects an outward confidence in the unique way she dresses, her love of drama class among other things, and her outrageous interactions with her big brother, Emmett.

Her junior year, Edward moves to town and starts school with them. Of course being handsome and athletic, he has instant admirers and is a shoe-in with the ‘it’ crowd. When he sits down at Bella’s lab table in science, she assures him it is pretty much social suicide to talk to her. After listening to some of her crazy ranting, he says, “You are...something else.” She pretty much assures Edward that she'd rather be the latter "else" and that she is not a person to be considered at if he was looking for "normal". But she gets caught off guard when Edward responds to her comment by saying that he is simply in need of a friend, not normalcy. After they accidentally get locked inside the school auditorium overnight after a drama practice, their friendship truly begins and the fast-paced give and take of their banter will knock your socks off as you witness the beginning of the epic journey of their relationship.

I was immediately hooked and found this to be a refreshingly unique story filled with consistent humor from Bella's thoughts and actions. But it becomes increasingly heart-wrenching as we realize it is mostly a coping mechanism for deep-seated insecurities and a hidden pain regarding Bella's past. What happened back in middle school that led her to be what she is now? What further obstacles will she have to overcome? The fanfiction not only addresses the against-the-odds journey of one remarkable young woman to search, create and develop her own identity - above and beyond what she perceives as her appearance; but she also finds her voice to address social injustices and encourages others to stand up as well, which makes the story all the more realistic in its overall plot. Right next to her in this journey is an equally remarkable young man that we watch evolve from friend, to a best friend and then more. DoaUG has left a lasting impact on me. Absolutely magnificent!

Diary of An Ugly Girl has 26 chapters with 289,228 words. It is rated M for language and sexual situations.

"Cadillac" by ThisIsReallyHappening 0

Raised in poverty by her stripper mother at a tender age, Bella found her only coping mechanism to be alcohol. Along with her best friend Alice, she somehow got through life - unknowingly trying to escape and be something that she isn't. She is contemplating on buying ice-cream with the amount of money she has, when a junior behind them gets impatient and pays for them instead. Bella and Edward's first encounter definitely do not reveal each others' names - he calls her Dimples and goes by Cadillac himself - which also happens to be the very brand of the blue car he owns. Bella knows better than to get herself involved with the bad boy who smokes and seems to be hidden within himself, but she cannot help but get attracted towards Cadillac's mysterious self; were the rumors about him true?

When the two start meeting due to coincidences, they cannot help but feel the intense pull between each other, and start to get in a relationship. Unfortunately for both of them, neither of them is carrying a lighter baggage and they have to open up to each other in order to solve their issues. For Edward, Bella is an even bigger enigma than himself, and he struggles to make the decisions for her because in the end, she has to be the one to decide on what is good for her. Has her mother ruined her so much that she cannot see the difference between her true love and her love for alcohol? Will Edward be able to bring her out of her ruins before it is too late, or will he fall in the dark tunnel with her?

Cadillac is a beautiful story that will capture your hearts immediately. I will not lie, this story does contain some heavy angst and is very realistic in portraying our main characters' situations. But the love between Dimples and Cadillac is so wonderful, that it will keep you going. I loved Edward in the story, especially because he was the slightly mature one between the two, and you can feel the love he has for Bella in every touch, every word, and in his every look. He is there with her through everything, and stands by her in her toughest of times. The HEA in the end of this fanfiction will be toe-curlingly sweet, and I strongly suggest that you give this story a try! It's definitely a MUST READ :)

Cadillac consists of 40 chapters and a total of 91,783 words. The story is rated MA for alcoholism addiction, language, and sexual content.

"Unplanned" by jennde 2

Edward Cullen thought he had his life planned out. At seventeen, he knew he wanted to pursue a career in the medical field as a doctor, and planned on getting settled down after that. But he didn't expect his whole life to follow a different course of plan when he met with a small accident with a stunning brunette on her bike. Life had been a series of ups and downs when Edward's mother passed away just three weeks ago - part of the reason why he relocated to Forks to complete his final year in high school. Engrossed in his own deep thoughts, he didn't realize when he hit the poor girl's bike until they had both come to a halting stop. Their first words to each other aren't super, as no one's would be if they were to be in an accident, but it turned out that the lady - Bella - was starting her first day at the same high school as Edward. And the two seem to hit it off right away. Edward didn't think he would find the love of his life at the age of seventeen, but life doesn't always plan out the way we think. The couple continue a path in their lives neither of them planned, with their love growing each and every day. But just when they thought everything was perfect, life takes an unexpected turn yet again - this time, not a very good one. Will Edward survive?

This one-shot will beg you to read it over and over again! It's a sweet love story and our main characters hit it off - literally - right away, engrossing us readers. Let me warn you that the last third of the story is not very easy to read since there is character death involved. But please don't let this keep you from Unplanned because it is a story that you will regret missing out on! Edward and Bella are super adorable together, and their love for each other is something we all want in our lives. The best laid plans often go awry, and that saying is exactly what depicts this short story. jennde manages to create undying love, realism, and some angst all into a total of about 11,000 words and I promise you will be mind-blown. So if you are free today at work or sitting home enjoying the summer, go and read this great story - it won't take long to finish!

Unplanned is a one-shot and consists of 11,123 words. The story is rated M for language and sexual content.

"What Happens in Biology" by Shahula 0

Posted by
(banner made by Mina)

What happens in biology, stays in biology. At least, it does when school bad-boy, Edward Cullen, decides to feel you up in said class. Bella Swan has been warned by her father to stay away from the motorcycle-riding, leather-jacket-wearing rebel, but she soon discovers that the forbidden fruit really does taste sweeter. Bella finds herself inexplicably drawn towards her biology partner. She longs for his accidental touches and ‘knee weakening crooked grins’. Though she tells herself she needs to stop, if only so as not to embarrass herself, there’s no denying it. Bella Swan is addicted. Scandalous rumors surround the mysterious Edward Cullen, but Bella finds that she craves their secret interactions in biology more than anything. Will the good girl find a way to get the bad boy to spill his secrets?

In this classic tale of rebel and police officer’s daughter, Shahula weaves in humor and sweet fluff. If a whole lot of angst is what you’re looking for, this one-shot definitely isn’t the place to go. It’s short, sweet, and is great for a little something to read after work. There’s a wonderful feel-good nature around the whole story that ensures that you’ll come out of it smiling. It’s one of those stories that you keep coming back to because you just like the beautiful simplicity of a guy meeting a girl. I’ll admit that I’m a complete sucker for romantic meet cutes and this definitely satisfied my thirst. If you haven’t read this popular one-shot yet, you should definitely put it on your ‘to-read’ list. It’s a keeper.

What Happens in Biology is a one-shot and consists of 9,646 words. This story is rated M for under-the-desk sexy times.

"Objects In Mirror Are Closer Than They Appear" by TheFicChick 2

Six years ago, both their hearts were broken. Back then, everything seemed to be perfect and yet, it wasn't. Two childhood friends who grew up to be the perfect couple in High School were facing something that they had never imagined to come between them: a break-up. It isn’t easy for either of them when Edward and Bella have to come to terms with the physical aspect of their relationship but when Bella learns about the ultimate betrayal from Edward's end, she is quick to end things without a second thought about the man she loved. While Edward, on the the other hand, doesn't get a chance to explain his actions and drowns himself in guilt and grief. But his love for Bella is ever-lasting and he is adamant on getting her back. Even now, Edward still tries day and night to come up with a way to win back Bella's trust. Is it as easy as he believes it will be? Will Bella be able to give her heart to the man she still loves, or will the past years always cloud her vision?

Objects In Mirror Are Closer Than They Appear is an amazing short story that will have you hooked from the very first chapter. Though the chapters in this story are short, almost drabble-like, they are written in a unique style—each chapter is split in half, starting in present-time and then going back six years ago in italics. Although this may be hard to explain, TheFicChick does an exemplary job in organizing the events of the story and comprehending the fic is not at all difficult. What I really loved about Objects In Mirror Are Closer Than They Are is that it really brings out the qualities of true friendship and a relationship, which portrays realism within the story. As the story progresses, the reader can really see how trust and patience are the most important things to have in any kind of a bond. The fact that this is portrayed by our favorite characters is just a cherry on the icing ;-). Don't hesitate to read this amazing story that may even give out a few important messages pertaining relationships in life!

Objects In Mirror Are Closer Than They Appear consists of 50 chapters and a total of 59,282 words. The story is rated M for some language and sexual content.

"Wicked Little Girls" by JadoreJAC 0

Posted by
(banner made by Bethany)

The move from Forks to Rolling Hills isn't a difficult transition for seventeen-year-old high school student Edward Cullen. It doesn't take long for a friendship to form between their neighbors' kids - Bella and Emmett Swan - and, by extension, their friends. Everything seems to be going well: Edward has a spot on the high school's football team, is surrounded by great friends, and has a girlfriend back in Forks but what he didn't expect was the strong attraction he and Bella shared. Though they spend a lot of time together and having the same group of friends isn't helpful, he still has an unignorable desire to make her his… He would do anything for Bella Swan, including breaking up with his girlfriend in Forks to gain the opportunity to be with her. And being with her is so worth it - more so than any of them could have imagined.

I first found Wicked Little Girls while on the hunt for a new fic to read. At first, the name turned me away - thinking it’s going to be a fic filled with unrealistic high school drama - but the first chapter was what sealed the deal. And what a wonderful story it was. Wicked Little Girls is written entirely from Edward's point of view - which I don't usually read but I loved how this Edward is portrayed. He's such a humble person, who doesn't let himself be defined by his parents' money. Though this story is not quite a slow burn, as they're attracted to each other at first sight and begin to develop feelings for one another, they're not head over heels in love by the fifth chapter. It's a well-paced, well written story that will warm your heart and make you crack up laughing.

Wicked Little Girls is complete. It consists of 25 chapters and 34,024 words. It's rated M for foul language, underage drinking, and sexual content.

"Badlands" by planetblue 0

(banner made by Mina)

Bella Swan - nicknamed Bella Swine - has been an outcast in her Florida high school ever since her mother's downfall. She has been bullied and ridiculed by most students - until Edward Masen begins attending the school, that is. Though neither of them are social butterflies and both have had difficult pasts, they manage to form a friendship. As time goes on, Bella begins to feel more than just platonic feelings towards Edward yet remains quiet, unaware that Edward's feelings towards her are changing as well. One day, when one of her junky classmates attempts to rape Bella, the two of them find themselves pushed in a corner and panic. Murder - even in self defense - isn't something that is taken lightly by the law enforcement. So they run away... Together.

Edward Masen is used to refining his defense mechanism every time he meets someone new. Whether it's his foster family or total strangers, no one comes closer than he wants them to - until he meets the one person, who makes him feel again. He feels an unexplainable pull towards Bella Swan as well as a need to protect her - especially after she stabs a classmate in self-defense. Taking her under his wing, they go state to state, stealing cars and selling his late uncle's drugs to survive. As their emotional relationship blossoms so does their physical relationship. They refuse to let anything - or anyone - get in the way of their love. Even when they're forced to part...

Badlands is one of the few fanfictions I've read within the last months that allows the reader to go back in time, and once again experience high school. One cannot help but think just how traumatic those years can be for a teenager. I had waited to read Badlands until it was complete and even once it was, I pushed off reading it, too afraid of the emotional topics it deals with. Now however, I regret not having read it sooner. It was a slow burn, as it takes time for Edward and Bella to meet and form a relationship, but it's well worth the read. Badlands is a beautifully written story, mostly told from Bella's point of view, with the exception of two chapters told from Edward's.

Badlands consists of 24 chapters and 97,301 words. It's rated MA for adult situations, drug content, language, and sex.

"Curve Ball" by staceleo (guest review by chinchin.unicorn) 0

(banner made by Mina)

When you’re a monotone, shut-in recluse, who prefers sea monkeys over cats and watches more TV all day than meeting actual friends, you think everyone else outside of your little bubble has absolutely no potential whatsoever and should stay as far away from you as they possibly can. At least that's exactly what Bella Swan thinks. Unfortunately for her, people do anything but keep a distance from her when she moves to live with Charlie her senior year in High School. Especially "Kid" a.k.a. Edward, who loves dressing up in tights and armor, cannot seem to capture the sincerity behind her grumbled "Go away, pest" and "You would look good with a black eye from a knuckle sandwhich", and - with absolutely no sense of self-preservations whatsoever - determinedly ninjas his way into Bella's life, heart, and (black soul).

In an oncoming of undesirable and unfortunate events, Bella’s perfectly bleak life must now adjust to the presence of individuals like Trailer Park Barbie, James Taylor, Teeny Tiny Dictator, Kate Hudson, Teeth, Boobs, Cheech, and a whole slew of characters that turn her life upside down. Suddenly, the black-dressing, big-sweater-loving, doesn't-like-to-bend-to-the-standards-of-society loner is gone - well, almost. Bella now finds herself surrounded by friends and family that she just can't seem to get rid of (no matter how hard she tries) and, eventually, actually likes to have in her life. After all, they slowly manage to melt her dark heart...

If you’re looking for a fast-read which will stimulate your funny bone and make you question the way you look at life, then take a look at Curve Ball. It is ridiculously funny and when I say “ridiculous”, just imagine Jenna Marbles talking and you know how awesome the story is. It’s mostly told from Bella’s POV, with the POV of oddball and gallant knight Edward thrown in there every now and then. The two take you back to High School, a time in a person's life that seems to be so simple but is actually anything but. It is mixed with lots of romance and tons of satire and sarcasm - if the latter is not your thing then the story is definitely not for you. Of all the amazing stories staceleo has written so far, Curve Ball is probably one of my favorites. It is the first story in a trilogy and is followed by two sequels. Go ahead and give it a try!

Curve Ball consists of 101 chapters and 59,076 words. The story is rated M for foul language and lemons. Two sequels have already been published, Grand Slam (complete), and Home Run (WIP).

"Little Fish, Big Fish" by Paige Parkker & Michelle M. Marie 0

(banner made by time-lights)

Unique, quirky, and honest Bella Swan has just lost her mother and embarks on a roadtrip to Forks with her best friend Jasper, In the small rainy town, Bella will have to live with her father Charlie, who she really doesn't know, but allows her and Jasper to stay together, like they have always been, in order to get to know the daughter he missed. Bella is a free spirit and not really happy about having to spend any amount of time in that small town in Washington. The young woman is the definition of a flower child with an unique sense of fashion. She likes to smoke pot and commune with nature. Her love for photography and art is also a useful way to cope with the pain of losing her mother. Jasper is her same soul and rock, she shares a special relationship with him and relies on it to help her move on.

Meanwhile, handsome, intelligent, manwhore Edward Cullen is bored and done with his life. Edward is the popular jock of Forks High, wanted by all the girls and envied by all the guys. However, he is unhappy with his life for he was molded into being the perfect student and athlete by his di*k of a father. Luckily, Edward has the support of his mother, but the obligation he feels to carry on his older brother's legacy has him stuck between a rock and hard place. It is in this mindframe that he meets Bella. Both Bella and Edward have no idea what will happen when their universes collide, but it could likely be the change they have both been waiting for. Follow the life of Bella and Edward as they meet in high school, fall in love, and part painfully only to reunite as adults – under very different circumstances.

Little Fish, Big Fish is a collab between Paige Parkker - who writes the point of view of funny and quirky Bella - and Michelle M Marie - who writes the point of view of morose and manwhore Edward. Though Edward and Bella are so different, they still seem to be perfect for each other. There were some funny moments that had us belly laughing, as well as heart-breaking ones that had us reaching for the ice cream and booze. Both Bella and Edward have issues, but together they discover more about life and themselves than they he could have ever imagined. This story is all about growing up, learning from your mistakes, and making amends. It is an amazing read, one you won't regret, and the happily ever after is just right, not over done, simply like it was always meant to be. So, go check out this great story and don't forget to leave a review!

Little Fish, Big Fish consists of 35 chapters and a total of 237,245 words. The story is rated MA for lemons, coarse language and drug use.

"At Your Own Risk" by xrxdanixrx 0

 (banner made by Jaime)

Everyone at school knows the infamous, rebellious, and sexy Bella Swan. She always wears black, rides a decrepit truck and her constant blue eye shadow is copied by every girl in Forks High School. But who is she really, apart from the rumors? Straight-laced Edward can’t help but admire the rebel girl from afar, but his focus is on his studies. He needs to keep up his grades to become a doctor just like he told his father he would. The pressure is on and there is no time to slack. But when his girlfriend leaves on a trip to Italy, things start to change. The once sure and confident Edward starts having doubts and his fascination of Bella reaches new levels when he starts attending a cooking class while waiting for a slot in Philosophy to open. Imagine his surprise when the always absent Bella actually attends that class, too. Soon, Edward finds himself immersed in the world of Bella Swan: booze, cigarettes, ditching, and even dropping some f-bombs. Edward stumbles down a dark path trying to understand her. But in the end, will it be worth it? Yes, Bella Swan’s plan to corrupt the young preppy Cullen has paid off, but the last thing she ever expected was to fall in love with him.

Simply put, this story was amazing! Edward starts as this focused preppy student who has barely even made out with his girlfriend and gradually turns into this bad boy that fucks Bella seven ways to Sunday. The change is gradual and really well written. We didn’t even notice how much he had changed until in one chapter Edward fights with Carlisle (who is a total prick of a father in this fic) and drops an f-bomb right there in his face. I don’t know who was more shocked - him or us - when Carlisle asked him “When did you change?” We were surprised by that, because like we said, the change was so gradual that it was… well, seamless. It’s not a night and day change, and honestly it was about damn time. Edward was pretty much bullied to follow his father’s footsteps. He has always felt neglected by Carlisle, who showed more affection for Jasper, his nephew, than for his own son. Edward never shows he is jealous of Jasper, but there is resentment there, and when the changes start happening, he starts pushing his cousin away. But there is more to this story, and that is the mystery of Bella Swan. Nobody really knows what's the deal between her and the Quilleute boys. Is she really Jacob Black’s girlfriend? Has she really fucked every single male student, and even some female? Is she a drug dealer? Did she really try to kill a student? So many rumors flow around Bella’s character that you really don’t know who to believe. Edward discovers little by little the truth behind those rumors, and in the process he falls in love with the girl that seems to have a vault sealed shut around her heart. Bella’s life is a mystery, one the reader will discover piece by piece alongside Edward. There will be some ups, and some very lows, but in the end the truth and love will prove victorious. Go check out this amazing fic by xrxdanixrx. You won’t regret it!

At Your Own Risk consists of 33 chapters and a total of 207,467 words. The story is rated MA for lemons, coarse language, drug use and violent situations.

"Good Deal" by m7707 0

(banner made by Jaime)

Bella Swan is not popular. To be fair, it’s hard to be popular when the ice-queen of the school hates your guts. Lucky for Bella, the feeling is mutual. She hates the narcissistic Rosalie Hale and her vain posse and, more than anything, she hates Rosalie’s perfect life and her perfect boyfriend. When she sees said boyfriend, Edward Cullen, she figures that a little revenge is in order. On a whim, she pulls Edward into the back of his Volvo and gives him the best blow-job he’s ever had. After that, they fall into some sort of unspoken agreement: whenever Rosalie does something that annoys Bella, she’ll come to Edward and... works off her anger. Edward isn’t complaining - he gets more from Bella than he’s ever gotten from Rosalie. However, one day of blood-testing in Biology class and a pint of Ben & Jerry’s changes everything.

Suddenly, Bella doesn’t need Rosalie to annoy her anymore in order to get together with Edward, who is now softer and gentler with her. Their entire dynamic changes completely and they both know that it isn’t Rosalie anymore, who is "binding" them together. The more time they spend together, the more they reveal about one another, and the more they find themselves falling for each other. Soon, Edward is taking Bella out to dinner and their relationship is so different from what it was when it started. And both are only thinking one thing: it’s too good to be true. Will they be able to take it to the next level, or will their own insecurities hold them back?

Author m7707 is a personal favorite of mine. I’ve always loved her work and Good Deal is definitely no exception to that. Her writing is so smooth and sweet to read and with Good Deal, she introduces a Bella, who is completely different from those that I usually read. Because this Bella is confident, snarky, and not afraid to go after what she wants. When what she wants is to get revenge on Rosalie, things turn out for the better for both her and Edward. Edward, in this story, is a complete sweetheart. His confusion and awkwardness whenever Bella leaves after one of their rendezvous is absolutely priceless and wonderful to read. Good Deal, which is written from BPOV, is short and sweet and one of those stories that’s great for a quick read before bed. If you haven’t read it yet, you should definitely give it a try!

Good Deal consists of 10 chapters and a total of 20,978 words. This story is rated M for graphic lemons and foul language.

"A Constant in the Darkness" by camoozle 0

Posted by
(banner made by Mina)

Bella Swan is not like any of the other girls in town. Unhappy with her life, she has completely given up on herself; something that is mostly due to her more than traumatic past. Her father's constant negligence and abusive behavior, have caused Bella to consider herself to be a boring and, more importantly, useless person who no one would want anything to do with. Because of her low self esteem and the bad childhood she had to endure, Bella has also developed an eating disorder before the age of ten. When she was young, she used to be able to swallow down at least some food, but now all she can do is pretend to eat small bites before immediately excusing herself and throw up the little food she managed to get down. Even though Bella does not care about being pretty, she knows that her disorder is something that sets her back from all the other girls in town. That said, Bella is unable to control herself and runs to the bathroom whenever she's eaten...

Edward Cullen is just as broken as Bella, if not more. With his horrid past constantly at the back of his mind, Edward's only way to cope is to cook. In fact, he has become so good over the years that he aspires to become a professional chef. Through cooking, Edward is able to focus on a single task and forget the terrible events his life has consisted of so far. All he wants to do is escape his demons and be normal, just for a few moments. When Bella walks into High School as the new girl in town, he can't help but feel attracted to the thin, yet beautiful brunette. But with his past always surrounding him, he refuses to get to know her too much in fear of losing her. Edward's sister Alice though, is able to instantly connect with Bella and her ability to read tarot cards only adds to her intuition that the two of them - Edward and Bella - are meant for each other. But how long will it be before the two of them have to spill their dark secrets to each other? And how will they be able to fix each other up, especially when Bella can't eat and only thing Edward is good at is cooking?

camoozle has written is beautiful story and I highly recommend this to all you Twilight fanfic readers out there! This fanfiction evoked many emotions within me when I was reading it and my heart went out to both the characters and their tragic pasts. The story definitely contains two broken people who are extremely upset with their lives and themselves. Yet despite all the angst, I think that the depth that the characters Edward and Bella were given by the author deserves an applause. It is because of their complicated personalities that readers will feel drawn to the story from the very first word. Furthermore, the story fluctuates between both Edward's and Bella's perspectives, so it is easy to follow through what is going on between each of their lives. I will say that the story is not an easy read, it will arise a lot emotions within you, but that only increases your love for the story. You will not be disappointed in camoozle's writing style as well since there are close to no grammatical errors and the flow of the events that occur are very understandable. Her very vivid descriptions of the delicious dishes Edward makes are absolutely mouthwatering! This fanfiction has received a lot of popularity, but I think there are quite a number of people who still havn't read it and I hope this rec serves as a shout out for you all to go ahead and begin reading the story now! I promise you won't be disappointed - in fact, you will find yourself ranking this story in your top ten lists of great stories! A MUST read!!!

A Constant in the Darkness consists of 36 chapters and a total of 351,739 words. The story is rated M for language, overall content, and lemons.

"Come straight home and don't make eye contact with anyone. Don't talk to anyone except a teacher asks you a question directly."

Bella Swan's life is miserable - and that might even be the biggest understatement ever. From a normal bystander's point of view, all seems to be fine with the Swan family; but what actually happens behind closed doors is far from good. After their mother goes through a miscarriage of what was to be a baby boy, Bella's parents changed completely, personality-wise. Gone are the devoting and loving parents and they are replaced by two brutal adults, who seek nothing but power and absolute control over their two remaining daughters Bella and Alice. Alice, being the elder sister, instead of protecting both herself and her baby sister, turned to Bella to be beaten and blamed her for things that she didn't do. This, in turn, brings her parents attention back to Bella and from then on, she becomes the daily victim of cruel abuse. As she is not willing to confide in anyone about her horrible life, she is left alone in her suffering and pain...

So Bella continues to endure her miserable life in silence until, on the first day of school, she meets Edward Cullen in her biology class. As her lab partner and secret-admirer, Edward is more than aware of her injuries and wounds (not instantaneously, but as they start somewhat of a friendship between themselves). So when he feels like the right time arrives, he approaches Bella and carefully asks her about her scars. But Bella is adamant on keeping her secrets to herself, forcing Edward to figure things out on his own. And figure it out, he does. But that only motivates him from caring for Bella even more so than before. Despite all the strict rules and regulations she has to live by, Bella too can't help but get closer to the young man. Before she knows it, she has fallen for Edward deeply and and it doesn't take long before she finds out that he loves her just as much. Moreover, Edward is willing to help her through her difficulties and stand by her no matter what. But before either of them could devise a plan to escape, Charlie and Renee find out about Bella's love affair. If they were brutal before, than they are ruthless now. Will Edward be able to save Bella or can they only find peace in death?

I don't have to say it again - the fact alone that this is the fourth story by Livie79 that I review on MSB shows that she is a great author and that each and every one of her fanfictions is great. And yes, Que Sera, Sera (or "what will be, will be" translated into English) is no exception to that. This story has an amazing plot and portrays a realistic, yet horrible, example of parental abuse. That the story is labeled 'horror' is definitely justified, even if it doesn't contain any vampires and werewolves. To go through such a torturous life is equivalent to having no life at all, and to live and suffer in silence is the worst possible horror for the victim. And Livie is able to explain and describe all that extremely well; so well in fact that I must warn you: this story is MA, meaning that it is definitely nothing for the weak-hearted. It contains graphic descriptions of violence, characters die, and blood flows. But have faith everyone, I promise that this fanfic does have a HEA - albeit a unique one; at the end of the fanfic you will be happy for the couple. Thirteen horrifying yet attention-grabbing chapters (you can guess why the number 13) that will have you biting your nails and keep you at the edge of your seats!

Que Sera, Sera consists of 13 chapters and 45,174 words. The story is rated MA for abuse, language, and sexual content.

"If You Could Read My Mind" by bella c'ella luna 0

One huge misunderstanding, mixed emotions, and broken hearts - this is what this story is about. Unable to live with her ridiculous mother anymore, Bella Swan decides to move back in with her father, to the small town of Forks. And though the latter mostly brings up peaceful memories for Bella, one particular instant comes constantly back to haunt her. The young high school student simply can't get over the fact that she dated Edward Cullen for the summer she spent with her dad, only to have to break up with him, once she had to return back home. She has absolutely no desire to face the boy again; a boy, who broke her heart in more than one way and left her stranded. Her resolve of staying away from Edward only grows bigger after Bella's first day back at Forks High, when he speaks more than harshly with her. Yet although Bella is firm in her decision to simply ignore Edward and his remarks for as long as necessary, she can't help but feel the same intense spark every time he is near her. The same spark that was there that one summer, as four years ago...

Four years ago, Edward Cullen, tried to deal with the remnants of his very traumatic past; a past he only shared with Bella. So when, one fine day, the whole town knows about what happened to him, the only conclusion he can come to is that Bella must have been the one to spread the info. It marked the end of their relationship and Bella went back to Phoenix. But now, she was back, permanantly, and Edward felt the need to be downright cruel to her. Yet despite his "hatred" toward her, he can't help but notice how much Bella has grown into a woman since the last time he saw her - both intellectually and physically. It definitely contradicts the feelings he is desperately trying to have toward, yet he can't help but feel that, deep in his heart, he still loves that girl. What happens when he finds out that Bella actually wasn't the person to cause him harm and that everything between them was a mere misunderstanding? Will Bella be able to forgive him for everything she went through in those four years and the treatment she received from him in school?

If You Could Read My Mind is a story that can't be praised are enough. The story is so intricate in its plot that the reader almost can't help but get hooked into the story from as early as the prologue. The latter, in fact, consists of a beautiful poem by Gordon Lightfoot that captures the gist of the story extremely well - already that beginning had me really excited about reading the story. The reader is able to know both sides of the story as the chapters are written from Edward's and Bella's perspectives, which often brings up moments when you just want to scream at the two of them and beg them to talk and sort everything out. But that desperation only drives you to continue reading the story, waiting for the moment when all the beans have been spilled and the two finally get back together. I absolutely loved this fanfiction and I have to say "hat's off" to bella c'ella luna for coming up with such an amazing plot! That being said, I have no doubt that all of you readers out there will fall in love with this story, too. Oh, and did I mention that the lemons are so hot? A must read!!!

If You Could Read My Mind consists of 39 chapters and a total of 143,353 words. The story is rated M for language, content, and hot sexual activities.

"My Sweet Variable" by LifeInTheSnow 1

Mathematic genius Bella Swan and science geek Edward Cullen seem like ordinary high school students. Two boring teenagers, who seem to not know each other and go through the usual high school drama with their friends. But in reality, however, the two of them know each other really well and are so much more than mere students at Forks High. They are trained undercover agents taken in because of their incredible intelligence and given assignments to assassinate targets on a regular basis. And even though the people they kill are involved in some pretty severe illegal activities, Bella and Edward feel guilt over the fact that they are in fact murdering a human being. Innocent or not, it is not easy to have someone else's blood on your hands, and that is exactly the case for our dear couple. But they are hanging on, at least until they turn nineteen, because that is when they will be allowed to finally be free from their organization and be the normal teenagers that they want to be. But until then, they are under constant observation by their boss Aro, who is able to hear every conversation they carry through microphones. What will happen when he wants them to kill innocent people? Can the two lovers somehow find a way to escape from the organization?

LifeInTheSnow has written a short, but a wonderful story that is very much under-appreciated! The plot is very unusual and will surprise you in each chapter with its unexpected twists and turns. Furthermore, you will definitely be able to connect with the characters and feel their desperation to be normal teenagers and stop all the bloodbath. So when they finally start finding clues to breach the organization that they work in, they take it up on themselves to destroy Aro and his plans to kill innocent people. But the task is not as easy as it seems and the hurdles in their way is something that they have to figure out together. The question is - will they be able to get away from the problems that come their way? This is a story that definitely should not be missed at all, especially not if you are fan of mysterious undercover agent work! The author uses very vivid details which makes the fanfiction so much more entertaining. The best part is that the story is written in third person's perspective, so it is really easy to follow the events that are happening within the fanfic. Even though My Sweet Variable only consists of eighteen chapters, you will be amazed how well-structured and fantastic this story is. I highly recommend it! I promise it won't disappoint at all!

My Sweet Variable consists of 18 chapters and 69,798 words. The story is rated M for language and some sexual reference.

"Miserable at Best" by SimplyDazzling 2

"It wasn't an invitation, but at the same time it wasn't a rejection either. I took a deep, steady breath as I kept my eyes on the side of his tense face. 'I know it's not in my place to talk about, but if you do want someone to talk to sometime, I'll be ready to listen.' He pulled into my driveway then, eyes still staring directly in front of him and nowhere else as he put the car into park. The hard line of his jaw only increased, as did the slight strain present in all his other features. He still hadn't said anything. I bit my lip as I unbuckled my seatbelt, just sitting there for a few seconds in the thick silence as I waited a little longer. I wondered idly if he had even heard what I had said or not."

Bella Swan has just recently moved to Forks, Washington, to get closer to her father Charlie. On her first day of school at Forks High, she feels uneasy and nervous, hoping to be able to make new friends quickly. Trying to push her devasting experiences from elementary school to the back of her mind, Bella manages to get acquainted with a small group of people - without even having to approach them. Alice Cullen literally dances up to her, asking if she would like to be friends, and the rest, as they say, is history. The two seniors are glued at the hip and because they spend so much time together, it is inevitable that Bella meets Alice's cousin Edward. She has only heard about but never met him as Edward tends to be regularly absent from class. Alice tells Bella that her cousin has been going through a lot, resulting in him cutting himself off from the world around him. His rude and arrogant behavior is nothing but a mask to keep people at bay and even though Alice advises Bella not to try and "fix" him, Bella can't seem to stay away from the handsome, young man. The more Edward pushes her away, the more she gets determined to make him confide in her. She wants him to trust her but has no idea why. Why does she care so much about this heartbroken man?

Very intense -  two words that perfectly describe the whole story. SimplyDazzling has really put together a heart-clenching story that will probably leave you wanting to read it over and over again. The author managed to create an intricate plot-line with amazing, yet sometimes annoying, characters that you will fall in love with - I know I definitely did. I think what makes this story so great is the fact that SimplyDazzling really uses a very descriptive way of describing Bella's (very mature) thoughts and emotions. The story is completely written from her point of view, yet because of her being very observant and conscious of her surrounding you won't miss out on any important details. I really think SimplyDazzling has done a phenomenal job in writing this fanfiction. A fanficion that, without a doubt, is strikingly similar to the amazing and very popular fanfiction "How To Save Your Life" by unholy.obsession (especially in terms of the characters), yet that is written and carried out in a completely different manner. Miserable at Best made me tear up and cry at several points - something that is extremely hard to to! Please please PLEASE go ahead and read this story! If not you will miss out on a very under-appreciated fanfiction and definitely deserves a 'chapeau'!

Miserable at Best consists of 36 chapters and 185,314 words. The story is rated MA for angst, dark themes and lemons.

"Major Misconduct" by m7707 0

(banner made by Jaime)

"I officially met Edward Cullen the first day of my junior year in high school." And things were never the same for Isabella Swan after that. Strictly speaking, popular hockey player Edward Cullen and shy Bella Swan should never have had the connection that they did. Once they meet, though, there’s no stopping them. Introduced in biology class and held together by their mutual friends, Edward and Bella spend more and more time together. Edward can’t stop thinking about the timid, brown-eyed beauty and Bella can’t believe that he’s still after her, even after he’s witnessed her clumsiness: "Be safe. If you fall, I won’t be around to catch you until then." They’re both oblivious to the other’s attraction and, like true high-schoolers, need several pushes in the right direction to get to where they both want to be. Sweet first kisses and dates on the ice rink set up what will become one epic romance. But things can’t stay perfect forever...

Just as things between the new couple become better than either of them had dreamed of, Edward’s past comes back to haunt him. And Bella. When James, a vengeful and criminally bloodthirsty rival of Edward’s comes back, it is not just Edward who gets burned. Soon, Bella finds herself constanly having to watch her back in order to make sure that she doesn’t fall in the hands of a villain. Edward never thought he'd see the day when his enemies would put his girlfriend in danger, and now that it's happening, it's taking everything in him not to go mad with guilt. When he closes his eyes, all he sees is the broken, battered body of the girl he loves more than anything else. Will love be enough to keep them coming back to each other? We were young, and we’d learned the hard way that nothing in this life was certain, but there was no doubt in my mind we had something very special together.

Major Misconduct may have started off as a high-school love story, but the kind of love I read in this story is so much beyond just that. The first time I read this story, it left me speechless. The second time, it warmed my heart. The third time, I finally realized why I kept coming back for more, which is because this story has everything. It has humor, drama, romance, family, friendship, and just the right amount of fear. It’s also very real. At the end of the day, they’re high school students, and m7707 knows how to make it believable. In everything they do, though, it’s clear that they love each other deeply. It starts off as watching each other from afar, to flirting, to being willing to die for each other. The way m7707 wrote this fanfiction - which is completely written from Bella's POV - made sure that I was captivated by it from page one and I could hardly stop reading until I reached the end of the last chapter. Despite the minimal grammatical errors, m7707’s writing is simply perfect. This is a story that no one should miss out on!

Major Misconduct consists of 36 chapters and 160,515 words. This story is rated MA for language, a little violence, and descriptive sexual activities. Coincidental Major, the events written from Edward's POV, can be found here.
