"Curve Ball" by staceleo (guest review by chinchin.unicorn) 0

When you’re a monotone, shut-in recluse, who
prefers sea monkeys over cats and watches more TV all day than meeting actual friends, you think everyone else
outside of your little bubble has absolutely no potential whatsoever and should
stay as far away from you as they possibly can. At least that's exactly what Bella Swan thinks. Unfortunately for her, people do anything but keep a distance from her when she moves to live with Charlie her senior year in High School. Especially "Kid" a.k.a. Edward, who loves dressing up in tights and armor, cannot seem to capture the sincerity behind her grumbled "Go away, pest" and "You would look good with a black eye from a knuckle sandwhich", and - with absolutely no sense of self-preservations whatsoever - determinedly ninjas his way into Bella's life, heart, and (black soul).
In an oncoming of undesirable and
unfortunate events, Bella’s perfectly bleak life must now adjust to the
presence of individuals like Trailer Park Barbie, James Taylor, Teeny Tiny
Dictator, Kate Hudson, Teeth, Boobs, Cheech, and a whole slew of characters that turn her life upside down. Suddenly, the black-dressing, big-sweater-loving, doesn't-like-to-bend-to-the-standards-of-society loner is gone - well, almost. Bella now finds herself surrounded by friends and family that she just can't seem to get rid of (no matter how hard she tries) and, eventually, actually likes to have in her life. After all, they slowly manage to melt her dark heart...
If you’re looking for a fast-read which will stimulate your funny bone and
make you question the way you look at life, then take a look at Curve Ball. It
is ridiculously funny and when I say “ridiculous”, just imagine Jenna
Marbles talking and you know how awesome the story is. It’s mostly told from
Bella’s POV, with the POV of oddball and gallant knight Edward thrown in there every
now and then. The two take you back to High School, a time in a person's life that seems to be so simple but is actually anything but. It is mixed with lots of romance and tons of satire and sarcasm - if the latter is not your thing then the story is definitely not for you. Of all the amazing stories staceleo has written so far, Curve Ball is probably one of my favorites. It is the first story in a trilogy and is followed by two sequels. Go ahead and give it a try!
Curve Ball consists of 101 chapters and 59,076 words. The story is rated M for foul language and lemons. Two sequels have already been published, Grand Slam (complete), and Home Run (WIP).
