"Shadow Mission" by maxigrumpling 1

When you look at the many popular images of Edward Cullen, you can clearly recognize the devastatingly handsome A-list movie star who has an outstanding reputation for immersing himself into the characters he portrays. He has just completed the fifth installment of a highly successful series called “Shadow Mission” where he plays the lead role of Special Agent, James Goodall. The only problem is, he doesn’t always come out of character when he leaves the set. This personality shift apparently happens as a defense mechanism triggered by confrontation or stress in his life and seems to have started after an unresolved tragedy that happened five years ago which resulted in the death of his former bodyguard, Charlie Swan. In addition to his mental instability, he can’t remember anything from before that time, he hears voices in his head, has nightmares and has his current bodyguard, Emmett McCarty, at wits end to keep him safe and protected; especially when he slips into other personalities. What exactly happened years ago when Charlie was shot that left him so traumatized? Why was there no resolution to the investigation? Why can’t Emmett find any records of Edward’s life before that time?

Bella Swan was his closest friend when Edward was a beginning actor and her dad was his bodyguard. They did many things together on a daily basis and over the years, even though she was a little too young to be in a relationship with him, they both harbored feelings of more than friendship that they never acted on. She had hopes that one day it could all work out, but suddenly, after Charlie’s tragic and mysterious death, Edward cut all ties with her. He did not even attend Charlie’s funeral or send any condolences or respond to any calls. She was blocked and denied at every attempt to contact him by Edward’s agent, Tanya Denali, and after repeated attempts, she finally decided she had had enough. It had been five years and she wanted some answers. After being turned away at the gate to Edward’s mansion, she scaled the fence, fell out of the tree, was promptly apprehended by security, and she still demanded to see Edward! What will happen? Will she ever get to see Edward and get answers? Will he remember her?

This is a spectacular fanfiction! You will be immediately pulled in to Shadow Mission by the brilliant writing and sequencing of maxigrumpling, but get this - the plot and story-line are from Mr. maxigrumpling! How cool of a collaboration is that? The author also uses a clever ploy of successfully writing this in multiple first person POVs, which gives you a feeling of being omnipresent, like you are viewing changing scenes in a movie and can see action happening through the eyes of different people; one of those being the most impressive Emmett characters you will have ever met. Shadow Mission will get your adrenaline pumping as it is a fast-paced, action-packed mystery full of intrigue and conspiracy that will appeal to you on a wide range of emotions. On top of the danger and suspense, there is comfort, humor and at the heart of it is of course, the truly inspiring and healing joy of rediscovering a lost love. “Cutlass” by TKegl 2

(banner made by Brandi)

Captain Edward Cullen was popularly known as one of the most ruthless, murdering, thieving, dread pirates of the Atlantic Ocean, particularly of the areas between the Caribbean and the American colonies. He ran a tight ship named the Black Arrow, and rightly so since it was one of the fastest pirate ships in the known world. He needed the speed of his boat and the utmost respect and loyalty of his crew because he wasn’t just after any treasure, he was on a quest searching for specific relics portrayed in a cryptic journal he possessed that were rumored to be the keys to finding a hidden, enormous Aztec treasure. The main problem was, there was only half a map known to exist and it was currently in the hands of his arch-nemesis and competition for the treasure - another notorious but vile pirate - one that Edward had vowed to get his revenge against for more reasons than one. Said pirate was also constantly evading being caught by ships of the Crown; a wanted man for all his heinous crimes.

Raised a proper young lady, Isabella is convinced the notorious pirate Edward Cullen is responsible for her father's death two years ago, since "Cullen" was the last word he spoke with his dying breath. His prized cutlass with a large sapphire inlaid in the handle had also been stolen, and from her private investigator, she had gained knowledge that Cullen is, in fact, in possession of it. Come hell or high water, she was determined that she would get her revenge for her father's death and get the cutlass back. So she flattens her breasts with strips of cloth, disguises herself in breeches and other clothing of a young boy, rolls her long hair up and tucks it in a hat and manages to get hired on board the Black Arrow. Her target is the captain, ‘One-Eyed-Eddie’, wearing the black patch that covers the scar of his missing eye and his signature red bandana tied over his long hair that is twisted into reddish brown dreads. She will just bide her time until she can get to him and then, kill him! Will she get her revenge and retrieve her father’s cutlass? Or will she be discovered and find out things are may not be as they seem?

Of course Cutlass by TKegl is loosely based on the Pirates of the Caribbean, but the author definitely puts her own unique spin on it. At her flawless words and vivid imagery, you will experience a total immersion with cut-throat adventures on the high seas and beyond, and the characters and action will spring to life before your very eyes! Her Bella is one kick-ass little hellion that doesn't take grief off of anyone. She gets herself into all kinds of difficult circumstances, but a well-placed knee to the groin, a punch in the nose or a rum jug smashed up side a head usually takes care of it! Eddie's one hot, sexy, tough-as-nails pirate, but has all kinds of secrets of his own, like where he came from and how he came to be a pirate. These two constantly butt heads and antagonize each other and the tension builds and builds until...you’ll have to read to find out! There is action and adventure in every chapter along with mystery and intrigue, all shrouded in danger and of course UST and more! Batten down the hatches, mates, and jump on board with TKegl for this voyage of your life! (Unedited version of the story can also be found on Archive of Our Own.)

Cutlass consists of 27 chapters and a total of 134,307 words. The story is rated M for content and sexy times.

Sergeant Major Edward Cullen is finally coming home stateside from his last tour of duty overseas and contemplating whether he should sign up for another one. After twenty years in the military and his age pushing forty, was he as ready as he thought for a change of pace? On the other hand, his entire life thus far has been spent in tents and the military way... As he is contemplating these options, a big rock suddenly comes out of nowhere and hits his windshield as he driving under an overpass. Infuriated, he pulls over, chases the culprit through the woods and collars him, finding out that the rock was in fact thrown by a very big and angry fourteen year old Emmett James, son of one Bella James. Edward is wondering what kind of Medusa-headed woman would have that kind of delinquent for a son; little did he know he was so wrong...

When he pulls up to the house with Emmett, three other boys tumble out of the front door and Edward starts wondering what kind of mess he really got himself into. But when their mom steps out of the door to talk with him, this big ol’ veteran army man right about falls to his knees in shock. How did these four boys come from this petite beauty? She barely comes up to his shoulder, with slender beautiful body, long brown hair and beautiful soulful eyes.  But the very same beauty seems to gone through a world of hardships raising four rambunctious boys on her own due to the death of her late husband, Mac; who had also been in the army. As Edward observes her while they talk, he notices the lines of fatigue that did not seem to belong on her beautiful face and suddenly feels the urge to help her alleviate these burdens. Sergeant Cullen, confirmed bachelor, has feelings stirring inside for this woman that he has never felt before. Even though he internally argues with himself that he doesn’t do commitment, it was like the gauntlet was thrown down for him when he met Bella. Is Edward man enough to step in and pick up where Mac left off and make this family whole again? Will the boys even want him to?

The Bigger They Are is written in EPOV and is an absolutely beautiful, heartwarming fanfiction by the very talented LadyExcalibur. The writing is flawless and the pacing is perfect on this amazing journey as Edward gradually works himself into their lives and grows to know, love and win over every one of these boys; each in their own unique way. Witness their characters develop and grow! In the process, of course, he slowly woos Bella right off her feet. I mean, who can resist a strong, sexy Sergeantward? What a gem this man is and you, too, will be yearning and swooning right along with her! It’s also witty and humorous, with Edward having many conversations with his - um, ‘manhood’ as he works through dilemmas that will have you chuckling! What a delight to read that will keep you hitting ‘next’, ‘next’ and ‘next’! There is also companion piece that accompanies this including different POVs called, The Harder They Fall.

The Bigger They Are consists of 78 chapters and a total of 304,177 words. It is rated M for language and sexual activities.

Bella has been locked inside her home because her nightmares haunt her every single day. she tries to help her father Charlie, Chief of Police, as much as she can, but there is only so much she can do by staying at home and suffering... After the death of her best friend Rosalie, she has been more than devastated and not gotten out of her secluded home in order to get away from the murderer. Because you see, Bella has nightmares of how the killer carries out the murder with his victim - a power that she sees as her demise, because no one should ever have to go through that kind of pain. Imagine going through the abuse and torture repeatedly as if she were the victim, making it especially hard on her when it came to witnessing her best friend's outcome. Living through death every night literally paralyzed her and affected her own health when she finally came to consciousness, yet she did her best to help Charlie locate the bodies of the victims whenever another nightmare struck her. But when Rosalie's brother, her friend, and Charlie's FBI colleague Edward turns out to be the next unusual victim, she knows that she cannot let anything happen to him...

Edward has been trying to locate this serial killer for a long time now, but after the death of his beloved sister, he must find his hideout and put an end to the killer's sick fantasies. So one day, he decides to follow the tracks in the woods and somehow figure out a way to the lion's den in order to capture him and find out why this murderer kidnapped young women and buried them alive so senselessly. Unfortunately for him, things obviously do not go as planned when he falls for a trap and finds himself struggling to break through. The next time he opens his eyes, he is around Chief Swan and his daughter Bella, whom he hadn't seen since Rose's death. Where had she been all along, and more importantly, how did they know where to find him? Will Edward be able to digest Bella's secret and join forces with the woman he loves to bring down the killer?

Buried is definitely an emotional roller-coaster that will have you on the edge of your seats! ericastwilight has written an extremely unique plot that you may only have encountered in maybe an episode of SVU on television. And let me tell you this story is just as amazing as any other murder mystery out there and you really start feeling for the characters. On one hand, there is Edward who is both angry and heartbroken over his sister and desperately wants to punish whoever the sick bastard is, and on the other hand we have Bella, who goes through death almost every night and is brave enough to stand up and help out in any way that she can. I am not to going to say that this is an easy read, but I will say that if you have read anything by ericastwilight, you know that it is very well-written with a great plot and a HEA. So hold on to your seat belts and buckle in to experience this wild ride! Definitely don't miss out on it!

Buried consists of 36 chapters and a total of 74,889 words. The story is rated MA for violence, language, and content.
