Ever since his brother Alex and his wife had a baby, Edward has been noticing Bella start to act differently. They were together since college, and with a ring safely secured in the back of his pocket, Edward was ready to make their dreams come true. But her lack of response regarding anything these past couple of days was making it hard for Edward to pop the question. Far from actually, because Bella was acting - to put it bluntly - like a self-righteous bitch who kept pushing him away over and over again. There was no doubt to Edward that something was majorly wrong with Bella but no matter how much he pushed, she would distract him and avoided conversation. Her cold nature was burning Edward in the most cruelest of ways. Bella, on the other hand is also burning away internally for the one thing that she couldn't give Edward, the one thing that defines him. She labels herself as a "fraud" and even "incapable", making herself seem to be such a horrible person - one that does not deserve the love of Edward. So she does something that no one should ever do: she leaves. The heartbreak from both is a little too much to bear and they both go a quest to find out what the reality is. What was the reason behind Bella closing herself off? Will Bella finally open her eyes wide enough to see that she needs Edward just as much as he needs her before it is too late?

I have read many of Livie79's stories and, from personal preference as well as experience, am very familiar of the angst she uses in most of her writing. That being said, this is a heavy piece of angst that will tug your heart and form tears in your eyes. The story is a HEA but throughout the eleven chapters of the story, there is some serious subject matter going on; this one is not for you if you aren't a fan of angst. Despite the deep angst, the story was a quick, and amazing read. The characters are very well developed and with the alternating point of views, the reader will be able to catch on with both sides of the story. I will admit, there were times I wanted to punch Bella in the face and go hug Edward to make it all better, but Livie has incorporated realism very well into the story. You have to understand that though you might favor Edward, Bella is going through some very serious matter and as his lover, her mind is bound to think about what is best for him under the given circumstances. But I think it is all worth it in the end when the two talk things out - finally - and are able to understand each other. Ultimately, it's their undying love for one another that brings them back together. Definitely give this a read with a tissue box in hand (you could always read a fluffy story after this one ;-) ) but don't hesitate on this one!

Watch Me Burn consists of 11 chapters and a total of 56,617 words. The story is rated MA for foul language, heavy angst and serious subject matter.
