Quirky Bella Swan has some weird habits - much to the dismay of her roommate and best friend Rosalie - and one of them is doing her laundry at midnight. Every Tuesday, shortly before the clock strikes twelve, Bella is on her way to the local laundromat to wash her clothes - alone and without being disturbed by too obtrusive men. Unfortunately for Bella, the owner of her favorite laundry mat tells her one fateful night that, from now on, they will have to close at eleven as they don't make enough money after that time. Frustrated and sad, the young woman trots to the next laundromat a few blocks away and is met by a charming old lady and a cute guy. With his beanie, funky shirt, and black leather jacket, the latter is an absolute sight to behold. Add his drumming skills to that and Bella can't help but be interested and check him out. In fact, she is staring so hard that she doesn't even notice how her less than flattering panties drop to the floor, directly in front of the old lady, who can't help but comment that she has the same. Embarrassed and red as a tomato, Bella continues doing her laundry until she hears a soft voice in her ear. Could it be that the guy is as interested in her as she is in him?

Once again, MandyLeigh87 managed to write a highly entertaining story. Though The Mat is comparatively old, it hasn't lost anything of its appeal. The fic is full of humor and fluff and perfect for those of you, who want to read something easy and uncomplicated after a long angsty story. Rosalie and her antics are hilarious and bring Bella in on or two slightly embarrassing situations. Edward is sweet (and so cute with his beanie) and shares a lovely passion for classic rock with Bella. Reading about him sitting behind his drums, jamming with the guys is nothing short of hot and adorable at the same time. Written from both Bella's and Edward's POV, The Mat is a wonderful read that you will easily finish in an hour! Don't miss it!
