Bella Swan knows what she wants and she is willing to do everything in her power to get it. Together with her friend Esme, she has established her own advertising company and the two have worked long and hard to make a name for themselves. Now, years later, Swan & Platte is one of the most successful agencies in the advertisment and PR sector of Seattle and only the best of the best manage to get a job there. Edward Cullen is one of the best and after an extensive talk with Esme, he starts his work as the new advertising and marketing manager at S&P. His position entails that he works closely with his boss, Ms. Swan, and though Edward sees no problems in doing that, he doesn't know that his employer is more than feisty...
Because Bella is deeply troubled by her past and unwilling to let anyone except for her girlfriends get too close to her. She is mesmerized by Edward but just as rude and commanding to him as she is to all of her employees. Soon, Edward has it completely with his new boss and already begins to question his decision to start working at S&P. When he runs into Bella and her friends at a bar, the two get into an impressive verbal exchange that makes it clear to both of them how much they despise each other. Yet deep down, they also know that they can't help but feel a certain attraction and Edward learns soon that there is more to Bella Swan than being a cold-hearted b**ch. So when he and Bella have to go on a one-week business trip to Chicago, he is determined to find out more about her. Needless to say, the following seven days get more than interesting...
Here's to Strategy is a rare gem. Why? Because there are hardly any stories out there in which the roles are reversed and it is not Edward who is the arrogant CEO but Bella. It is definitely a scenario that takes some getting used to - especially because Bella considers and treats Edward like her inferior - but LauraLoo7 manages to pull it off convincingly and with a nice twist to it. In her story, Bella is absolutely broken and doesn't trust easily. Her past, and the fact that being a successful woman in a male-dominated corporate world is not an easy thing to do, have made her cold-hearted and suspicious of everyone who wants to get too close. Edward on the other hand is absolutely sweet and willing to break Bella's hard shell once he catches a glimpse of the real her. That said, despite the fact that he is her (sweet) employee, he is never portrayed as weak or whiny - the opposite actually, he doesn't like it at all how Bella treats him and tells her so on more than one occasion. Bella, however, makes it difficult for Edward to find out more about the person beneath the business suit - someone he would really like to know. A bumpy road is ahead of them both but the HEA that LauraLoo7 has written for them makes up for all the angst this story contains. This is a must-read, guys, go check it out!
Here's to Strategy consists of 33 chapters and 152,135 words. The story is rated M for lemons, profanities, and some mild angst.
