Born into a world where slavery exists, Bella Swan has had to suffer from the most cruel treatments from the men around her and, unfortunately, there is no end in sight. With her father dead and her mother separated from her at the tender age of 17, she finds herself once again standing at the podium - where the richest of men bid to buy her. Bella desperately hopes that her new owner won't subject her to too much abuse and it seems as if luck is finally on her side. Because the young woman is bought by Edward Cullen, a rich and heartbroken man, who refuses to trust anyone. It therefore comes as no shock when he decides to turn Bella into his personal assistant, taking care of all his needs. All of them. What starts out as an undeniable pull between two people of different social status, forms into something neither of them expected. But will Edward ever be able to trust her? And what his family say about his relationship with Bella?

A short but very sweet story that is so often overlooked! Authors Rosette-Cullen and Kitschisme managed to write a very convincing fanfiction that never fails to touch your heart in the most unique ways. Though the story is almost always written from Bella's POV, the reader can't help but feel for Edward and his personal history. More than anything, Labour of Devotion teaches you that life will always consist of hardships but it is ultimately up to you to know how to deal with them and travel down the right road. Though one could think that the story is set at some time in the past, the authors have neither labeled it historical nor mentioned any specific time periods. Instead, they describe a world where (non-racial) slavery is part of the everyday life. For such an interesting and unique plot line the fanfic is highly underrated! Especially because it also contains some hot lemons! Last but not least, Labour of Devotion consists of relatively short chapters that really hook you into the story - you defintitely won't need to complain!
I cannot say this enough, but this wonderful story is highly recommendable! A must-read, even! So go and check it out now!
