Edward Masen moves to Forks after his parents died in a house fire back in Chicago. At the time, the only thing on his mind is revenge. He has his plans for when he found who killed his parents and what he would do to them, but what he wasn't expecting was to fall in love with the police chief's daughter - Bella Swan. As high school students, they envision a future where they would always be together and stay happy. But everything can change in the blink of an eye when you least expect it. One day, Bella's as happy as she's ever been with her loving boyfriend by her side. And the next, she falls into a deep depression when said boyfriend dies in an accident. But time doesn't heal all wounds for Bella, and she's admitted into psychiatric hospital as a last resort. Still, she feels Edward's presence and swears she sees him in her dreams.

What she doesn't know is that Edward was hiding, working with a secret organization as Decoy. Since his "death" four years back, he has been keeping tabs on Bella—making sure she was happy and well-off—against his superiors' orders. Though, when he decides to give up on his hopes of being reunited, unforeseen circumstances have him trying to protect her from who, or what, ever it is that's on a mission to kill. It's safe to say that their reunion isn't what Edward has been hoping for—Bella is pretty hateful and hostile towards him. But as time goes on, she finds herself slowly falling in love with him all over again. Will they be alive long enough to enjoy their future together?

Détruit is a highly emotional roller coaster ride. Try placing yourself in Bella's shoes: you've lost the love of your life, just to find out he's been alive the whole time and living in the same city. On top of that, there are people trying to kill you. It's pretty earth shattering, if you ask me. I do love how Somah doesn't portray Bella as a weakling though - she's a strong woman who's been through hell and back, and still manages to land on her feet... Time and time again. Détruit is a very well written story, told from both Bella and Edward's point of view so it's great to indulge in both perspectives and get a wholesome view. Throughout the journey, you will find yourself crying and struggling to keep your emotions in check at times so I suggest you keep tissues nearby, just in case. But don't miss out on this wonderful story!

Détruit consists of 20 chapters and 101,210 words. The story is rated MA for foul language, some mild sexual content, and graphic violence.
