Bella Swan is one of the best in her field: a first-class FBI profiler, who seems to be able to read people's minds like no other. What hardly anyone knows is that Bella is gifted. Just like her grandmother, she is able to sense people's feelings and emotions and can tell right away when someone is lying or purposely omitting important information. It is exactly what helped her bring serial killer James Reynolds behind bars, yet also what will change her life irrevocably. Because not long after Reynolds goes to prison, Bella begins to receive mysterious packages: apples with little "love notes". To her supervisor Emmett McCarty it becomes clear right away that the "gifts" must have been sent by Reynolds through an accomplice and he thinks Bella to be in grave danger. He is able to convince her to stay with her grandmother in Capri, Italy, for a couple of weeks until he manages to solve the problem. To make absolutely sure that Bella is protected, Emmett sends his old friend Edward Cullen, former soldier in the Army and now specialized in security, to keep an eye on her, but refrains from telling Bella...

And so, together with his best friend Jasper Whitlock, Edward flies to Capri and starts watching Bella. Though he knows he should keep a professional distance, one look at her is enough to put a spell on him. Edward is absolutely mesmerized by the brunette beauty living with her grandmother and cannot for the life of him stay away from her. So he approaches her on the beach and what follows are romantic and very intense days. Bella confides in Edward with regards to her gift and also admits that, for whatever reason, she is unable to read him. He takes in her confession in a stride and the two get closer and closer. However, when Bella finds a package of apples at her gran's house, their bubble bursts and all three have to fly back to Seattle. It is then that Bella starts doubting Edward's intentions and cannot ignore the coincidence that the hideout is "found" just shortly after she met the bronze-haired adonis. Is he the accomplice of James Reynolds?

In this story, the author takes the gift that was originally assigned to Jasper in the books and hands it over to Bella. However, the fact that, for the first time in her life, she meets someone, whose emotions she cannot make out, resembles Edward's situation in Stephenie Meyer's vampire series. The Bella in Truth, Lies, and Alibies has always relied on her gift (even though she's condemned it for the majority of her life) and has difficulties dealing with the fact that she now has to rely on her instincts and her instincts alone. She needs to trust Edward and her colleagues, something that doesn't come easily to her. She feels drawn to Edward yet doesn't know what's right and wrong. Her struggle to find a way to deal with the situation takes over a good part of the story. The rest is dedicated to hunting the bad guy, something that is cleverly written and quite suspenseful. Edward's character is very sweet and protective and doesn't hesitate to openly show the affections (and possessiveness) he feels towards Bella. The story is written from both Bella and Edward's POV and has some nice, though not overly graphic lemons. It's a good, long read!

Truth, Lies, and Alibies consists of 32 chapters and a total of 291,022 words. The story is rated MA for violence, foul language, and sexual content.
