At twenty years old, Bella Swan finds herself pregnant and breaking up with her boyfriend - Tyler. Fast forward four years, twenty-four year-old Bella only invests her time into her work and daughter, Charlie. She's surrounded around people who love and support both her and Charlie. Even with the many attempts made by her family, she's not interested in dating - much less finding love. Until she meets her brother's best friend, Edward Cullen - a professional soccer player who has returned to Washington from England due to an injury. For little Charlie, meeting Edward results love in first sight - not so much for Bella. At first, she believes he’s just another womanizing athlete. But as they get to know each other, she begins to see just how wrong she was. Behind the fame and the ink, he’s just another man looking for his purpose in life - much like herself. It may not take long before neither of them can fight off their feelings for each other, but there are complications along the way. When Edward’s able to get back into the game and is scouted by a team out of state, will they be able to reach a compromise without destroying everything they have worked so hard for?
As a fan of Rochelle Allison’s fanfiction, I’m constantly on the look-out for alerts in my inbox. When I saw that the bitter, the sweet was complete, it landed a spot on the top of my to-be-read list. After reading this story, I realized it’s one of the most heartwarming and awe-worthy fics I've read as of late. Bella and Edward's romance isn't immediate - no, they take the time to get to know each other and form a friendship before (finally) taking the plunge and giving their relationship a shot. It’s a wonderful story about letting go of the past and giving in to what we truly desire in life. the bitter, the sweet is told from Bella’s point of view, so we only get a glimpse inside her mind and know her experiences. Though the review I've written is short, the story is not but it's the kind of story that has a simple plot and one can easily write too much.
the bitter, the sweet consists of 40 chapters and 64,190 words. It's rated M for foul language and sexual content.
