Bella Swan always wanted to be a dancer on Broadway, yet a horrible relationship and the scars she has taken away from it prevented her from doing so. So instead of becoming a famous dancer, Bella decides that, one day, she will open her own studio; sharing her passion with young students. Until then, however, she earns a living as awaitress at the Breaking Dawn Lounge, the club owned by her close friends Jacob and Rosalie. In addition to making sure that the guests get their ordered drinks, Bella's tasks also include to dance on stage from time to time. Yet instead of taking her clothes off, the beautiful young woman and her equally attractive colleagues entertain the predominantly male visitors with burlesque-like shows and intimate dances. Whenever Bella doesn't have to work, she makes sure to keep in shape by training regularly at the Twilight dance studio. The latter has just been saved from ruin by a very generous new investor: Edward Cullen, CEO of SpyTech and an incredibly sexy hunk of a guy. And even though Bella feels drawn to the handsome gentleman in a suit, she desperately tries to stay away from him...

Edward, however, is determined to pursue the gorgeous dancer, whom he cannot get out of his head. Watching her perform was unlike anything he's ever experienced and now he wants to get to know Bella better. He immediately develops a fierce protectiveness with regards to the girl and guesses that she must have gone through a lot in the past. He is never too far from where she is: if Bella's dance partner Mike gets too close for Edward's liking, he storms into the studio and tells him off. If Bella forgets to turn of the alarm of the top notch security system he has installed in her apartment, he reminds her via text message. Though the elusive CEO is a huge mystery to Bella yet his attentiveness to her needs and his honest concern for her safety touch her heart - especially now that her abusive ex-boyfriend tries to get back in touch with her. Not to mention the fact that Edward is hot as hell and that she fantasizes about him every night. So inevitably, the two get closer and soon cannot ignore the sexual tension that constantly surrounds them anymore. As both of them are unwilling to get emotionally attached they make a business arrangment to be "aquaintances with benefits", purely providing the other with sex. Yet too soon Edward and Bella realize that they cannot fight the feelings they are developing for one another...

In this story, Edward is a bit of an enigma, to put it mildly. Though it is clear from the beginning that he has no bad intentions when it comes to Bella and only wants her to be safe, you can't help but become a bit suspicious of him. There are a lot of strings he pulls behind Bella's back and while they will eventually help saving her life, keeping it a secret from the woman he's enchanted with is a huge mistake. The fact that the fanfic is completely written from Bella's POV adds to the mystery that Edward presents. The reader only knows as much as Bella does and, just like her, constantly wonders what the mesmerizing Mr. Cullen has to hide. Furthermore, Bella is a very broken character in this story. Due to her past, she is afraid of any kind of romantic committment and is later even willing to sell her body to save Edward from harm. Fortunately, she has friends who keep her sane and prevent her from making mistakes. The story contains some lemons which are very nice to read as they are tastefully written. Both Edward and Bella are insatiable, even if her past and some later events will put a short damper on that in the middle of the story; a story that is very entertaining and will keep you thoroughly entertained!

Investing in Love consists of 67 chapters and 129,903 words. The story is rated M for lemons, foul language, and some angst.
