After another one of her boss' escapades, Bella Swan decides that enough is enough and finally quits her job as a sous-chef in the esteemed French restaurant 'Le Provencale'. She decides to use this unexpected opportunity and try to make her own mark in the world. Together with her friends and colleagues Alice and Jasper, Bella decides to open her very own restaurant and even manages to find a promising property for her future business. Admittedly, the estate is in dire need of some restoration and dusting but the fact that it also includes a small yet tiny apartment on the first floor - perfect for Bella and her 10-year-old daughter Renesmee - makes it an offer she just can't resist. Yet the fact remains that some things definitely need to be repaired by a professional and so Bella hires a handyman to take care of that. She definitely didn't expect to meet a handsome and unbelievably sexy hunk of a man, who seems to have an instant connection with her daughter...

Edward Cullen was the golden boy among the residents at the Chicago hospital, yet one fatal mistake makes him leave his career as a doctor behind and try to find his luck in craftsmanship. He becomes a very skilled handyman and invests some of his money in an old apartment building. For years, different chefs have rented the ground floor and opened up their businesses there but non was good enough to stay for more than a few months. So it is a pleasant surprise for Edward when he is called to his own building by his new tenant. He feels immediately drawn to the beautiful brunette welcoming him and decides to keep his true 'identity' hidden until they know each other well enough. Edward fears that by introducing himself as her landlord, neighbor (he lives one floor above Bella), and handyman, he might influence his relationship with the pretty chef before it has even begun. All he wants is getting to know her in the most unbiased way possible. Too bad that Bella asked her mother's best friend Esme, a.k.a. Edward's mom, to do the interior design, and that Nessie desperately wants to know who the great piano player is, who lives in the building...

Tapas at Twilight has its pros and cons; let's start with the pros: you will hardly find any kind of angst in this story. Yes, Edward and Bella have somewhat of a rough start but once all the misunderstandings are out of the way, they are just incredibly cute together. Edward's relationship with Nessie is wonderfully written, as is his slight disdain for Jacob, who is more than interested in the little girl. With regards to the cons, let me just say that the story is a bit too long. Though many passages might function as giving away a bit about the characters' backstory and characteristics, they are not absolutely necessary to understand the plot of the fanfiction and tend to not be very interesting for the reader. It takes a comparatively long while until Edward and Bella even meet for the first time. Secondly, this story is T rated, which means no lemons whatsoever. Bella believes in no sex before marriage and so poor Edward has to go through some hard times (no pun intended). And when they have finally tied the knot, the author only hints at their passionate night together but never describes it. So if you are a fan of graphic lemons, this story might not be it for you, but if you are looking for nice fluff, cute Daddyward, and some charming supporting characters, and an unsuspected twist, you should definitely give Tapas at Twilight a chance, a story written from both Bella and Edward's POV.

Tapas at Twilight consists of 126,256 words and 31 chapters. The story is rated T for foul language.
