Growing up, Bella Swan has never had the normal childhood that every kid should have. Instead, she had to go through abuse after abuse in the worst possible way, including getting hit by her own father. So when she is finally thrown out of the house, she is glad to be able to excape the brutality of the man who fathered her. But as weeks go by, Bella has to realize that life on the road is horrendous, to put it mildly. She has no place to sleep, no clothes, and no food. On a good day, she may happen to find a some fresh scrap of food that she digs up from the trash. And it is exactly on one of these days, when she happens to overhear a crucial encounter of a man by three men while sitting in a dumpser; munching on some pizza. Bella witnesses the murder of a man and watches his killers trying to dispose of his body. The men then detect a terrified looking Bella, who blacks out the moment she realizes she's been caught...

One of the three criminals, Edward, decides that the girl is not to be killed and takes her to a personal doctor. There, he has the phyiscian treat her malnourished and battered body. As Bella regains consciousness, Edward decides to keep her at his house, in order to protect her from the other members of his gang. What neither of them realize is that, as time goes on, they will find their perfect match in one another... But will Edward be able to protect her from his dangerous job and love her at the same time?

Mobward is back, everyone, and this particular one definitely has a gentler side! When I read this story, I was really captivated from the start and apart from the fabulous plot itself, I think what really made me connect to it was that it made me realizes that often, we take many things for granted. As you read through Bella's struggle for a bed to sleep in or finding some freshly cooked food, it occurs to you that we can be happy for always having access for these very basic necessities in life! Furthermore, the fanfiction is really heart-warming and alternates between Edward and Bella's point of view (and rarely other characters). That allows the reader to clear up any possible confusions that may or may not have come up in previous chapters. More than anything, you get to feel for Edward, who has developed a heart of stone from his job in the underworld, and Bella, who has to learn that not everyone is cruel and that Edward might be worth trusting. Reading this story was a really good and unique experience. The chapters are relatively short and will allow you to finished the story in no time. Get prepared to be blown away with BruiserSkinGirl's beautifully written story!

Survival of the Fittest consists of 45 chapters and 82,094 words. The story is rated M for some violent content, language, and sexual references/activities. The author has also already published a sequel, Surviving As the Fittest.
