Mary and Marie Swan are twin sisters living in Manhattan. Mary is a dancer and Marie is working at an accounting firm. One night, after an evening full of partying, the sisters make a stop at Marie's office on their way home, to pick up her phone that she left there. They are both shocked to see that the office is lit up and even more shocked to hear a series arguments and gunshots. Although they are able to take cover and protect themselves, Mary and Marie witness the murder of Marie's boss, Eleazar. Terrified of what they have just seen, the two women seek help from the authorities, who tell them that Eleazar has apparently been killed by the Italian mafia. To protect Mary and Marie from further danger, U.S. Marshalls Edward Cullen and Jasper Hale are assigned to shield the two sisters from the mob. What neither of them expects is that they both meet their respective matches...

As the police continues its investigation on the case, our two Marshalls develop close relationships with their protegés: Marie is instantly attracted to Edward, who, despite his dark and rough edges, reciprocates her feelings. However, he is reluctant to act on them and doesn't feel comfortable to open up about his life, given the current situation. While Edward and Marie are somewhat tip-toeing around each other, Jasper and Mary are upfront about the sentiments they harbor for one another and are willing to make their relationship work. And when Edward and Marie realize that similiar pasts haunt them at night and the energy surrounding them gets stronger and stronger, they eventually give in to their feelings. When the case finally comes to a close, the couples decide to start their lives over, with new identities for the girls: Marie as Isabella and Mary as Alice. But will their love survive now that they are out in the real world?

In Pursuit is the second story I have read written by Sarge's Girls and I must tell you that once again, I am completely blown away. The details of the story and the reality of the situation that the characters face is beautifully depicted by the author. What really makes this my favorite fanfic is the wonderful way Edward is portrayed. He is a hot, lovable man with a broken heart and you can't help but want to reach out to him and give him a kiss to make it all better. It is just tremendously heart-warming to see him so protective and in love with Bella. I must also say that though almost half of the story utilizes Mary and Marie as Alice's and Bella's names, it really isn't as bothersome as you would think because the author really describes them well, making it easy to distinguish the girls. Besides, it's kind of hard to get confused since we all know that Mary and Marie are Alice's and Bella's respective middle names from the original series. A great, romantic story with a twisted plot - written from both Bella and Edward's POV. You should give it a try for sure!

In Pursuit consists of 34 chapters and 266, 630 words. The story is rated M for language, sexual activities, and crime situations.
