And now it happens that both publicists of Edward and Bella know each other well from high school. They suggest to their protegés to fake a romantic relationship and become THE couple in Hollywood. Because then Edward would finally be considered "tamed" by a woman (and by a perfect one nonetheless) and movie deals would start coming back in again. Bella, on the other hand, would benefit from the lie as well, as being around Edward would most probably increase Eclipse's popularity immensely. Maybe she could even start a career in Hollywood. Though hesitant at first, Edward and Bella eventually agree to the arrangement. Supported by Bella's band mates and Edward's sister Alice the two set off on dates, always making sure that they can be well seen by the paparazzi. The actor and the musician don't think the best about each other which results in a horrible first date. Yet as they start to learn more about the other, they get closer and closer. What is supposed to be a mere act quickly turns into something neither one of them has experienced before and soon their fake relationship becomes real. Could Bella be Edward's wake up call? And how will they be able to balance their love with the constricted Hollywood world where paparazzi stalk them wherever they go?

Bad boy Edward Cullen thought he had everything perfectly laid out: he had decided to give acting a try despite having graduated with a pre-med degree from U-Dub and much to his surprise he was extremely successful. He soon developed a passion for acting and realized that he even had a certain talent. Unfortunately though, somewhere along the path of fame, money, and bad company, Edward got into the line of extreme partying and more than rude behavior. That made him to be "too much effort" for many producers and directors, even though they acknowledged his talent. On the flip side of the coin is Bella Swan, America's dream-girl and lead singer of a popular upcoming band - Eclipse. Unlike Edward, the young woman wasn't born with a silver spoon in her mouth and along with her best friends Emmett, Rosalie, and Jasper she is working arduously to bring her band to success.

Faking It is an amazing story set in Hollywood, LA and spangly9 manages to elicit lots of emotions from you while reading. It is touching to see Edward's future slipping right out of his own hands and how Bella comes along to help him straighten out his life. The chemistry and tension between the two is continuous and you will find yourself begging them to get it on already. The fanfiction has it's hot and romantic moments, but there is also quite a bit of humor involved as well as an interesting glimpse at Hollywood's connection to the fashion industry. I loved this story a lot and my favorite part about it was noticing how Edward changed for the better and came out of his hell-hole with the help of Bella. All it took was love for both of them to realize that life can be beautiful and worth-living with your partner by your side. I really enjoyed reading this story and have no doubts you will too!
Faking It consists of 32 chapters and 144,679 words. The fanfic is rated M for language and lemons.

I read this based on your recommendation and I really enjoyed it. It reminded me a touch of some old stories (what was the one where Bella was a homeless girl and Edward was a rock star ... The Screamers? Something like that) because of the set up with the basic story of life in Hollywood fame land. But, the characters were really well done and you were rooting for them all to work it out and live happily ever after in the end.
ReplyDeleteYes, the story really is wonderful. Hats off to the author for that! Yes, the Screamers was more like that in terms of the Hollywood aspect of it with a slightly different plot-line. Such good stories are definitely worth reading and it's my team's job to recommend them to readers! I am glad you liked, thank you!!
