"Forever Bound" by Green Fallen Leaves

Posted by Anonymous

On her 16th birthday Bella Swan is told that she is supposed to marry 19-year-old Edward Cullen. Accepting her fate, she leaves her hometown and family and travels all the way to the Cullen mansion. On the next day, the young girl is pampered and primped by her future mother-in-law Esme and seamstress Alice and then brought to the church where she meets her fiancé for the first time. Bella is speechless when she catches sight of her incredibly handsome groom - definitely not what she expected! And when she learns that, in addition to his striking looks, he's also well educated, knows how to carry a conversation, and loves music, Bella feels positive that her life might turn out better than she initially dared to hope. So after a wedding night full of passion and desire Bella falls asleep a more than happy girl.

Yet the next morning, Bella's perfect world is shattered to pieces. The man who was so caring and interested in her the day before, is now cold and heartless. Edward makes it abundantly clear that he neither wanted to marry her nor does he intend to fall in love with her. His heart, Bella soon finds out, belongs to another woman: Tanya Denali, a beautiful blonde whom he plans to keep as his mistress once an heir has been produced. Shocked and hurt Bella begins to isolate herself from the world around her. It isn't until the arrival of her old friend Jacob as well as her brother Emmett that the newlywed not only rediscovers the bright sides of life but also seems to finally stir some feelings in Edward. What happens when the future Lord Cullen learns that his Tanya isn't what he thought she was and when Bella finally seems to have conceived an heir?

When I started reading Forever Bound I expected the usual fluff and "happily-ever-after" plot I was used to with these kinds of story. Not much drama and definitely no angst. Boy, was I wrong. The "morning after" is not only shocking to read but also heart breaking. Edward is an angry young man who believes that he is madly in love with Tanya. He doesn't think twice about Bella's feelings and is unwilling to at least get to know her a little bit. There are some harsh scenes in this story (Edward is a real bastard in the beginning!) and, to be honest, it wasn't always easy for me to read them. The story is written from a third-person's perspective; however, each chapter either focuses on Edward's thoughts and actions or Bella's. The lemons are tastefully written and not too graphic. It's a shame that Forever Bound is Green Fallen Leaves' only story to this date - definitely a waste of talent!

Forever Bound consists of 41 chapters (incl. an outtake) and a total of 155,239 words. The story is rated M for description of sexual activities.
