After seven years in prison Edward Masen wants to start fresh. With the help of his parole officer Wayne Harris, he gets a job as a deckhand on a lobster boat. When Edward arrives in the small fishing village of Corea, Maine he befriends with seven-year-old Peyton Swan. Peyton is the daughter of Bella, who runs a well-known restaurant in town - "The Breakers". Before he knows it, Edward meets his little friend's mother and takes to her immediately.

And although Bella is immensely attracted as well, she is afraid to feel more. Because Peyton's father died while out fishing, Bella fears Edward could meet the same fate and tries not to get too close. However, all attempts to do so are in vain... Also, while Edward tries to build a new life, his past does not stop haunting him.

The Breakers is a heartbreaking story, that keeps you glued to the pages. It features the usual suspects (Carlisle, Esme, Emmett, etc.) as well as new interesting characters like Xavier and Wayne. Additionally, Edward and Peyton's relationship is very cute and well written.

The Breakers consists of 31 chapters and a total of 316,894 words. All characters are human. The story is rated M for mature content.
