Student Bella Swan participates in an archeology program lead by Dr. Carlisle Cullen. During a reconaissance mission she stumbles on a feral yet attractive young man in a cave. Deprived of any verbal or physical contact with human beings for about ten years, the man behaves like a wild and scared animal; one who needs to be approached calmy and with absolute caution. Bella manages to do just that and the mystery man is taken to Carlisle's house for further inspection and medial care. A former doctor, Carlisle makes sure that the stranger's cuts and scrapes are taken care of before Tanya Denali comes to visit and tries to help the man, who begins referring to himself as Edward, bring back his memories. Over time, Edward becomes very attached to Bella, even though he fears being in the company of others. Bella feels a connection to her mysterious friend and, against the advice of her father Charlie, moves to Forks, where Edward's past seems to be burried. Along with Edward's mother Esme and Carlisle Bella tries everything in her power to give Edward back a normal life.
This story really touched my heart - in so many different ways! Although the story primarily revolves around Edward and his lost memories, it also picks up upon the difficulties Carlisle and Esme have gone through in their respective pasts. Furthermore, Feral will present you with a rather unusual pairing, Charlie and Tanya, and surprisingly Tanya is the more open of the two with regards to Bella and her relationship with Edward. Our canon couples Alice & Jasper and Rose & Emmett also make sweet appearances in this story - both to help out Bella and Edward. This heart-warming fanfic takes you on a wonderful journey through Edward's past and his growing feelings for Bella. The more he finds out about his life ten years ago, the more his character changes from wild and naive to strong and determined. What is it that lead him to this horrid cave in the first place and will his romance with Bella have a future? Definitely a story not to be missed!
