"The Red Coats" by ericastwilight

Bella Swan is a living miracle: a long time ago, she was seriously sick and the doctors thought she wouldn't make it. Yet to everyone's surprise, Bella was given a transplant on Christmas Day that was able to revive her. Ever since then, Christmas has always been the young woman's favorite holiday. Bella celebrates it by going out wearing a new red coat for each day in the month of December, pairing it with sparkly sweaters and glittery, lit-up earrings. Oh, and red ankle boots. In a nutshell, "Miss Christmas" as people start calling her, appreciates the true meaning of Christmas very much and lives it out to the max. Bella enjoys donating gifts to those who are less fortunate, hoping that they, too, will one day lead a prosperous and happy life - just like her. There is one person, however, who doesn't allow her to get too close: her next door neighbor Edward Cullen. Every time she tries to talk to him or offer him her largely famous apple pie, he shuts her out and closes the door in her face. What the hell is wrong with this man?

Well, as it happens, Edward Cullen is a police officer, who loathes nothing more than holidays and festivities - especially Christmas. He has his reasons for his attitude, first and foremost the fact that he lost his whole family on that very day. Edward has long given up hopes for a happy life and it doesn't help that his job as a cop confronts him daily with criminals and injustice - definitely not a world you would like your children to live in. He is convinced that Christmas is not a holiday of charity and miracles but ruin, nothing but ruin. And when Edward is looking at his neighbor Bella - a walking and talking Christmas - he is disgusted and more than irritated. How can someone be so happy all the time? Why is there a spark in her eyes whenever he sees her and what the heck is up with the attention-grabbing red coats?! Yet despite all these weird attributes of Bella, Edward cannot help but notice how beautiful and charismatic she is. He soon gets the chance to admire that beauty from up close as a criminal out to hurt all those who love Christmas has put his eye on Bella. As a result her father, chief of police Charles Swan, orders Edward to become Bella's personal bodyguard. Will Edward be able to protect her while also letting her into his broken heart?

ericastwilight has always been one of my favorite authors; her writing style is simply amazing as she never misses out on providing her readers with all the details they crave. The Red Coats is no exception to that! The author manages to create two completely opposite characters yet still makes them fall in love with one another - something that seems to be an impossible task, but ericastwilight does it beautifully. The story is written from both Edward's and Bella's perspective, so it will not be hard to understand the events going on and you will find yourself switching from Edward's angry, dark and moody self to Bella's cheerful and sparkling personality. In fact, when you first start the story, it is so hard to imagine how the two of them will get together at all because they simply can't stand to be near ten feet of each other! So I guess we should thank Charlie Swan for being an overprotective father for he is the one that forces Policeward into staying with Miss Christmas at all times. Both Bella and Edward have no choice but to be together every hour of the day and get to know one another in the process! Did I mention how much they want each other? The lemons in this story are fantastic, and you can tell how much the two lovers try to hold off their attraction toward one another in the beginning. But let's just say, that doesn't last very long... I definitely think this story is fantastic and a MUST read! It was just completed this January and it has already received about 2k+ reviews, and I think it surely deserves more! It has a beautiful plot-line and Edward and Bella will melt your heart. So what are you waiting for ;D, jump on it!!!

The Red Coats consists of 22 chapters and 44,775 words. The story is rated M for language and really good lemons!
