"Exes and Ohs" by Brain in the Gutter

Bella Swan is a social worker, whose job it is to rescue abused children from their violent and/or addicted parents. It is at the hospital, while visiting one of her favorite protegés - four-year-old Bridgette - that Bella runs into her secret crush. Surgeon Edward Masen is the hottest man Bella has ever seen in her life and she simply can't help but admire how his amazing body looks in scrubs. Edward has just performed the surgery on Bridgette and kindly explains to the beautiful social worker that, even though the young girl is malnourished and has been severely beaten, she will soon be okay. Relieved, Bella makes her way home, hoping that finally her best friends Alice and Jasper will be able to get custody for sweet Bridgette.
The next day, Bella is asked to check out an anonymous report of abuse. She drives to the address left by the unknown caller and comes face to face with handsome Edward Masen. After being invited in, Bella quickly realizes that absolutely nothing is wrong in the Masen household and that Edward's four-year-old daughter Lizzie is more than fine. Edward confides in Bella that he suspects his ex-wife Tanya has made the call, as it is something she had already done when he and Lizzie still lived in another state. The chemistry between Edward and Bella is undeniable and before she knows it, Bella is invited to Lizzie's birthday party and Edward asks her out on a date. The two quickly become very comfortable with each other and realize that they have a lot in common (especially their love for Lizzie). Both can't help but fall hard and fast for one another and by being with Edward, Bella also manages to find something that she thought was lost forever...
The story's title, Exes and Ohs, might be a bit misleading if it makes you think about a herd of crazy ex-lovers and tons of hot lemons and make out sessions. Actually, we have only one ex-wife, but admittedly, she's doing enough damage for a dozen. The "ohs" a.k.a. schmexy times of the story are very rare and subtle and definitely don't classify as being overly graphic. Nevertheless, they are tastefully written and fit well into the general style of the fanfiction! A fanfic, I might add, that is very entertaining (Alice is hilarious) and incredibly sweet. Watching daddy Edward interact with his Lizzy will melt your heart and the small, hidden caresses he has for Bella will give you a good idea of how much she really means to him. Exes and Ohs is written from Bella's and Edward's perspectives and though some moments are told from both POVs there is not too much repitition. Give this little story a try, it's worth it!
