Paris 1950: the war is over and, once again, the city is alive with artists, writers, and musicians. Sadly, the reason why Bella Swan is making her way to the b(l)ooming capitol of France has not much to do with her hoping to start a successful career, but rather that her best friend, Rosalie Hale, has suddenly gone missing. A few days ago, Bella had received a letter from Rosalie's roommate, Alice Brandon, who informed her about her friend's sudden absence. Determined to find Rose no matter what, Bella immediately drops everything and leaves her hometown Forks behind to move to Paris. With the help of a kind police officer, she eventually finds her way safely to Alice's apartment and both begin their search right away... Meanwhile, painter Edward Cullen is out by the river Seine looking for some inspiration, when he notices a beautiful young lady with wonderful tresses of brown hair. Her bright red umbrella makes her stick out of the crowd and the image burns itself into Edward's memory. So captivated by the mysterious beauty, he begins painting her down on his canvas...

With the help of some old letters from Rose, Bella and Alice learn that she last hung out with her boyfriend Royce King. Though the man is more than suspicious, Bella refuses to believe he could have anything to do with Rose's disappearance - he made her so happy, didn't he? One night, the two young women enter a bar where they not only meet Jasper, a strange yet charming scarred man, but also run into Edward. The guys agree to help Bella and Alice with their search and even join forces with officer Emmett McCarty. During their mysterious quest of finding Rose, Bella and Edward start developing deep feelings for one another, but what will happen when Bella has to go back to Forks? Will they be able to manage a relationship? And will the group ever find Rose or does she not want to be found at all?

Hang on tight for this wonderful fanfic, everyone! The story is set in the past and told through Edward's (spangly9) and Bella's (justaskalice) points of view. The big mystery that shapes the whole fanfic is absolutely captivating and your level of excitement will only get higher and higher the more the plot thickens. Apart from the main story-line about finding Rose, Girl with a Red Umbrella focuses much on the relationship between Edward and Bella. The latter is going through a serious inner battle when she has to decide what her future will look like - especially since she also has to learn the native French language - and if it might contain Edward or not. Furthermore, that authors make sure that each and every (!) character has a story to tell, always including a past traumatic event - especially Edward's back-story adds to the plot. I promise that you will go through a series of emotions when you read this wonderful story that realistically portrays the 1950's in Paris. I honestly cannot emphasize how GOOD this fanfiction is, I'm really lacking the right vocabulary here. Please give it a shot, if not for the great story-line, then at least for the hot smut that is waiting for you!

Girl With a Red Umbrella consists of 30 chapters and 160,699 words. The story is rated M for  language, sexual activities and mention of abuse (very brief mentions).
