"To Be in Her Light" by sunflowersongs

When Bella Swan walks into the life of Edward Anthony Masen, he both damns and adores her. As the new governess of his two illegal children Adele and Katie, this lovely creature, who, he thinks, is thousands of times better than himself, is constantly crossing his paths, torturing him with the fact that he can never have her. Because as a governess, Bella is not in the same class as the 6th Viscount Cullen of Ward Hall. And so Edward tries his best to endure seeing his angel on a daily basis and never really allows himself to get too close. Yet soon, he can't helpt but give in to his desire as he touches her face, if only barely. It then comes to light that Bella more than reciprocates his feelings and also longs for nothing more than being with him.

It is the visit of Edward's mother Esme, his sister Alice, and her husband Jasper, that will change the status quo unexpectedly. Because Esme notices that Bella resembles her old friend Renee, with whom she hasn't spoken since the two of them went to school together. It is then revealed that Bella's late mother was the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Glastonborough. Suddenly, it is not Edward, who is in too a high a class to marry Bella but vice versa. Due to his tumultous past full of alcohol, women, and gambling, Edward has hardly a chance in getting the permission to make Bella his wife. And indeed, when he asks the Duke for the hand of his granddaughter he tells him to wait for six months. Six months during which Bella will have her first season, going from ball to ball, from soiree to soiree with the sole purpose of finding a proper husband. If, after all these months, she still wants to marry Edward, the Duke and his wife will give them his blessing. But if the two elope or Edward sees Bella outside of official events, he will not only lose the chance to make the love of his life his wife but also damage the reputation of his family irrevocably. Because the Duke knows about the dark secret of the Cullens...

To Be in Her Light is another wonderful story of sunflowersongs! Though this one has some typos here and there, the overall reading experience is a very positive one! Though the fanfic is written from the perspectives of both Edward and Bella, there is hardly any repetition in terms of the story line which makes the story even easier to read. Edward is a broody, unhappy, and self-loathing man of 27 years, who thinks of himself as less then good, to but it mildy. So when Bella walks into his life he doesn't feel like he deserves her at all and pushes her away on more than one occasion throughout the story. But our stubborn and affectionate Bella will have none of that and puts him in his place whenever needed. So I can promise you that she is more than determined to not let him get away! Finally, it is also important to note the To Be in Her Light is one of the few stories out there that portray Rose as the main antagonist. If you are a fan of Emmett and Rosalie as a couple, this story might not be it for you!

To Be in Her Light consists of 27 chapters and 79,196 words (incl. one outtake). The story is rated M for description of sexual activities and some violence.
