"Nobody's Little Girl" by HelloElla

Posted by

After being bounced around an unfit foster system, Bella, who goes by the nickname 'Kid', has been living on the street since she was 12 years old. Now at the age of seventeen, she is street smart and gets by with techniques she’s perfected over the years. Despite her misfortunes, the fact that she stutters excessively and can't neither read nor write, Kid remains rather positive. One night, while sleeping beneath a slide in a playground, she hears screams and finds a young man being brutally beaten by a group of thugs. Acting on instinct, Kid calls for help and throws rock at the attackers, and suddenly she becomes the one whose life is at risk until she finally finds a place to hide.

The next day she runs into the man she saved. Edward Cullen has been searching all over the city for his rescuer and when he finally lays eyes on Kid her rather unfavorable living conditions, he takes her home with him. Edward lives irresponsibly and without purpose and has been estranged from his family for quite a while. With the help of his sister Alice, the young man slowly adjust to the new life with Kid. The two grow close and complications begin to arise. In order to find out more about his new friend and housemate, Edward asks his best friend, detective Jasper Whitlock, to dig a little into Kid's past. And what Jasper finds is someone no one could have ever guessed...

Though written in both Bella and Edward's POVs, Nobody's Little Girl is mainly a coming of age story for Bella. This heartbreaking tale pulls your heart through some serious angst, but also beautiful innocence. The writing is phenomenal and puts you directly with the characters as they go through their journeys. Bella's child-like personality shines and grows at a perfect pace. Edward's aimless life finds purpose in Bella and together they reach their full potentials. It's a tearjerker--I cried so much its ridiculous--but it's also one of the most amazing stories I've ever read. This is definitely a fic you want to be able to say you read.

Nobody's Little Girl consists of 30 chapters and 114,863 words. This story is rated M for language, violence, and adult situations.
